A typical day shift will start with an early morning meeting where the duty security supervisor will outline any specific information relevant to that day. Rotas are then issued and each Security Guard will commence work on a variety of different tasks. These involve basic physical security activities, reception duties, the operation and monitoring of CCTV, vehicle and personal entry/exit searching, and dealing with deliveries. Night shifts concentrate on performing security closedown procedures and the escorting of cleaning and maintenance staff within Service premises. Training is very structured and thorough. There is a focus on physical training and basic first aid, as well as improving specific aspects of the security work we do, such as CCTV training and searching techniques. And you continue to learn on the job; others on your shift are always happy to help if you're not sure.

I work at Total Security Management and stationed at the Riviera. My work requires me to have excellent communication and customer service skills. I take calls from the residents within the building of up-coming visitors, deliveries as well as any complaints of any noises and suspicious activity. I listen actively and keep a track of the communication messages that was transmitted through telephone calls, radios or computers. I have a computer which allows me access to close and open gates and doors within the complex. I also handle the buildings gates to allow visitors access if they have permission from the resident.

I show up to work in full proper uniform , and I let the Store Manager know that i am on site. I walk around and make sure that all the doors are still locked until the store opens, The management are really nice and treat me with respect , My co-workers ( The Store Staff ) are really nice and easy to get along with , they tell me things if i do not know what to do with certain situations , the hardest part of my job is when there is know customers and i just have to walk around and try to keep myself busy, the most enjoyable part of my job is when i get to converse with the elderly and the young children , i get along very well with those certain groups of people.

A typical day at work consisted of supervising my fellow co-workers along with ensuring electronic security control. I learned how to supervise and control time managment. My co-workers were great, I worked with security guards on all levels. Managment worked very hard as far as assisting us with ever support we needed. The harded part of the job was the long over night hours. The most enjoyable part of the job for me was every day there was a new job and a new sense of accomplishment

I just remember getting extra work and providing extra services, but never getting a pay increase, even after proving beyond being capable and going above and beyond what was required. Not only me, but co-workers as well. I don't know anyone that I used to work that remained there. Good staff are just replaceable to them.

Autonomy.  Given the freedom to grow.

I haven’t experienced any particular stress.

Fantastic.  Professional at the highest level.

Fun, and interactive.  Serious topics are addressed in an easy to comprehend manner.

This position I very much enjoyed.  

It allowed the freedom to lend assistance in critical situations needing level heads and knowledgeable personnel.  I very much liked the freedom of the mobility and to be able to set my own schedule, while at the same time, sharpening my time management skills.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Before starting the job they once again conducted 3 days training which was very useful

Truthfully didn’t experience any !

Every day was a learning and getting experience

I used to love working at sites however the management were not my favourite maybe this is why they dont exist anymore and are bought by Garda World. However I did gain a bit of security experience from TSM but I will never forget the fact I was working in cold weather and was never given a uniform jacket until 2 months working with them.

The pay isn't that great but the job is pretty easy to do and the management and people you work with are good people.

You mostly do patrols and guard worksites, it is often your job to secure locations and make sure doors are locked/unlocked at routine times.
