Just ask yourself... do you enjoy doing 5+ hours of online training on your own time with zero compensation?  From the very first steps of working for Tradesman a bunch of red flags started flying.  My introduction to my first day of work was okay, the HR personnel are very pleasant to work with and answered all of my questions.  I also enjoyed chatting with the safety coordinator, a very down to earth man.  Later that day I started learning my new job... extremely tedious and boring work (I did expect this, as it is factory work) as a few days went by I started noticing enormous issues, training was like a forgotten language.  I almost assume that the turnover rate is so high that anyone who has moved up into a leadership role may not know everything about the jobs they looking over, or may not be the right candidate due to oversights in training (which should be essential) or high turnover leading to only one or two "qualified" options for leadership.  I must say I did get along with everyone and my Team Leader/Supervisor was a great help with my many questions.  
The main negatives have to be that you basically train yourself and all of the documentation is very unorganized, so much that when you do try to figure something out for yourself 80% of the time the information is impossible to find or outright wrong.  This drove me nuts, then they have the guts to talk to me about rate......WOW really, this was the last straw.

If you just want to go to work and switch off for 8.5 hours with next to no talking and no music, no training and a real lack of safety training for $22 an hour than this is the place for you.  I would rather work much harder for the same money and feel like I'm actually accomplishing something for my future and for a company that gives a d@m^.


I’d worked for the company for a couple of years and had only ever taken two sick days throughout my employment. Working at Tradesman Manufacturing had been an enjoyable job in the sense that there is so much to learn in both production and operation. It can be repetitive at times and overall enjoyable with a sense of satisfaction at the end of the day, knowing that you got a lot done if the machines are working properly.

The downside of working for this company is due to the poor management that is presented on production staff. The high turnover rate reflects this. That being said, depending on what part of the plant you work at, you may have a bad experience. There’s also a lot of toxicity within the company itself and can affect the morale of employees. This can be common with shop environment jobs but is more than commonly presented here. 

At first, it was a positive experience working at Tradesman Manufacturing, but it didn’t last long. I was hoping I’d have found a company that I could see myself staying with for a very long time. What made me decide to leave the company was because of how I was treated. I had been increasingly under appreciated and increasingly spoken to like I didn’t care about my job (in which I did care about it). The pay is decent, but I wouldn’t recommend working here if you consider yourself a genuinely hard working employee. Better off finding a company with a good work culture.

As a maintenance tech, you will be given work orders. Some days you will get interrupted when a more important machine needs attention. We follow maintenance work orders and do preventive maintenance.

When dealing with machines, you are given the liberty to find the best solutions. It can be band aid solution or long term solution depending on the demand on the machine. Being creative is a must.

The maintenance supervisor is open to suggestions and solutions. The rest of the team is good in their own assignments. Some deal with mechanical and some with electrical. We have a lot of tools and if need be, can request some new tools if it means making the job faster and or easier.

The hardest part is when you have 3 machines on your list and they all have to run as soon as possible. This is no longer happening as frequently as before due to the implementation of an automated maintenance software which schedules most of the preventive maintenance work. Down times have lessened. Somewhat.

The best part of the job is that you are free to find solutions. You are trusted to do the most logical solution to a problem. If you enjoy fixing things then you might enjoy working as much as I did.

**You also get a cart to move around the building so you won't have to carry your tools.

Tradesman seems like a great place to work. I am sort of in a gopher position where I have to jump from one task to the next on a regular basis, but the management is always willing to listen to concerns, explain when I have any issues or questions, and typically listen whenever I suggest an improvement to the current way we do something.

They have full benefits coverage, a decent starting wage, a free breakfast program that I know is not cheap, and they have a pool table for employees to use on breaks. Easily one of the best entry level jobs that a person could have.

Hardest part of the job for me is batching tasks in a way that I can reliably finish everything that I need to get done in a day and still have time to work on projects, but to me that means that management trusts me to be able to think for myself and does not need to direct me every second of every day.

The company is still growing and is currently trying to get employees to offer up any ideas that they have for making their jobs more efficient or better, and the bosses all seem genuinely interested in hearing feedback, but production workers seem uneasy about offering ideas for some reason. I don't understand why, as I've never received negative feedback from my suggestions.

Of course working here is boring, it’s a production job. However, this company takes it to the next level by not allowing any form of music to entertain yourself. No, it’s just you and your thoughts for 8 and a half hours per day. Time does not go by quickly, in fact, it drags by agonizingly slow as you die from boredom or descend into madness battling your innermost demons. 
That being said, you must also fill out a sheet with everything you did that day. You will only get raises if you make a certain amount of product per day based on what they believe is 90-100% production rate. Some things it’s quite possible to do this or better, and some products you have to stop to wonder how anyone was able to do it that fast as you struggle to only do 100/hour instead of 400. 
And no, nothing else matters to get a raise (okay, maybe attendance). They can talk about QC all they want, but if you slow down to get better QC, you won’t get a raise. Anytime that isn’t used producing is bad, even the time you take to do paperwork and cleaning. No, they want you to stay late to do that if it means producing more. 
A good thing would be that if you’re competent and hard working and speak decent English, there’s a good chance you can get into management. The bar’s pretty low here due to the high turnover rate.

In a day and age where mental health and positive work culture matters more then ever, particular managers at tradesman have a very twisted perspective on how to treat humans. Management does what they want and likes to play favorites, there's little to no safety culture and there's absolutely no job security. You can give your 110% to the company but if you dont play the politics don't expect long term employment. The team leaders do the best they can with the absence of true leadership from the managers. The best thing about working here was the coworkers on the production floor that make the best of a terrible Management system. Alot of really hardworking individuals that actually produce the product, that eventually leave due to the hostile environment. Just look at their argumentative responses to reviews.. seems like upper management can't handle constructive feedback from employees.  


There are definitely area's to work on, but you can see they are making steps towards positive change.  They are growing and there is no shortage of work, sometimes there is disorganization and breakdowns but overall this is a good place to work.  In some ways you get out what you put in.  Wages are good, benefits are good, hours are steady and consistent, the company is growing and there seems to be opportunities available.  There are new machines, new levels of Supervisors and management and overall working there is a positive experience. 


I worked in all areas in the plant north, east and west. I found the north side supervisor the best to work for. He showed compassion was positive and he helped me learn my job better. He was really good with positive criticism and a good communicator without making you feel like you were doing something wrong. It was a great learning experience. I would definitely return to this company if I could be sure that I would be working in the north again. I left for personal reasons. 

Not as family oriented of a company as one would expect. Office and management is very disconnected from regular production staff. Employees rarely are treated with dignity and respect and often are over worked and under paid. Production is usually promised raises after a certain amount of improvement however the evaluations are never done in a punctual fashion and some form of loop hole is presented to ensure no raises are actually given. Overall the people employed there are nice and friendly. However the company is very poorly organized.

This company claims to care and do things for thier employees but in fact do not. They are terrible with training, balance of work productivity and fairness in equal " loadshare". The continental breakfast is nothing more then kids snacks and stale bagels. The management is quick to point out your flaws rather then building you up and the pay, as is posted true, is easily capped. Many machines in constant disarray and frequent power surges. Building is also very outdated with no AC.
