TransCold Distribution

Transcold Distribution is not the same as it once was.  I am a former senior employee with 10+ years experience working for them.  I've worked in sales, logistics, and even training. In and around 2019/2020 TCD made some terrible management decisions, which eliminated many jobs across Canada, without any consideration to those employees loyalty to them. When you eliminate key sales and logistics people who have a strong relationship with their customers, you lose your integrity from everyone.  Word travels fast.

I can not give TCD a good review for a place to work.  And it's obvious that between Sept 2019-Oct 2020 that there has been numerous internal online reviews from staff who still worked there, posting inflated reviews on how wonderful it is there.   It's not the same.  Stop shining this t urd.

Another unwritten rule at transcold.  Don't take any holiday time during the summer!  We weren't allowed to book any holiday time from May-September.  Not sure how that was legal. 

Beware, they have a slick HR department who will probably post a followup comment on here.  I've read every response, and I really feel that the decisions the upper management (Sales) has made in this company since Sept 2019 have made them a terrible company to work for.


The current management team actually does care about their employees and listens to their concerns/suggestions.
As it is primarily an ice cream distributor, there are huge spikes in volume during the warmer months.
Yes, there are long days involved, but I have not seen any instances where those hours were not "given back" to the employee during the slower months.
Everyone is treated fairly and equally across the board with the expectation that they are completing their assigned duties. 
The workload is not excessive nor are the expectations considering this is perishable freight.
I have worked in quite a few places that were A LOT more demanding than here.
There are some "cliques" within departments, but I have yet to work in a place that does not. And although some processes may be "siloed" all departments seem to be willing to work with each other towards the common goal of satisfying the customer, whether that is a ma & pa shop or a large grocery distributor.

This place is a joke. They spend NO money on their office or warehouse space. ( The short time I was there, I witnessed two people who had horrible accidents in the warehouse and had to go to the hospital and the operations manager admitted to me that they don't have a special anti-slip coating on the floor (which they're supposed to have )to prevent people from slipping and having these accidents. 

The office is filthy. The carpets look like they haven't been cleaned or vacuumed in years. You receive NO training and the equipment is OLD (they actually use a dot matrix printer). They have NO proper software systems and instead use a housemade system using Excel. 

The 5 star reviews are all fake and written by management. 

Administrative Assistants make $15/hr yet they expect you to have the kind of experience and knowledge that an advanced Admin would have, but they say, "oh, but you can have all the ice cream you want! Well I'm sorry but I'm not 12 years old and you can't pay rent with ice cream.

It is a wonderful and unforgettable experience working at Transcold Distribution, I have seen the company grows rapidly since it started 15 year ago.  It is a friendly and multi-culture, fun place to work, but it is challenge. 
The company always brings new excitements and new challenges to their employees, at the meanwhile, the company provides variety benefit programs, such as MSP, Group Medical Insurance, Group RSP etc.  to help their employees to maintain the best of work-life balance.
In appreciation of your services and dedications, the company has 5, 10, 15…years’ service rewards and “Employee of Year” recognition program etc.  You might be the next winner!!

The stories written here in recent reviews do not depict the experience I have at TransCold.  I love coming to work, enjoy the openness of management and the opportunities for growth.  The people are collaborative and easy to work with.  With the highs and lows of the season, being in the ice cream business, the work/life balance does change throughout the year but I like the highs and lows of the season and the energy it drives throughout the company.
I think with all companies there is turnover and change, I have seen some of that while working here yet all change I have seen was needed, in my opinion and in the opinion of most of my peers.

Deliver to TCD warehouse
Sort product, power jack use
Load trailer for south terminal
Drive 2 hours to south terminal
Help load 2 trucks
Return to warehouse...
8 - 10 hours

I enjoyed my time with Transcold while in a Outside Sales Position.  I found the management team to be extremely supportive, and mentoring. All components and departments of the company strive for improved performance while at the same time embracing family values. It was also  important that as a OSR one must be individually motivated and driven as much trust and autonomy is placed on employees. For myself this was a perfect style to work for.

Best group of people to work with! We all have fun at work and feel like we are contributing. Management is great because they trust you with a lot once you've proven yourself. You can be honest with them and they appreciate good ideas - they want to hear how it is and don't hold it against anyone because they've worked most positions on their way up. I really appreciate the work-life balance they encourage. Summers do get busy so you learn what needs to be prioritized. For such a large company, they still feel like a tight-knit group. I definitely recommend them.

If you’re not part of the upper management clique/circle you’ll go nowhere. If you feel the heat that your job may be in jeopardy do yourself a favour and bail before summer cause they won’t hesitate to remove you once it’s over. No job is worth the level of mental stress you will experience here. Come for the Ice Cream….stay til you hate it.
You’ll see a quick response from their HR dept trying to justify everything. Just read all reviews and you’ll notice which ones were made by employees who were asked to review…not because they chose to.
You can definitely do better out there. Choose wisely.


they have a great team of people, and some very great managers! people work very hard, and all most appear to be very happy in their role. However, the pay can be more- i see this as the only draw back of working here
