TransPerfect

TransPerfect offers a mixed experience as an employer. On the positive side, the company boasts an excellent management team—supportive, approachable, and genuinely invested in employee well-being. The work itself is relatively straightforward, and the training provided is extensive and thorough, making it easy to get up to speed even for newcomers. Additionally, their vacation policy is generous, allowing for a healthy work-life balance when contracts are active.

However, the drawbacks are significant. Pay tends to be around minimum wage. Perhaps more concerning is the lack of job stability—most roles of my kind are renewed on a month-to-month contract basis, which creates uncertainty and makes it difficult to plan long-term. While TransPerfect is a decent stepping stone or temporary position, the instability and low compensation may be dealbreakers for those seeking a secure, long-term career path.

Working at home was the only benefit. Otherwise, the workload expectations were unreasonable. They seem to use the “contract” format to avoid paying out benefits, and avoid penalties for laying people off with very little notice. Your contract is renewed every month or three months. It’s the same work every time. This way they have you working full time, no benefits. After working there for long and proving my productivity capabilities, they drop you quick. You’ll see job listings pop up for pretty much the exact position they didn’t need you for anymore. They are able to terminate your contract at any time with no warning. If you need something quick and don’t plan on staying it’s a viable option. Management I worked with directly were very kind, and I have no bad words about them. 

It was interesting to work on the new project at first, but gradually it became mundane/repetitive as we were doing the same task every day. Some of the grading guidelines were unclear and the client had made little effort to clarify with us. It'd have been better to receive regular feedback to improve our work, but I only received feedback once during my time there (and it wasn't particularly helpful). What made the job hard was when I encountered harmful prompts and had to grade lengthy responses that required extensive research. There were times when it was more stressful to meet the KPIs. 

It’s a mundane and repetitive job, with little to no benefits. I agree with the other reviewer that you will be held back by higher ups neglect, so keep that in mind. Turnover rate is high, and so if you don’t pass expectations, you will be let go quickly. Had to go in person to work 5 days of the week, and training is all self taught with material provided. Conversing with desk mates is what’ll get you through the day. 

You get weekends and holidays off, and local coordinators are generally really friendly and helpful. A lot of them want to see you succeed, but then again are held back by higher ups strict standards. 

I experienced challenges during the offboarding process with my last payment and paystub, and to complicate matters, they used a transaction that deducted a fee from my checking account. They are extremely disorganized, with HR lacking accountability and unable to assist. To those going through the offboarding process, be alert and monitor your payment!

My department was very busy and you'd have few project with very tight due every single day with limited resource. You'd expect to work a lot since your overwork is already included in your annual salary and you won't get paid for it. There are few opportunity to move around and grow your career but you have to hustle a lot.

We were required to caption 250 images/videos every day. I personally found it quite easy to finish within the time limit, and management tends to be accommodating if you meet the metrics consistently. Your active time will be monitored however, so do keep that in mind.

During the times I’ve worked for this company in the same role, I’ve had an overall positive experience and hope to work with them again. Being able to work remotely is a huge bonus to work I found myself was properly organized and delegated.

Independent and easy job, nice people, communicative and understanding. No complaints other than the fact that you do not get notification on whether your contract will be extended until the last minute.

The pay was fairly low, sometimes expectations were unreasonable, but at least the people were enjoyable coworkers
