I actually really liked my job at deckx. There are a lot of good guys. The older guys are always willing to teach, uou something new. The loads weren't usually to horrible.. at least once you spent some time on it.. pre loads are the worst.. I've had overweights, looking for products. Things missing.. etc. Explaing the soggy paperwork, to the customer. That was always fun. The problem a rises not with all management.. but the key few.. I spent days waiting in terminals.. rarely ever had a pre plan. So they were scrambling for loads. After you offloaded.. didnt matter how everything played. Wether I was on time. Or just doing my own thing. I very rarely got loaded on the same day. Dispatch was constantly giving mis information. Setting me up for failure. I was constantly told. To just go ahead and do it. Then given a violation form for it. Or looking for a parking space in the yard.. go over time.. violation notice. Most of the yards are absolutely chaos, most of the time. Because transx thinks they are the only company there. And just do whatever they want. And the big breaking point for me. Was the pay. Without getting decent runs, all the waiting. Sometimes dispatch just not even paying attention. Or not taking notes.. wires are constantly crossed.  So you never really make any decent money.. no matter what I did, it was just never there. I have honestly, never worked so hard. As a deck driver, and made so little.. Seems management just needs to realize. This isn't the 90's anymore.. rates have gone up since then.  And because of this, you will see. Either a lot of parked equipment in their yards. Or a lot of fresh faces all the time.. they treat their drivers horribly, pay you horribly, and then expect you to stick around.. Would not recommend this company to anyone... There are far better places, that will appreciate. What you can bring, and offer to them.. and at least you won't have to starve to work for them.

I work there because the terminal is near where I live.  I am a company driver with more than 20 yrs. experience .The level to which the trucks are maintained is among the worst in the industry - not unusual for 80% of the tractors to be out of service on any given day including for such things as expired SAQ stickers which is a clear indication that management is either incompetent or just apathetic.
The communication between dispatch and drivers is the worst I have ever seen. Often the handheld device can not be logged in and even if it is working the pickup info usually does not include necessary info like the Pick up # for pickups. Nothing seems to be verified - often we are sent to the wrong address and even if the address is correct the pickup or delivery has often been rescheduled for a later date. I have had to call back up to 5 times and escalate to upper management just to get a correct pickup # on more than one occasion.
Also management seems to have the idea that we should use our personal electronic devices for business purposes ( cell phones ) without providing any compensation in return ( which is a clear violation of the Canadian Labor code and is thus illegal). EVEN THIS SURVEY WHICH WE ARE APPARENTLY SUPPOSED TO COMPLETE ON OUR OWN TIME IS INAPPROPRIATE AT BEST. EVEN THE MIGHTY WALMART RECEIVED A SEVERE PENALTY FOR ALLOWING THEIR MANAGERS TO WORK ON THEIR DAYS OFF FOR NO COMPENSATION.
I had the expectation that TransX being a large and established business would operate with a considerable  degree of professionalism but that was clearly a mistake on my part. In closing TransX willingness to operate at or beyond legal margins is both dangerous to it's employees and the public and certainly degrades both employee morale and the workplace experience. Despite the efforts of some very good people the overall management rating can not be viewed as acceptable by any stretch of the imagination.

Would not recommend this company to a female rookie just starting out with their female Trainer,  the  recruiter knows she drives nights and apparently that's OK in his books.. 
Pay is pitiful for a rookie totally take advantage of the newbies and was personally told to my face that they aren't making any money off of me driving for them by my boss ..still trying to get paid after being let go for failing my driver test with an assisted back up.but hey they have no problem giving you a 300,000 dollar rig to drive all over Canada and the USA.
Say that if your willing to learn there are opportunities for you if you work hard and are self motivated. But don't tell your boss he's inconsiderate for not straightening out your pay after several months of employment have passed.
There is constant misinformation passed along to the drivers with wrong names and numbers for brokers and customers numbers to contact for pickup and delivery times.  Constantly chasing required paperwork in a timely time frame to meet deadlines...
Expectations for deliveries are not realistic when waiting at sheds for loading times.drivers expected to eat time constantly at every pick up.
Constantly have to babysit every trip pay to make sure they don't short you on live loads or unloads and boarder crossing meat inspections. And rate of pay was only paid right on two paychecks over several months...
They will promise you anything you want to hear to get you in the door,make sure you get it in writing because one guy tells you one thing and another guy contradicts what the other guy told you..
They have good equipment that they maintain well after all it is their lively hood as well and no body benefits from broken down equipment..no Brainer...
They lose drivers on a constant bases so this should speak volumes people so I will leave it at that...

I’VE BEEN WORKING IN TRANSX FOR 11 YEARS I WORK FROM SUNDAY TO FRIDAY AND IT’S VERY COMMON IN MY JOB TO DO ALL MY ROUTINES. I HAVE A DEDICATED RUN IT’S VERY EASY TO DO THE JOB IF YOU DO IT PROPERLY. 
TRANSX IS VERY GOOD WHEN IT COMES TO TRAINING THE DRIVERS LIKE SUMMER AND WINTER DRIVING COURSE . THEY HAVE A HIGHLY SOPHISTICATED EQUIPMENT TO TRAIN THE OLD AND NEW DRIVERS WHICH IS VERY EFFECTIVE TO ALL OF US TRANSX DRIVERS. LOOK AT THE PAST AND PRESENT WINTER SEASON AND EVEN THE ORDINARY SEASON I CAN COMPARE TRANSX TO BISON TO OTHER TRUCKING. BISON AND OTHER TRUCKING COMPANY HAS THE WORST INCIDENT WHILE TRANSX AS FAR AS I KNOW IN MY DAILY ROUTE I NEVER SEEN ONE AND I THANK GOD AND THE SAFETY PROGRAM OF TRANSX FOR THAT. 
THE WORKPLACE ARE VERY GREAT IT’S VERY ORGANIZED. MY ONLY WISH DURING SPRING, SUMMER & FALL IS THE DUST IN THE YARD MUST BE SWEEP SO THAT IT WILL NOT BE VERY DUSTY BECAUSE IT REALLY HURT MY SINUS. 
THE HARDEST PART OF THE JOB IS WHEN DURING WINTER WHEN ALL THE BRAKES WERE FROZEN AND NEED TO HAMMER THE BRAKE DRUMS TO RELEASE IT FROM STICKING TO THE BRAKES BECAUSE OF THE ICE AND ALSO WHEN THE LOADS WERE OVERWEIGHT IT’S KIND OF STRESSFUL BUT IT DOESN’T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS THE SUPERVISOR, DISPATCHER, PLANNER OR THE FLEET MANAGER ACT IMMEDIATELY TO SOLVE THE ISSUE. 
THE BEST PART OF THE JOB IS WHEN ALL THE TRUCK AND THE TRAILERS HAS NO ISSUES AND YOU ARRIVED SAFELY AND YOU WERE APPRECIATED BY THE COMPANY EVERY YEAR DURING THE SAFETY BANQUET.

Transx is better than most when it comes to listening to the driver. Exception is that they grew too big, too fast so management hasn't caught up yet and there are some areas of the business lacking good management. There is an open door policy if a driver has concerns so as a driver you can go in and talk with someone. A typical day at work is fairly stress free once you are on the move, but the day 1 is pretty stressful, trying to meet various deadlines.
The other drivers are usually pretty helpful and great to be around (sure you still have the drivers that are all negative, but those people would never be happy no matter where they are)
The salary and benefits are great as long as you stay a company driver, become a lease operator and then you will have problems. The hardest part of the job is going across the US border and having to comply with every whim, wish and fact of the Immigration and Customs officials.
The most enjoyable part of the job, is once that part is over the driver is pretty much on their own and able to run the "work day" as he/she wishes. Also there are times when it becomes possible to be a tourist in some of the most interesting spots. All in all Transx Group of Companies is a great place to work.

I learned a lot working while working at Transx for 16.5 years. Working in the terminal for 10 years wasn't really all that exciting. There is no advancement or pay increases in the terminal. I interviewed for and was hired for the mechanic shop as a service writer after 10 years in the terminal. That's where I learned more office and management skills. The shop was very fast paced, the work was easy yet non stop. I eventually made my way up to supervisor/manager. The yearly increases were fantastic, always a substantial amount. The hours were grueling, many of them being in the office and a few more at home daily. I loved what I did. I loved the hard work and the importance of my job. It was a very easy going place to work in. The employees got along very well with the office staff. 

This place nobody care about the driver well being it is all about the load and the customers and if your a new driver there is no mentor ship driver work 10 to 14 hours a day you only get pay for the miles you drove
The offices ,showers , bathrooms, drivers launch are filthy dirty and the dispatch rude on the phone there no professionalism at the I don’t want to be in a situation where I have to call them 
Can never get payroll on the phone 
They never send me a description of the taxes deducted in my pay stub I gave up stop calling them
For repair on your truck don’t send the message thru satellite nothing will be done
There is no team work here everybody his covering himself at end of the day the driver is responsible 
For the money they pay the drivers I don’t think is worthy working here. I can’t even elaborate how big is the driver responsibility pulling an heavy load from point A to point B anything that happen between point A to point B it is our responsibility.
Instead of giving sign in bonus to new driver increase drivers pay and treat them with respect without your drivers no load will reach their destination

I have been with the company for quite a number of years and I have found that the key to success is to follow the example that the senior management presents to the staff in terms of their work ethic, their interaction with fellow employees, at whatever level and the willingness to listen to ideas. You feel as though you're part of a team striving for success and advancement for the company. I have been fortunate, through my years here, in being recognized for the tasks I have been presented and my success has been rewarded through the years with advancement within the company and through various departments.
Unfortunately, within this business, there are challenges that arise out of an individuals control, weather, mechanical, etc.and this can be challenging, however it is part of the business. This is overshadowed though by a successful completion of a pickup and delivery of the customers goods.
A list of our customers company names offers a very positive example of the success of the company and my case, a sense of pride being part of this team.

Very fast paced, independent work style. Easy to get a job here as they are always hiring due to high turn over rate. Management tries, however everyone is over worked due to under staffing. 

Participating in the company football pool, or Friday golf days is a great way to get ahead. However, hard work and hand raising are rewarded with more of the same work, no additional pay or advancement. No clear employment trajectories for long term advancement. 

Major pay discrepancy between staff in the same positions, same general experience. Pay scale mostly depends on your negotiations on hire. 

All major management positions outside of HR are extremely male heavy, with women mostly contained to administrative and  entry level roles. Almost all management positions are filling through internal promotion. 

Great place for a select few people, and a great place to start out before moving on to bigger and better things if you are just trying to get your foot in the door for transportation 

Prior to Transx, I would only manage to stay with previous employers for a max of 18 months.
I needed more stimulation to keep me interested.
I have been here over 10 years now. Though I do much of the same thing day in and day out, not one day is the same. There are always exterior factors that affect our freight with weather, break downs, etc. Its part of my job to keep open communication with our drivers and our customers to ensure service is smooth.
As a full time employee and mother, I am able to work from home when my daughter is ill. I value that so much. I have been able to adjust my working hours through out the week to accommodate the needs of my family.
The tricky part is I am turning into a work-ahol and am constantly working on a work life/home life balance.
The best part with working here would be the support from co-workers and management.
Life in the transport industry can be very stressful but its good to have people you can joke with who also understand the dedication required to fulfill our responsibilities.
