•	Plan, describe, arrange, and sell itinerary tour packages and promotional travel incentives offered by various travel carriers. Converse with customer to determine destination, mode of transportation, travel dates, financial considerations, and accommodations required. Compute cost of travel and accommodations, using calculator, computer, carrier tariff books, and hotel rate books, or quote package tour's costs. Book transportation and hotel reservations, using computer terminal or telephone. Provide customer with brochures and publications containing travel information, such as local customs, points of interest, or foreign country regulations. Print or request transportation carrier tickets, using computer printer system or system link to travel carrier.
•	Offer specific training programs to introduce new agents to company used travel software. Design, plan, organize and direct orientation and training for new and existing agents. Keep up with developments in area of expertise by reading current journals, books, or magazine articles. Attend meetings or conferences to obtain information for use in training programs or to inform agents of new travel options and supplier contacts. Schedule group meetings on a monthly basis to introduce agents to new travel options or seasonal specials. Evaluate modes of training delivery, such as in-person or virtual to optimize training effectiveness, training costs. Supervise agents' application of the OPC tax on all their invoices, evaluate agents knowledge of travel suppliers, and refer agents to various travel opportunities abroad to assist in the development of their travel knowledge.
•	Formulate, direct and coordinate marketing activities and policies to promote products and services, working with advertising and promotion managers. Coordinate or participate in promotional activities or trade shows, working with advertisers, to market products or services. Identify potential clients, using advertising campaigns, mailing lists, or personal contacts. Contact prospective customers to determine customer needs, present information, or explain available services. Interview potential travel agents, supply them with information on opportunities and determine their short and long term goals. Prepare documents needed to implement plans selected by clients.

As an Independent Travel Consultant with TravelOnly you are your own boss.  You set your own goals.  Self-directed education provided by the head office and suppliers.  Excellent resources.  You are never alone in your business as Head Office provided guidance and support, as well as your fellow Travel Consultants.  It is a family atmosphere.  Hardest part of the job is setting up consistent office hours as you work for home.  You need to be disciplined.  Working with clients can be very rewarding as well as difficult in terms of satisfying each client's individual need.  You are available 24/7.

Never what you'd expect of a head office - no cubicles, not cramped, not stereotypical at all. A nice open office space with personal desks. The people there have an almost family dynamic and care genuinely about one-another in and out of work. It's quiet mostly, but there's great, diverse conversation and people. Depending on your position the workload ranges but everyone helps one another out.

Follow up all email inquiries and research travel arrangements. I learned to listen to the customer in order to provide them with the appropriated destination within their budget. The hardest part is trying to satisfy all customers and the most enjoyable is providing with they need, making them happy and able to travel as well.
