I was told Travis Perkins Head Office had quite a reputation but brushed it off when I took the job.  First week one of the a team leaders left ,3 months in 3 people left in the space of 1 month!!  I enquired about moving to Central Admin role and was told, "they're just cannon fodder in there".  Wow! I have never worked in such a nasty environment.  Favourite employees receive training whilst others are openly bullied and the atmosphere is totally toxic!  You can be given the silent treatment for weeks - that's how childish the management are.  The people who thrive in that office are the favourites, the bullies, the people who live nearby who can't be bothered to look further than there own backdoor and those who, I can only assume have been there so long theyve become 'institutionalised' that they just put up with it.  There are far too many wannabe managers in the office - too many people who don't want you to know more than them and I've lost count of the times someone has made a silly mistake and it has been blown out of proportion whilst others mistakes are hushed up.  Overall a really horrible place to work - your every task is logged on timesheets, you don't get to hear about errors until your monthly review or at the daily stand-up in front of everyone in your team and when you finally leave you queue to get out of the TP car park for 15minutes - oh, and did I mention the office mice??

I worked at CCF for a number of years and it started out great, the work life balance is decent and the people in the branch I worked at were awesome. 
But the management above branch level don’t really have a clue, and will tell you what you want to hear so you shut up, basically politicians. They’ll have a yearly Drivers meeting in which you’ll discuss the same things that have been discussed for the last 4 years in which nothing will be done about anything you bring up. A pointless exercise.
The company loves “restructuring” as they put it, but in general it always seems more like a culling. 
4 redundancies in 3 years at every branch in Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire that I visited. 
At branch level the management I thought was ok, and the yard staff were great. 
If you’re a good driver and quick, prepare for most of the work as it’s not something that gets shared equally.
The job it’s self is easy but made hard by the upper management trying to make a name for themselves and coming up with pointless new H&S rules.
The customers rule, CCF won’t say no to their customers, which in some respects is great, but in reality the customer gets promised something which isn’t possible, and then gets annoyed and complains either to the driver or the office staff (that promised the impossible to begin with)

Friendly  staff though  not enough  of them

Time  pressure, over  work load

My branch very  friendly and experienced 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Hgv  driver very busy picking  own loads

Was an amazing place to work at, everyone there was really friendly and helpful when you needed help made a bunch of good mates while being there would highly recommend for someone wanting to get into ether retail work or construction work 

Travis put me through my Hgv courses but that’s the only good thing. Constantly pushing to get more from you. If you go above and beyond they expect it time after time. 
They employ clueless managers and you are basically just a number and don’t get thanked for your help 

The job starts off well getting to learn products and building good customer relationships.  I noticed the wages never go up and you are very under paid there for the hours you have to work and the conditions outside in the weather.

My mum taught me if you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
My mum told me not to talk to strangers

When they say colleagues make a job, it’s true. 
No one looks at where jobs are, all on the driver, they expect 3/4 runs a day but to do it all by the company standard you’re looking at 1/2 runs a day

Good place to work . Management is great and benefit is very good. Co workers are helpful and plenty of opportunities to learn new things and grow your career 

was a scheme run by DPW the company was accomadting and did supply work boots they assisted and constantly made sure i was knowing what thy wanted doing and where stock was to go
