Pay might not be as good as other companies, but better than most.  After 3 years, I continued to receive pay cuts and failed to be promoted, but most of us were demoted in the company during the downturn to make room for the top dogs.  Hours of work were exceptional, where you could work long hours, get some OT and get a 6 day vacation twice a month to recuperate. Not everyone was willing as much as I was in the company and in the end it really didn't matter as they no longer had room for me and my close colleagues.  Despite all the hurt feelings, I would work for these guys again in a heartbeat if offered a term contract to protect me from market instability.  Benefits were better than most in the beginning but surreptitiously degraded every year to save on costs.  I am glad they didn't go through with forcing me to do jobs I wasn't qualified or willing to do, even though they were planning to.

Worked in Coiled Tubing Division, 15 days on, 6 days off. Training is done on-the-job, you will typically remain a "Green Hand", or New Hire, for 6-12 months. Criteria to get signed off as competent is comprehensive and reasonable, and getting signed off offers a significant boost to salary. Oil isn't $30/bbl. 
Trican is sensitive to market pricing like any other company in oil & gas, which can be a turn-off to a lot of people. Job security isn't guaranteed, as the market likes to fluctuate rather wildly. 

Other than that, you'll run in to some interesting people working in the patch. You'll learn more than you think you ever could, you'll push yourself to do work you never dreamed of doing, and you'll make a decent bit of cash while you're at it.

I worked at Trican Well Service and unfortunately, my experience was far from positive. The equipment is old, run-down, and constantly in need of heavy maintenance, which creates safety concerns and frequent delays. Despite being hired for nitrogen field work, there was very little actual N2 work to be done. Instead, I was regularly assigned to other unfavourable tasks just to piece together a pay cheque.

There was little to no direction or support from supervisors — communication was poor, and expectations were often unclear. On top of that, there was no real opportunity for advancement within the nitrogen department. If you’re looking for a place to grow your career and work with reliable equipment, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Your typical day at work in the field includes early wake ups, anywhere from 430-515 am/pm. Followed buy a 12 hour shift starting at 7 am or 7 pm depending if your day or nights. Depending on your line of work in the company your duties could change, anywhere from running sand, fueling to sitting in a cab and running controls. You learn the work needs to get done and in a quick but safe manner. The management team is outstanding when they talk about open-door policy they mean it. Your co-workers can be like any job but you learn to deal with them and accept them. Hardest part is the 15 days i find just cause you miss so much stuff going on at home. The bonding time on the bus or the Wednesday you go on days off.

Excellent they take of you and make sure you make the maximum amount of dollars they are they or close to the highest paying company

Trican is a wonderful place to work when there was growth in the industry.  I experienced amazing camaraderie both at the field and office with my colleagues.  I think management could be better.  In my 10 + years, there was no sustained strategic plan, that aligned the technical group with company objectives.  Performance reviews were not substantial at all.

Enjoyed my time here, Ran service truck and spent time all throughout alberta. Management was great, work atmosphere was good, crews were great. Long hours but were appreciated by management and obviously rewarded with overtime. Would go back in a heart beat if current life situations and living out of province allowed.

They want you to advance and learn new skills (is what they say) but they will never allow you to advance or learn new skills unless someone dies or quits and come break up time management is furious that you didn't attempt to advance or learn. Don't even think for a second that they'll take care of you if you get injured at work or not, as soon as your injured your finishedfinishedfinshedworkingthem

Check and respond to emails, Track invoices for the Safety Department. General filing in Safety Department. Audit Drivers logs and send Audit reports to Base Managers. Updating Data bases. Great people to work with. Dead lines, getting reports out in time. Enjoyed the people I worked with

Generally a good place to work. Coworkers were great, work was ok, shop was pretty decent, benefits were good.
They are riding the oil patch roller coaster, ups and downs. When they closed the Nisku branch down and layer everyone off I was on holidays and no one had the decency to contact me to let me know I was now unemployed, lol.
Middle / Upper Management questionable.
