Tridon Communications

Every employee has the potential to be a great employee. The Tridon culture that I knew didn't have time to waste on this idea. Why? Because business and customer needs were/are hitting the team at that speed of light. No one had time to waste on making people's jobs or lives easier. 
Tridon seemed to have equality in most areas, yet the company that I knew lacked equity amoungst it's people. 
Turnover was way too high, this in part came with the literal territory of Nothern Alberta. So high in fact, it seemed disheartening to managers, and thus it became accepted as business as usual. 
Speaking of managers, in four years I counted 14 different service managers. Now I know I was a pain in the @#$, but 14? No way that was all me. One of the poor %€£¥$#@&* said "not one person invited my wife and I out for drinks". 
Now I'd like to belive "the chosen one" (makes me smile) has addressed many of these issues. I know it has been made so, and I know every soul under the Tridon flag has the potential for greatness. It remains the coach's duty to see that potential come to fruition.  

As an employee that was fired, I remain the company's number one fan. Now that's saying something! 

Tridon is a great company to work with, a community pillar, and a privilege for future team members.

Tridon has a great culture and are very family oriented.  Cannot slight the people.   But there is a huge rift between owners, management and employees.   The salary gap is huge.  The way owners treat employees is laughable and the majority of management have god complexes.  The people who actually work?  Basically slaves.   
For Fort McMurray the pay is terrible. There is no northern living allowance and the salaries for technicians is well below the industry standard for Fort Mac.  
The turnover is huge.  
They have the right people to make it work but they have their hands tied by dated practices and the owners won't make any changes.  The "president" also is in need of retirement.  The business is very dated and in need of an overhaul.
There is just no incentive to stay either, other than the people. You can get better in Fort Mac and it's no wonder so many people use it as a stepping stone.  
I loved the people.  Can't stress that enough.  But I fear for the future of the company if change isn't made.

Tridon Communications was a great place to work. My co-workers were pretty awesome and so was my manager. I already had cellular knowledge but working at Tridon gave me the opportunity to learn more and to help improve my customer service skills. The hardest part of the job was getting a sale on slow days. My favorite part of the job was interacting with the public and feeling pleased with myself when I was able to help someone fix a problem. 

The downside to that company is job security isn't their strong point. They choose to lay  off one of the senior staff instead of part time workers and new hires. I felt as though I was cheated out of job security. I feel like they didn't think their decision through enough. 

I'm not going to hold a grudge against the company because I know it will not get me anywhere. I enjoyed my time there and I'm hoping to move on from this as a learning experience and find something else that I can succeed at.

High turnover of technicians . Work 12 hour days and they expect you to skip break times otherwise you're not a  "part of the team ". You have to supply your own tools and you even have to buy your own mouse for the laptop that you share with another worker. The company steadies are a bunch of finger pointers that are not very experienced with working on an industrial site. I witnessed all kinds of harassment going on . I had 3 technicians quit  within my first week of working with the company . Working for this company was demoralizing .

In a few short years this company has increased the solutions its offers to Telecommunication Customers over 3 fold. This rate of change means there is lots to learn, and you cannot be an expert at everything. Tridon employees are eager to help you cover gaps in your knowledge. They are not always available immediately, but they work very hard to respond quickly when help is required.

Email is used too much for communication, and better ways should be found. This is generally in regards to outside vendor communications, as Tridon has many partnerships. Priority communication channels work better, but not perfectly. The support computer systems are catching up to business levels which will resolve many growing pains.



During my (brief) time at Tridon, I saw it to be accompany in the midst of significant change.  I was frequently interviewing candidates so the organization could meet its hiring/staffing goals for its four locations.  Many internal policies were also being reviewed and revised as necessary.  The culture of the organization seemed largely positive, with most employees getting along with each other, along with the occasional staff lunch or BBQ.

One criticism that should be pointed out, and that is the tendency for the departments to work in ‘silos’, or at arms-length from each other, which can make communication a challenge.  Overall, though, this is a good organization with plenty of challenging projects that will help one learn and grow.  It simply wasn’t the right fit for me at this stage of my career.

The company was great to work for when we were Communication Group, but when we got purchased by Tridon Fort Mc it was got worse. All the senior techs left the company to go work for Comgroup Reddeer and left myself which was new to industry to pull the weight. They would never allow me to advance cause I was excellent at installs of 2-way into anything and GPS systems. 

The amount of pay is a joke, and they expect to jump on overtime and work out of town. Which is no problem for anyone that doesnt have a family.

My co-workers was a amazing to work with, sales people in the company was great and friendly. 

My current manger was amazing to talk to and very friendly.

The best thing about Tridon is there is always opportunity to advance and grow for anyone willing to take on new challenges and new opportunities. Put your hand up for anything be willing to work on projects that get you out of your comfort zone and just be very useful and you will do well here. If you put in the work, you will be rewarded. I was treated very well, was always given the opportunity take on new things and overall really enjoyed my time here. We started to get employee bonuses again this year, which I liked, and the company paid benefits are decent as well. I learned a lot and feel like I got some great experience.

Has the best work-life balance culture I have experience in my years of professional life.  The co-workers are some of the most professional, fun, engaging and helpful colleagues that you'll have the good opportunity of working with.

I was hired by Tridon Communication in 2018 and wanted to stay there till my retirement, but unfortunately, like many of us, got lied off due COVID-19. It was such a pleasure to work for this company. Worked couple position and training for each one was accomplished with all details i needed to be sucesful. Safety on top. People are so friendly and so helpful including my boss and all management. Can’t wait for business to pick up again so i can go back to work for this great company and with all these amazing people.
