I really enjoyed working at Trylon TSF. So much, that I went back a second time. 
I started working co-op- at Trylon TSF while in my first year of Civil Engineering. Although Trylon TSF is better categorized as being Structural Engineering and Telecommunications, there was a great deal of cross over between my program and what we did there. 
My father was the reason i chose to get into Civil Engineering in the first place, he was then, and  continues to be the strongest role model in my life. My father was also a civil engineer, and his schooling also brought him into the telecommunications industry, first working for 17 years at Bell Canada, and finishing his career at Rogers. My father helped me obtain this first co-op position. It was in Project Management. A great team of guys, a lot of fun, and a lot of learning followed. During the school year they allowed me to keep flexible hours as i worked for them designing parts for towers. I stayed at Trylon until the year before i graduated. After graduation I went a different direction and worked in Land Development fo some time. But, eventually I returned to Trylon for its atmosphere and people, although i took a pay cut from where i had been working, it was worth it.

Unless you are part of the "management click" you will not do well there.  HR doesn't help you.  The managers that have been there a LONG time totally run the show.  Good, hard work means nothing unless you agree with the "boys club" mentality.  Management shows NO appreciation for anyone that goes above and beyond.  4 years and only 1 raise.  There is nothing positive about the workplace "culture".  Stress levels were always very high.  Functions are added to a role but no additional salary is given.  The company is run very, very lean.  The 80/20 rule is very obvious.  It is expected that you work on average 50+ hrs each week.  Company morale was always very low and the higher ups never seemed to care.  There is zero training for office staff coming in.  Managers openly humiliate their direct reports with absolutely no consequence for their behavior.   Was warned by a few others in the industry not to apply - should have listened.   

Didnt mind the attitude at first had positive Hope's to get along with people for a while but later on realizing wasnt a safe working environment at all. Expect way too much of you in such short time. After I got my hours cut didnt have much time to get enough things done in one shift especially if you're the only one in the department on your shift. Poor management and employee satisfaction standards not treated with equal respect. Had noticed often that someone from CNC departments were allowed to do Fab work but got paid more. Just wasnt a happy experience overall and highly dont recommend for a first time experience to a metal shop. Be sure you have thick skin and can handle no one having your back.

Top management thinks of their profits only. They don’t care about the workers who work for them to get those savings. They keep increases employees’s stress once they get settle in their job. They never balance pay with work they are taking on top of micromanage mentality.

- never choose this company without reading reviews
- people working under management are nice yet pushing mentality is everywhere. 
- they fire employees a lot everywhere as they have no resolution policy

Great people, paid well, excellent benefits, Travel with company vehicle, you get reimbursed for hotels hotel motels flights are paid for

Working in different weather, conditions hot cold, freezing, cold, Travel long distances

It is the perfect environment and culture. They have a diversify employees it’s all in all the great company to work for.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Not many people are like me when I start work I don’t stop until my day ends

This company has the worst management. The first 2 weeks I joined as a A&E specialist there wasn't anything to do and there was no training, no welcome package, no direction. Extreme high turn overrate. I had an accident with my left hand before Christmas and the company let me go with no advance notice. They said the work was slow but I can see others task that's there is still a huge amount of work. They'll let you go no second thought. No 401k or Health insurance. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. I promised you it won't be a good experience this company rated 2 stars for a reason. 

Management here is completly horrible.   They are in over their heads and have no idea what they're doing. They have no interest in developing a competent team. They focus on micromanaging as much and as often as possible, but ignore massive levels of incompetence in their project management team. There is a weird culture thing where if the VP sends an email, 1/2 of the peiole on the chain reply all with responses like "received and understood" It's like if you don't publically bow down at VP's feet and worship their mandates you aren't seen as a valueable employee. To the board: Management is THE problem here.  Get a clue and get rid of them.

Grossly mismanaged company. Unqualified managers who have no idea what subordinate job function entails. Constantly changing priorities don't allow for any task to be performed to full potential. Everything is rushed to meet unrealistic customer requirements. Heavy in top management, not enough employees to adequately staff all departments. Everyone is overworked and given responsibility above and beyondo pay grade. Poor pay. Very little respect and gratitude shown for long and busy days.

Truly one of the worst places I have been in my career.  It starts at the top with their CEO, so out of touch with what is actually going on there. The COO has zero leadership ability, poor people skills, and is in over his head. They slashed health benefits in the middle of a pandemic after countless employees came in to work.  Blame culture from top to bottom and constant turnover, there are some good people there but they will either move on or be moved out. I have 25 plus years of warehousing, production, and distribution experience and had yet to see a place this bad. Avoid at all costs…

Financial reporting every week. Bid walks with carriers throughout BC. High expectations and responsibility for large projects running typically from a few thousand dollars to $500K. Must chase clients and vendors for PO's and invoices, attend weekly meeting with clients, price and order materials. Jobs have to meet strict deadlines and be coordinated through the Field Supervisor to schedule crews based on skills and job location. Strick deadlines, high pressure. If you don't bring in the work some employees don't have jobs. Hight turn over of staff.
