TutorBright is a company that is all about support and growth. They support students and families, but also those that work at TutorBright. They are always willing to go the extra mile and to help people become the best versions of themselves.

A typical day at TutorBright is not the standard nine to five. It is always go go go, and you are able to contribute according to what your skills and comfort levels are. You can work different hours, evenings, weekends, summers, etc., but all for the cause to help students and families reach their academic and personal goals. The standard at TutorBright is to help everyone, by being the best you can and available.

Management and co-workers, along with the culture there is always supportive and fun. It is creative, interactive and always collaborative. Everyone has fun and wants to push themselves to be better so that they can push the company to greater heights.

The hardest part of the job can be the hours. Because it is a supplemental education company, that means after school and evening hours meeting with families and students.

The most enjoyable part of the job is that you get to make a real difference in students' lives. You can help them achieve their goals and build up their confidence. You make a real impact in changing education and changing the world. That makes the hours and work worth it every single day.

I prepare lessons a day before the lesson takes place. I always work with the same students, same families which makes great and strong relationships. I am here to become like a "big sister" who teaches them on French in particular.

All of the students are different from each other -of course. TutorBright provides us a detailed background of each (what they like at school, outside of school, what they don't like, what is their favorite movie, music, food, hobbies, ....) which really helps adapting to each of them.

TutorBright is easy to reach, always present when we need it/if we need it. They try to make happy tutors so that the students are happy aswell. They easily provide some materials or any advice. I really approve how this is managed!
I work by myself, I don't have co-workers, except for the first few sessions where the director of education came with me to make sure everything is fine. (We do get to meet the co-workers few times a year, for a friendly event organized by TutorBright).

The hardest part of the job for me was once a student loses focus. I didn't use to be strict, but I learnt to be more entertaining and adapt my activities with something they like.
I really enjoy when you can see in a students eyes that he understands what he was struggling on before...!

I've worked at tutor bright for almost 2 years now. starting pay was the most I've ever had as a student. the management and head office staff is so kind and treat you like friends. my interview was my orientation and training. maybe they've added more training since I became a tutor (I hope). despite this, the staff is always ready to give you materials to support you. they have an awesome tutor appreciation party with food and a beer tap and you get to meet all the other tutors. I also became an SCC (student success coach) and the training for this was intensive which I liked. there was always snacks at the training. this job has given me so much experience in teaching and problem solving. I was allowed to not only help kids who are struggling, but learned to teach and build someone's confidence. if you can't commute/drive, I wouldn't recommend it but overall a great job at a cool startup

A good place for short term tutoring experience. Staff are polite and chatty, but confusion over management team as someone new would call from time to time. Left unsure of who to contact sometimes.
Like most tutoring companies, they provide tutoring materials. You have free access to the materials that they assign to each student. If you need more material because you use it all or it's not the right fit, you will need to contact the company or create your own. 
Very hands off management style after the initial tutee matching. No advancement or pay raise. Asked multiple times for them to correct my rate as they would put my rate as a few dollars lower then agreed upon. 
Good if you need a little cash on the side from time to time. But after driving, you won't profit. Ask for online tutoring to maximize your rate. 

If you enjoy working with kids, this job can be rewarding, especially when you see students making progress and improving their grades. However, there are some challenges to consider. Shifts are typically only one hour long, and if you accept in-person sessions, travel time and costs are not covered. Additionally, as an independent contractor, Canadian Pension Plan contribution is not deducted from your pay, so financial planning is important or you will go into debt with the government.

In terms of management, organization can be inconsistent, which sometimes leads to scheduling errors or miscommunication. In my experience, addressing these issues has not always been handled professionally by the owner. While some staff members try to correct mistakes, the overall management style can be frustrating to navigate.

I think it's really rewarding to work at TutorBright, especially if you're looking for part-time work. The company really cares for its students, and you get to pick where and who you work with. The student evaluations are thorough and they're really helpful when coming up with a good plan to work with the student. TutorBright also provides sheets to help you tutor, if you need them (but you're free to use your own stuff/none at all). They are also concerned about your wellbeing, and call pretty often to follow-up, and if you need time they definitely help set up your students with another tutor! 

Hardest part of the job would be finding/getting students, since there are so many tutors, it's pretty much first-come first-serve. But they do text/email you when they have new students, based on your location (and try not to send you students that are really far from you), and just by calling in they're super nice and helpful and try to get you set up asap.

I have been a Tutor-Mentor for almost four years with Tutorbright.

The work that we all do is not always the easiest, but working with such a supportive and friendly staff makes every day just that much more enjoyable.

- Always paid on time or earlier! 
- Commute as close or as far as you wish. TutorBright does their best to match you with students within your immediate area but will expand the distance if you're interested.

TutorBright provided me with a very supportive work environment, and made me feel confident when tutoring and mentoring students. Since I was a full time university student at the time, the ability to take on students and figure out hours at my own pace was amazing. The director of education at the time always made sure that I was set up with appropriate resources and information when working with new students. If you are interested in working with children/youth, or anyone with educational needs, you will enjoy this. The time spent mentoring and tutoring my students was such a wonderful and rewarding experience. 

I have greatly enjoyed my time with Tutor Bright! Each of my students required very different attention and were from very different educational backgrounds, however my boss, upon the first meeting, always had enough background information so that I could meet the students' needs even during our first session.  The families were all very welcoming which contributed to a comfortable teaching environment.  Sometimes scheduling conflicts may arise, but for the most part student-tutor pairings are based on the availability on both ends and so conflicts are rare.  If someone is looking to tutor with any company, Tutor Bright should definitely be their first choice!
