This is a good company to start out in. If you work hard and learn the ground, they see that and you may get the opportunity to move up and so will your wage. If you aren’t willing to work a shovel or rake for a summer as a newbie, it probably won’t be a great fit for you. Don’t expect to just start out and run a machine- learn how to grade, stringline, rake etc.- basically learn the groundwork, ask questions. I’ve found pretty much all the operators to be helpful if you show you’re willing to put in the effort. I started out at base wage with no construction background (only skid experience) and have moved up a fair bit from there after a few years. I showed initiative from the get-go and received an increase in wage very quickly. Show your foreman’s and operators that you’re willing to go the extra mile and it’ll pay off. 

Early mornings and late nights. Fast paced work makes the days seem short. I started green in the industry and have learned and worked my way from the ground up. I now run various equipment and take on lots of new challenges every day.  Working here I have gotten to know some of the greatest people I have not only worked with, but have met. A real family orientated place. Management is wanting and willing to help you succeed in the industry, with their downfalls being in organization. The hardest part of this job is being away from your family. Summer time you work 12 hours days 6 days a week. Being a young father to a newborn I find it difficult to be away for such long hours. All together this company and this job have been one of the greatest experiences in my life and I would recommend them to everyone.

Twin City Excavating has given me the opportunity to challenge myself and develop new skills. It can be a great place to work if you are motivated, punctual, responsible, proactive and safety-conscious. A very forward-thinking and progressive company, Twin City employs many women in an industry dominated by men.

The hours can be daunting, but that is true of all companies in the industry. "Make hay while the sun shines" is a very accurate description of the work season at Twin City. Management will expect you to work 10-12 hours a day, 6 days per week during peak season. Sometimes more will be required.

If you are a hard working person, opportunities for advancement are readily available.

Great company for those who like a combination of running equipment, manual labour, and working outdoors. All crew members do a mixture of manual labour and running various equipment, so it's nice that the hard work is shared and no two days are the same. Those who show particular skill in a piece of equipment usually get advanced to an operator, then from there there is potential to advance to foreman. It's nice to see in-house advancement rather than hiring outside for supervisory positions. The worst part of the job I'd say was the long hours and minimal days off, but what can I say - you make hay while the sun shines. 

The supers were great to work for, project coordinator is up on a high horse, worked for this company for almost 2 years and gave them all of my spare time and got no appreciation what so ever. Was one of the best hoe hands they ever had. Low pay with no room to make more. Good place to learn but if your a finish operator you might as well go to deford or kitchton. Save yourself the headache and time

The work consisted of site preparation for paving/concrete pouring. We were provided with the necessary tools. The work was time sensitive in that other crews were booked to come in and we had to be ready. The work requires strength and occasionally the hours would be long, but overall it was reasonable. A good company.

Love working here! Having a great work ethic and willing to do everything gets noticed and is appreciated! Smaller company so not just a number and get treated great by co workers and management! Always have lots of work and chance for winter work is there for some.

Upper management is terrible and ruining the company . 1 man in particular.

I take Blueprints that site superintendent gives me and apply them to the area of work. i give specific tasks to my crew and make sure the job is getting done in an efficient manor. i pride myself in the ability to follow grades that i am required to make and get them within a quarter of an inch on the mark, if not perfect.

I enjoyed working at TCE.  The equipment is new and well maintained.  The management is friendly and supportive.  They do good quality work and I was proud to work there.
