A typical day at the mill will be different for every different department. Production employees like I was, worked rotating 12 hr shifts and on several occasions working up to 18 hrs a day. 
Management changed often during company reconstruction and bankruptcy.
Workplace culture is unionized and was fastpaced will high levels of stress and overtime.
The hardest part of the job was balancing work-home life. Long hours with day and night shifts in the same week made it difficult to sleep.
The most enjoyable part of the job was working with my fellow team members, management and staff to accomplish our production goals. That feeling of getting the job done on time with attention to quality for our customer all over the world was great.

There is no team work, decisions are made based on cost and cost only. Buildings are falling apart and accidents happen on a regular basis. Managers and supervisors have no experience and no respect for the employees or their opinions. Toxic envirement to work in, very negative. People are starting to leave their jobs and they have a hard time finding replacements. We are told not to complain since we are lucky to work in a pulp mill and have a good salary.

I had no issues working there as a supervisor in the sawmill. Great group of people. Shifts were scattered and I felt they could have been handled better as it made scheduling difficult.
Small towns are where these places are. I only left due to my wife and her family (kids). I'd still be there otberwise. 

Worked at the Plaster Rock lumber mill for almost a year. The work place was old, dirty, and the company wasn’t willing to invest any money into the mill. Management couldn’t even follow the schedule that they made up. Workers didn’t like each other and would rather see someone fail than help. Was top for one of the worst positions I’ve ever had within my career 

Boiler room itself is relatively new and clean, but the fuel handling system is cobbled together from old conveyors, and the quality of the fuel is terrible in the winter time. 

There is an overall disregard for safety by many of the mill workers, upper management is a revolving door of people who don't care about the operation and only care about profit, and the union has to be the worst I have ever worked for.

Not worth the headache.

Really it's not to bad of a place to work if you don't mind not being recognized for anything. You may be asked to do favours to keep the mill going but never get anything to compensate for keeping it running. If you have a good production shift you are expected to beat it the next shift.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Mill is stable and has good production.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They put more emphasis on french language.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Dont follow international standard of communication.

Great place to work. The work and life balance is good there. Overtime is optional but it's there if you need it. The boss at the time was a bit of a joke but I've heard he no longer works there. All in all I'd recommend Twin Rivers to anyone

It ok. No work/home balance. No schedule. Changes all the time forcing you to work 2 days and 4 nights with no extra pay. Schedule come out Thursday For the week starting that Sunday. 

i want to move my family out west for work better chance to grow....better opportunities. I want to complete my 2nd class power engineer in a near future to have more stability for work.
