Two Month Work Practicum

Program Support Community and Social Services Meadowlark	Mar 2018–Apr 2018
•	Answer client questions on the telephone or in person to determine client needs for referral to appropriate worker
•	Respond to inquiries related to over-payment of Income Support
•	Perform manual filing for BFE files and initiate file transfers/closures to various DOs
•	Issue secure documents such as bus tickets, drug authorization, purchase vouchers and signature authorization adhering to policy and procedures 
•	Distribute incoming and outgoing internal mail
•	Provide fax, computer support, photocopying and scanning assistance to clients
•	Check client’s appointments with worker and add to wait list using ASC Client Tracking
•	Use Mobius for extensive information and data search, checking notes managed through the Inbox Section
•	Access client file downloads and status using Central Client Directory (CCD) and LISA
•	Search for files, drag and drop to dropbox for Imaging and Web upload to SharePoint
•	Enter client file numbers to obtain pin numbers in Automated Reporting Card (ARC)
•	Monitor Deli Numbers from google docs and advise clients of progress based on first come first serve basis

Working in government of Alberta is very interesting. They treat you well and all the employees are friendly. Managers don't act bosses but leaders. They motivate you and they are mentors. The team office is very supportive to each other. They have unity and they help each other well. I have learned how to be more adaptable and organize because the office is really busy. Good communication is really important for them to work properly and to attain goal for the office. The manager is so kind and approachable. The work culture is very pleasant and transparent in a way that everything are visible for you to recognize what the office is really after to. You can really see the mission and vision are attainable. The hardest part of the job is when the due date is coming for the student application. I enjoyed working in here because they treat you well.

It is a busy ministry where time management is important. At the start of the morning it is important to process the outgoing and the incoming mail.The work is distributed as they have "to do's" schedule/rotation. They are all welcoming and everyone is willing to teach me as a practicum student there. Sometimes there are angry or frustrated clients but it is the best feeling when we have done something to help them resolve their issue.

Productive,excellent workplace culture,the most enjoyable part of the job is shadowing the court clerk in the court room. very friendly and supportive management and staff. Some of the duties performed are as follows:
Mail court orders 
Make Label for outgoing mails
Numerical Filing for case filing
Answer phone calls about inquiries
Scan, process, and filed document at court house
Photocopy and fax documents

Employees has respect to each other and everyone is very approachable. I experienced diversity of work and great customer service. I learned facility reconciliation which was very challenging on my part. I enjoyed my experienced in customer service (answering clients questions, sending Emails). I had experience accurate data entry using Excel and upgraded my skills in using Google suite.

Practicum work area is full of positive people where respect and work ethics is highly practice.  Very professional co-workers, helpful and willing to train people to be the best they can be.

People I worked with are very warm and friendly. The management staff are very approachable and always ready when you need help from them. They value teamwork as it is their practice in the office.

I had a lot of fun while learning and putting my newly developed skills to the test. I had many opportunities to learn about everything there is to learn in the two months.

I really enjoy working in this place, very nice people, they are so supportive, so helpful. they want to make sure everyone is ok. I like the location because of the easy access to the public transportation.
