U.S. Army

Working as an Automated Logistical Specialist in the U.S. Army was a rewarding experience that helped me develop both professionally and personally. The position provided extensive training in inventory management, supply accountability, logistics operations, and the use of automated systems to track and manage equipment and supplies.

One of the greatest strengths of the Army is the emphasis on teamwork, leadership development, and personal responsibility. I had the opportunity to work alongside dedicated individuals from diverse backgrounds while supporting missions that required accuracy, organization, and attention to detail. The experience taught me how to perform effectively under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and adapt to changing operational requirements.

The Army also offers valuable benefits, career advancement opportunities, and educational programs that can help service members achieve long-term goals. The structured environment promotes discipline and professional growth, which can be beneficial both during military service and in future civilian careers.

While the job can be demanding and may require long hours, deployments, or frequent relocations, the skills, leadership experience, and sense of purpose gained from the experience make it a worthwhile career path for those interested in logistics and supply chain management.

Going to PT every morning, get cleaned up for work duty, get of when the job is complete, no regular hours. Have a sense of accomplishment when the day is done.

I learned self discipline, physical and mental training, different trades and skills. I learned what the real world is doing and how to survive in it. I went to other countries and learned their culture, their languages, and they are just as humane as we are.

I had some of the best managers/mentors the world has to offer.

There were good and not so good co-workers. All had something good to teach me. 

Spending so much time with so many great people in so many different places and the retiring so I could move on with my life.

The most enjoyable part was going to so many different places and meeting so many different people. Learning how to live in so many different places, speak different languages, eat different foods and really enjoying life.

Will wake up at the crack of dawn Monday thru Friday to do some good physical training to start the day. Start a normal day of work at 9 AM and assist soldiers, and leadership in any way, shape or form my job allows me to do. It may have to deal with getting their finances straight, handling some legal issues for the Company Commander or First Sergeant when soldiers have issues, as well as lend emotional support to those who just need someone to talk too. I work with my computer on a daily basis, whether it be handling correspondences, sending emails, creating and updating trackers, making memorandums, etc. I have been on one deployment to Afghanistan and am proud to say I have served my country,, which is the most enjoyable part of my job. Being able to make a difference, stand for freedom, and lend a hand to those in needs. The hardest part of the job, is knowing that you may get sent back out on another tour at any time, having to move around lot, and not being able to spend as much quality time with my 3-year-old daughter as I would like.

Cadets has played a large role in my character development. Cadets is a military based program, not actually associated with the military, however the aim to build the same structure and characteristics that the military enforces. A typical evening (we would meet once a week)  begin with an opening parade involving marching and other military drill movements, then we would proceed to classes, after classes we would have a closing parade then return home. I learned many things from Cadets I learned how to work with others as a team, how to lead groups of people, how to ask for help when I needed it and other life skills. The officers in charge of us were/ are very friendly and helpful. The other youth who attend are also friendly and sociable. The hardest part about Cadets is pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. The most enjoyable part is meeting new people and trying new things. *Please note this was not formal military involvement, Cadets is an extracurricular activity. Also this was in Canada not the U.S*

My belief is being a part of a structured environment is a beneficial to many aspect of ones life and this is exactly what a military or armed forces profession brings. The Army also affords you the opportunity to travel and meet others from different walks of life while building friendly and professional relationships that can last a lifetime. The Army can provide endless possibilities in regards to career choices and whatever you may have in mind there's usually something close to fit the particular job or life endeavor. Lastly although this lifestyle might not be for everyone I think its one of those situations that can turn out to be something you and your family might cherish for some time.

I went to college in PA and for four years I was an ROTC cadet. Upon graduation, I was commissioned into the US Army. Within 30 days I was in Field Artillery School at Ft. Sill, OK and learned how to be a leader and a soldier. I spent the next 21 years learning everyday, in harsh conditions like winter in Germany and Korea and in office and classroom conditions in places like Wichita, KS and Lawton, OK. It was an excellent experience and one I will forever remember. I met many unique people, some who are friends to this day. I learned how to make decisions in difficult situations and it taught me how to manage people and to get the best out of them.

I learned about actuarial tables, self-insured insurance rate setting and collection, various types of financial investments. Management was excellent, probably the most talented group of professional I ever worked with. Co-workers were exceptional people with a high degree of professionalism. Leaving was the hardest part of the job. Going to work each day and knowing you are respected were the most enjoyable parts of the job

I chose the Army as it had the least amount of time I had to enlist for, with a choice of assignment of what I wanted to do, and not be in the infantry. I had chosen to be a Personnel Specialist, but my orders got mixed up and I became a Finance and Accounting Military Pay Specialist. I got to work with a fine group of people comprised of civilians and military personnel. Moving up in rank was not a problem, as long as you did your assigned work.

Being in the Vietnam war was a lesson in life that we should avoid such conflicts.  I am very proud of the fact I made a stand against oppression.  Every single human being has the right to be free and determine his or her  way in life. The horrors of that war taught me a lot about myself as a person.  Treat people with respect and help those are hurting.  Thank you for this opportunity.
