U.S. Army Reserve

A typical night at work for the Canadian Forces would be coming in and signing the pay sheet. at 19:00 hrs we would have first parade and then after that I would go to the weapons vault and sign out the weapons to the other soldiers. I would then help to other co-workers prepare equipment for the weekend if there was going to be training that weekend. There was often a lot of standing around and doing nothing, which would irritate me and I would grow increasingly bored, At 22;00 hrs we would have final parade and be dismissed to go home.
I learned to be disciplined and to manage my time better. I received WHMIS training.
There was no management in the Canadian Forces. We had a change of command and you had to what anyone with a high rank told you to do, no matter how ridiculous the task was.Most co-workers were nice but a lot of them were bullies and would belittle you and put you down if you were an underdog or not good at something. 
The hardest part of the job was being able to go away for long periods of time. Having children kept me from being me from being away as I had responsibilities at home.
The most enjoyable part was firing the C7 rifle and C9 and C6 machine guns.

Provides advice to subordinate units and is the authoritative resource person on diverse military personnel questions or problems in a multitude of action areas including strength management and assuring compliance with procedures and regulations. Provides technical guidance to reservists assigned to assist in functional areas.
Manage administrative and clerical operations of the headquarters office. Direct administrative services and personnel operations for internal operation of the headquarters. Coordinate and supervise training of ART or Reserve personnel performing administrative and clerical duties at the headquarters.
Serves as the scan operator and authorized official in the Personnel Electronic Records Management System (iPERMS).

This is the largest Brigade in the US Army, and includes more Department of Army Civilians than soldiers.

AMCOM is made up of detachments spread literally throughout the globe.  Subordinate units are frequently scattered, members attached to 'detachments' at various locations and comprised more as task force detachments than standard units.

During the military I learned and developed the skills to do the job I had in the army but also gained other skills that would help with other jobs. I learned CPR and first aid as well as WHMIS which is helpful in many jobs in the civillian life.

I started in the reserves when I was 17 and clueless.  As I grew up in the army, I learned about life and what I wanted from it.  As I moved up, I realized that an education was what I wanted to get out of being in the army.  Luckily, the army encouraged and supported university education.

The Army Reserves is the best part time job in the US considering pay, benefits and the prestige of being a soldier.  Unlimited opportunities for advancement and career choices.  You can't beat it.

Teach class for 6 to 10 hours a day.

Field training is always the best part of the training. That is when you get to put all of it together. And that is when I get to see the students shine.

I have a great group of trainers that I work with. We all bring a vast set of skills to the table when it comes to teaching.

the reserves was an interesting experience and ive had a fun time with them but ive figured its time for another job, building bridges, explosives, hands on work, management was well structured, staying up 3 days at a time with out sleep, shooting targets and blowing stuff up

good place to work sometimes long hours, but its expected with the job. The hardest part of the job i when you are in the field for long periods of time.

i dont know it wasnt for me. you can do anything and everything without the army. me being in the army did not improve my job situation. and half of the time they had you stupid stuff.
