U.S. Marine Corps

Yeah I definitely don't recommend this to anyone who enjoys there freedom yeah I understand when you join you lose some of them but there is only so far someone can go before it just turns into straight bullying they will play games with you because they got in trouble from a higher up I am talking about SSGT and GYSGT and such even cpl sometimes and if you don't like being treated like dirt and be raided and you try to fight back you better be prepared for the demotion coming your way you cant fight back they seem to conspire with each other to screw you as much as they can to look good themselves and if you do somehow win once they will keep coming after you until you fall and write you up for everything and anything they don't like so I am warning you you will regret it unless you enjoy being treated like trash

- Brotherhood/sisterhood. Best relations I've ever had was in this community. 
- Work experience is okay but just like the prisoners, got to do your time and work your way up from security. Responding to codes every now and then but can be pretty quiet. 
- Favoritism can be an issue but put in the work, keep your head down and you'll promote and stand apart.
- Pay/benefits can be good but depends on your duty station (military as a whole). Our level of work in an understaffed facility you can make more in federal, state, or local corrections/jails. However, no one can beat a 20 year pension for dealing with only a 1/3rd of the BS you'd encounter outside miliary corrections.
- Condition your body & mind. Unlimited resources for improving physical fitness and off-duty education (college, trade, certifications, licensure, volunteering).
- Heavily institutionalized* Keep in mind, this organization is our nations premiere emergency response force. Do NOT expect an 8-4 job, and joining up for the monetary benefits only may not be wise however, people do.


An organization defined by history, and a tradition-bound modus operandi, the United States Marine Corps distinguishes itself worldwide in the eyes of both ally and adversary, as a professional, and highly trained fighting force.

With a strong commitment to it's own, the organization maintains a good esprit de corps among the ranks, along with the willingness and resources to better allow these to further develop themselves into achieving their highest potential.

Yet, the aforementioned should not imply the branch itself is without faults, or flaws. Experiences will be as unique as the individual, whom will ultimately define what has transpired during his service period.

In summary, life in the Marines is that of a profession with the promise of a journey to those who remain after devoting everything to it's selection process.

As an infantry marine; training, learning and practicing your trade, is how normal days are spent. 

Learning discipline, accountability, hard work, dedication, team work, leadership skills, public speaking.

Military is on a high form of management, delegating orders, passing information and accounting for personnel and equipment.

Co-workers were hard working, dedicated workers.

Hardest part of the job was deploying to combat zones, leaving family and friends behind, putting my life and my military family's lives in danger, and hoping to return all my personnel home safe to their families. 

Favorite part of the job was the traveling the world, meeting new and exciting people and races, enjoying new cultures and places.

One of the finest fighting forces in the world. The Marine Corps has a long history and many traditions that carry over to today's warriors in the Marine Corps. Marines can adapt, improvise and overcome any challenge that they face.There is no such thing as a typical day in the Marine Corps, every day is different. I learned many skills in the Marine Corps that I still hold close. Leadership, Initiative, Judgement, Dependability, Tact, Integrity and that warrior spirit to fight for things that I believe in. My brother Marines have been and will always be there for me as I will for them. The hardest part of the job is leaving at the end of the enlistment. The most enjoyable part is all of the friendships, the traveling abroad and earning the title of MARINE.

Military life is a complete different culture that some would recognize and then they would not.  I enjoyed knowing that your very goal is the same goal as your mentor and his/her mentor.  Everyone working as a team, not as separate members, but as a whole to complete the final goal.  The on-job training was phenomenal, at the point you feel confident to add it to your toolbox and use the training in other areas.

A typical day at work varied completely because of variation in operational tempo and commitments. We could be laying out inventory of tactical/commercial gear or out in the field preparing for a deployment. I learned that time management is crucial to success, as well as maintaining professionalism in any and all work situations. The hardest part of the job is the time commitment, being deployed for 6-12 months at a time as well as numerous 1-3 month field operations in order to prepare for deployments can be taxing. The most enjoyable part was the comradery and brotherhood.

Nothing has prepared me more as a business leader than the lessons I learned in the Marine Corps. Lessons of discipline, organization, commitment and integrity all play a vital role in the success of my professional and personal endeavors. 

Since my days of being on active duty, I have tried to live a lifestyle of continual growth, develop a sense of responsibilities amongst my peers, be technically and tactfully proficient in all that I do, keep lines of communication open at all times, train my subordinates as a team, and above all else to set the example wherever I am at.

Working for the United States Marine Corps was a challenging but very rewarding experience. I obtained strong problem solving skills, the ability to adapt and overcome any situation. I led Marines on day to day objectives in our communications shop. I had hands on experience working on tele communications equipment like radios satellites and data servers. The most enjoyable aspect of my service was the people I met and great friendships that came along. I am glad I was able to learn so many valuable skills that i took with me upon my separation from the corps.

Other duties assigned.
