I’ve worked as a budtender here since 2023, and I’d strongly recommend thinking twice before applying.

A typical shift involves repetitive cleaning, restocking, and, if you're assigned a till, taking customer orders. The store is often overstaffed, which leads to pressure to appear busy even when there’s little to do. Management monitors staff closely through cameras and frequently calls in to comment, which creates a stressful and micromanaged atmosphere. Staff will get written up for the smallest things, such as taking too long in the bathroom (which is a single bathroom shared by over a dozen people). 

You're expected to wear store branded clothing, but when you're hired you are only given two shirts, so you have to spend money out of pocket for your "uniform". There also isn’t a proper break room , just a small storage area that’s usually occupied by others doing tasks. 

There are no benefits, the staff discount is only 15% despite high product prices, and raises are infrequent and small. Advancement opportunities seem based more on who you know than performance.

More concerning, there were serious complaints raised about inappropriate behavior by a manager, including the sharing of explicit content with staff. These concerns were not meaningfully addressed, and several employees left as a result. The workplace culture can feel uncomfortable, especially for women, and there's a clear lack of accountability from leadership.

There are better dispensaries out there that offer a more professional and respectful work environment.If I had to lend advice to the owners, it would be to treat your employees with more respect and appreciation. We are making them millionaires while we struggle to pay our bills. This is reflected in the extremely high turnover rate. 


I worked at UEM Cannabis for a while, and unfortunately, there is little to no scope for growth within the company. Career advancement is nearly impossible, as management does not provide clear paths for progression or recognize hard work. Employees are often stuck in the same roles with no real opportunities to develop new skills or take on additional responsibilities.

Internal politics make things even worse. Favoritism plays a huge role in promotions and opportunities, with certain employees receiving better treatment regardless of their performance. Management tends to prioritize personal relationships over merit, creating an unfair work environment where genuine talent and dedication go unnoticed. Office politics also lead to unnecessary conflicts, making the workplace toxic and discouraging teamwork.

On top of that, the company focuses more on pushing sales than fostering employee growth. There is minimal training beyond the basics, and employees are rarely encouraged to take on new challenges. The lack of incentives or rewards further reduces motivation.

If you’re looking for short-term work, this place might be fine. But if you’re hoping for career growth, skill development, or a fair work environment, UEM Cannabis is not the right place. I hope management takes steps to address these issues.

The job functions themselves are pretty easy and straightforward. Pack delivery orders, plan your routes, maintain great customer service. 

What is driving  me away from this job is the internal politics and drama. Upper management/owners are unsupportive and choose favourites. Coworkers for the most part are great, but when there is a person who becomes a problem management will turn a blind eye. 

There are no benefits, and if you ask for a raise they will look at you like you have two heads, despite all you have done for them. There are little opportunities for advancement and skill growth unless you are one of the favourites. Decisions made by owners are straight up baffling sometimes

I do not see a bright future for this company, their goodwill with customers and employees is going downhill fast and more competition is opening up in the market. 

Horrible management AKA the owners of this joint. (Staff are amazing, hard working people.) They make you sign your life away and don’t believe in their employees having a life outside of work. Told workers to come in/continue working even after fainting, COVID, other sicknesses, also did not GAF about your mental health. They also make you feel really bad if you call in sick. They hoard the top floor of the building for what they call an ‘office’ but are barely there. It’s mostly cobwebs and dust. They’ve taken more than half of the staff room as well, which btw, a janitor’s closet is much more suffice. Raises are .25 to .50 cents each, if you ask for one. They don’t allow any of their workers to converse which is why every time you come in everyone looks like they’re dead. This place is traumatizing. Would thrive so much more if the owners weren’t selfish, entitled, egotistic people. They only care about the money. Do I need to say anymore? (The list goes on) 

As a customer and former employee, if I were you, I'd recommend NOT applying to this place.

It's already an overwhelming environment to work in. It's fast paced, busy, and you need to be well educated on the products. The drama with management just creates an even more stressful workplace. 

Staff come and go often, the turn over rate is absolutely ridiculous. This is due to burn-out, unfair treatment, and an uncomfortable work environment. The owners are some of the rudest, selfish, and money hungry people I've ever had the displeasure of working for. 

Im dead serious when I say this, if you have any form of mental health issue don't tell them. They are the least respectful and understanding bosses. They will literally throw all your problems right back in your face. 

Trust me, you deserve better. This place isn't worth it in the slightest. 

The people who run this establishment are entitled and hotheaded with little to no regard for their staff and the people that support their business. Staff are treated as expendable and the turn over rate is incredibly high as only people desperate enough to put up with the constant micromanagement; are able to stick it out here. They do not trust their employees and will CONSTANTLY monitor all activity and will call to complain about what they see on the cameras. They will not hesitate to reward loyalty with extra work load and a dismissive attitude. Save yourself the stress and job insecurity by applying to a dispensary that cares if you live or die. 

I commend them for taking what should be an incredibly fun and fulfilling job and making even the kindest person hate doing it because they’re being micromanaged by people who don’t care about them

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing, Lee always calling to complain about things that he doesn’t know… unnecessary restock. No the best place to work, and that is why you not gonna be able to see people that had been working for more than a year there, everyone quit

Every aspect … special low staff and big line without the owner to help

Busy, never stops, they ask you to do extra hours all the time

There isn't one as this company is very toxic.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Micromanagement from upper management. Mean girl energy, belittles you, can't talk to other employees while working, you need to be constantly cleaning, they don't give you good hours. Constantly watching you on cameras, bad products that are expired.

Unprofessional and micromanaging.

owners/higher management - will tell you to put on a happy face and leave your stress/home life at the door or you will be at risk of losing your job. 
allowed employees to throw up on the job during covid season and would force them to continue working as if nothing happened. 
don't expect to be happy working there unless you're in it with your other co-workers.
