There are many varied issues with serving military personnel, but they are fun to work with. Work starts as soon as you get out of the car and finishes when you get home. There are always people wanting something before their class starts. Many serving armed forces have issues with their deployment and what to expect in war zones. A few of those deployed kept touch asking for advice whilst out of area. It can be difficult to work with military-minded poeple. they work in a completely different way, but I learned from this to be more flexible. My co-workers work and play hard and cope with working with civilians very well. Hardest part of the job is learning that one of your students has been killed whilst deployed. Dealing with this and fellow students is draining. I have enjoyed working in the military environment.

My most recent line Manager was brilliant, and it's a shame that I have had little time with them let alone being unable to actually perform many tasks whilst in the redeployment pool.

Before the redeployment pool, it simply had the feel of a big fish in a small pond, the work was quite easy, and I ended up spending some of the time looking deeper into the programs that I work with, challenging myself to see if I could do the work faster, setting up chained databases, where if I entered data on a specific line for one database, it would update the linked lines for presentation purposes, time-based data, where monthly and annual presentations would be complete either early or on time.

As a forces veteran now re-employed by the MOD in a security function, I understand the red-tape culture that exists but, as long as you respect the organisation which pays you and come to work in a positive frame of mind you will have an interesting and productive day. Leave allowance is brilliant compared to many other employers, support systems for personal issues are always available from managers who must assist when required. The  Equality and Diversity programme is in full swing. I feel pride when I put on my "work clothes" and fully believe this role will take me to retirement. They'll have to drag me out kicking and screaming or slip me a mickey.

The Regiment has served with distinction in almost every campaign fought by the British Army - in the Peninsula Campaign, at Waterloo, and in both world wars. Every December the Regiment still celebrates its defence of Hougoumont Farm at Waterloo, with a brick from the farm being paraded around barracks by the Sergeants' Mess. In recent years, the Regiment has been deployed to Northern Ireland, the Gulf, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Answering the telephone and making medical appointments and dealing with paperwork for deploying personnel.
Every day was a learning day as policy changes and updates is ongoing.
Respectful workplace culture .
My role is particularly challenging in many areas there is no hardest part that sticks out.
Everyday was different with enquires so the role does not become mundane thus keeping it enjoyable .

Good pay and prospects depending on department and specialisation.
Fringe benefits good, shift work and work-life balance generally good.
Change for internal moves good, variety of work good.

Brilliant ethos but not managed well.most departments are micromanaged and individual people and performance is not appreciated . But great starter to civil service

At first the job was good and a great team to work with.
However over the years the job has gone down hill and is now being contracted out.
Overall management very poor.
