UNCLE TETSU

I worked at UT for almost 3 years. Right away, I realized how crazy the workload could be. It’s a very demanding franchise, which invites customers in by the boatload. The experience working there varied like crazy. Some days were okay, very chill and relaxed - and other days I’d be pulling the hair out of my head and running around the store. 

The management is awful. Like, awful, awful. They were constantly so messy and disorganized. There was never EVER enough people working, because we were constantly understaffed. No one cared as much as they should have there. The management is definitely one of the reasons I left. 

One thing that I wished they would explain more when you were hired is the possibility of life-long injuries due to the high demand nature of the job. Nobody warned me of the possibility of having carpal tunnel, which I unfortunately developed within months of me working at the company. They didn’t tell us to stretch our hands/wrists or anything, I’ve even heard of other employees from other locations developing the same issues. The job was very stressful, caused me to develop acne issues. So stupid. I also developed a back issue.

The best thing that I got out of the job was the good pay (however I feel as though we could have still been paid more for the work we did), and the great friends I made working there. But that was just my experience. 

When I first had gotten hired here, I was very excited and grateful to become part of Uncle Tetsu. The managers were very nice and made me feel welcome for the first month, but then it went downhill from there.

I can admit that as a first job, I didn’t have much experience to which I took the initiative to ask for help and clarification when I needed it. Yet when I would ask simple questions, it would be met with sarcasm and belittlement without any constructive criticism to take away from it. And according to other employees, it seems that this kind of behaviour was common enough for them to notice it as well but don’t speak up due to being terminated. If you have a lot of other events and things like extracurricular activities going on in your life, I would not reccomend working here as the management expects you to prioritize coming into work. On the other hand, there are coworkers are sweet and are enough to get you through the day.

To conclude my review, I would say that the job is wonderful and is fulfilling if it weren’t for the bitter attitude of management.

Working at UT was a nice experience but ultimately management ruined the environment.

- a typical day includes working at cash, packaging cakes, producing cakes, putting away delivery, and cleaning up.
- workplace is predominantly asian but store had different races and ethnicities so overall everyone worked well together with little to no racial divide.
-great coworkers who were the highlight of the entire job

-sometimes you'll recieve shifts or barely any at all for the entire week! (there's more FT than PT so don't expect many shifts if you apply as PT).
- some managers tend to micromanage or be passive-aggresive everything which made me dread coming into work 
- loads of fruit flys and regular flys
- sometimes managers fail to make sure ingredients didn't go past their expiry date
-friendly customers but also the occassional entitled ones.
-managers will talk negatively about you to other coworkers even if you're right in front of them.

I've worked here for more than 4 month. I can definitely say that this is not the best place on earth. People are kind and nice. Job is easy. Managers are horrible. They don't even know what to do. This company is ruled by stupid politics game. There are so many things you can do for this company, but old, lazy managers won't let you to do anything for this company. They don't even know they are slowly dying. 

As everybody can guess, the hardest part here is also about human relationship. Most managers might have lower experience and, maybe lower brain than you. It's going to be very stressful if you're smart or full of great ideas. This is not a good place for you, buddy.

This is the first job I went to work and always felt sad. The management was RUDE! They treat you like your nothing. They were very selective when it came to certain people. I had the most seniority and they kept all the minor employees and terminated me and a few others with 2 days notice, when they're suppose to give 2 weeks. They're dirty, legit the store! So much fruit fly's. It's managed by young people who don't even know how to manage. Team members got in trouble from Head Office for inventory that management was suppose to do.
Honestly a very bad experience. I worked my a**off for these people to treat me like SHI*!! All in all my co-workers were great to work with, well a few.

Staff would get hired right away if their ethnicity are same as store manager  even though they are unable to speak proficient English. Hard to communicate with most staff as they lack communication skills. 
Not all staffs are treated fairly by current store manager! Vietnamese language dreads the entire store loudly especially when customers are ordering; they cannot even hear the cashier and vice versa. Many staff members including the manager are laughing and fooling around most of the time in their own language. Manager gives incompetent staff members multiple chances to correct their mistakes and misconduct even when it is clear they’re unable to obey company regulations and standards.

Due to being busy with opening new stores, the original store manager left, and there hasn't been a new on-site manager since. Employee training is not thorough, and many things are not taught, yet the manager expects everyone to know. When a colleague is absent, the manager doesn't care but only asks why someone didn't show up. They focus solely on revenue and not on managing the team at the branch.

Management don't have concern about their employees no chance for position advancement only work will advance but position and pay not.  If you call sick for one day they will ask a doctor's medical certificate.  They will not appreciate those who worked beyond their work specs even we use our own car to pick up items from suppliers outside the store.  Their only concern is how to "earn :not their employees well being.  

The pay is great, but the staff are always gossiping and the management is horrible. They talk about your business to everyone. Very SELECTIVE. They promote people who cannot fulfill the position. Way too much fruit flies, they even go in the cakes. People don’t always wash their hands after using the washroom then go to put their hands in cake batter.

I've been working at Uncle tetsu for 10 months and it is not a typical bakery, working there is really fun. It's a great company to work for, they are flexible with hours, reward hard workers, and people is really friendly and supportive. Working while having fun is the best part of this job.
