I have been with Unionville Home Society for more than10 years now. I have advanced to different levels  of work from being a volunteer to PSW, RPN, RN and worked directly with Senior Management Leaders. There have been ups and downs in the company in all those years but overall it is a great place to work and an excellent home for seniors to live. It is a clean and bright place. The workers really care for the residents and are helpful and supportive of each other. I learned a lot in this place and is still continuously learning on how to be a follower and a leader of a great team. At UHS, you respect the staff or your co-workers and they will respect you. If you want to be a Supervisor, Nurse Manager or leader of Nursing department, you need to learn your nursing and leadership skills and especially learn to treat others with respect. Don't act like you know everything or that you are better than others because you need each other to deliver the best care possible for the residents. Always acknowledge that everyone has an important role to play in this organization. From there you will succeed and enjoy your work because your team members and others will be glad to do their part. It is not a 100% perfect place because like everywhere else there are still a few people with issues but 99% of the  staff are dedicated, feel valued and happy in performing their job. Overall the workplace culture is great. This is a highly recommendable place to work if you are a compassionate and empathetic worker.

I have no idea bout the good reviews. I did work on that place, many staff calling sick, way to heavy the work load, management do not care about the staff as long the joy is done, no matter how its done, relying way to much in agency staff, and even agency staff do not want to come. to much computer work instead of dedicating that time to residents care, big mistake working in that place,a  big step back to my career goals. so if you are looking for a job, stay very far away from this place. trust me.

A very good nursing home which located in Markham, professional teams are providing high quality senior service, the management team is working hard to operate the whole system, I am satisfied with helping customers in the first point, I accumulate lots of experience.

good place to acquire experience in working in a long term care facility. staffs are mostly nice, helpful and team players. client and family centered care approach. well compensated when it comes to salary and many shifts to pick up.

everyday is challenging at work.i've gain lots of patience in this job.management are good and approachable.i've learned how to deal with different people especially the seniors.

I worked during my Co-op placement and I enjoyed my work. My colleagues and other team members are very supportive. 

Hardest part of job is lack of support from CEO. Total micro management as a result there is high turn over in front office.Lots of non productive meetings hard to get work done. Front line staff work hard.

Great place to start in nursing. I was hired here as a new grad, and learnt a lot about time management and mental health. For the most part all co workers were very helpful

Pleasant and lovely workplace.  Excellent management staff willing to help you and teach you the ways  everyone treats the clients & residents so kind

its hard work the staff was horrible to students but she eventually got fired lol more work on students because the staff don't like students  long dady long night working here
