UNIQUE RESTORATION

A typical day at work would start with daily inspections of machinery and overall site standards, along with several checklists to be completed in compliance of WorkSafe BC. Crew attendance and a safety meeting would follow before any production would start. During the day I would oversee the various crews performing their tasks in a safe manner with quality workmanship. Challenges would arise daily consisting of incidents, public interference, and site visits from WorkSafe BC. I learned how to deal with crew members of all skill levels and keep them motivated through easy and challenging tasks. I also learned that the massive amounts of paperwork to be completed daily were a vital part in keeping our company safe and efficient. 

The  most enjoyable part of my job was completing a site within a deadline with zero safety incidents, on budget which was harder than I had originally anticipated.

My brother got me into Unique when I was kind of down on my luck looking for work. I ended up on a jobsite with him and a few friends of mine from the neighbourhood. The foreman of the site was great to work with, and the job wasn't really that hard most of the time. Unfortunately I was transferred to another site about 2 months into it with one of my friends from the previous location. It was either the first or second day on the job that I experienced attitude from the owners nephew who happened to be the site foreman, I also witnessed racism from him towards a co-worker. I didn't approve of these things and we got into a bit of a verbal altercation. This ultimately ended with me losing the job and the company not taking any action with the nephew.

I worked for unique for 2 years a while back now. I was always in charge of a crew and worked with some great people. I also worked with some total degenerates you had to watch your stuff around... because they hire anyone theres alot of crackheads on board and they generally don't provide respirators and gloves to their workers. We used xylene on a regular and dealt with asbestos.  A terrible company.

A typical day consists of safety planning checking platforms and securing ropes or weights for the swing stages  and then begin to jack hammer the concrete and bring it to the ground , into a bim then we do it all over again to achieve the final product demolition and forming or painting balconey installations we did it all .

-You'll learn everything about the job and you get to work in all different area and get formilar with different trades.
-The people there are Great multicultural environment
-Shoveling.
-working with a group who's all about getting the work done no time wasted and the pay check.

The workplace is relaxed yet fast paced. Attention to detail is needed but the job is enjoyable and so are the coworkers. Customer service experience and ability to deal with people that are under stress due to home loss/repairs is important. 

Owner of the company was very fair and great to work for. The foreman and site managers were very good to work for. Lots of room for advancement. Lots of hours. Hard work but fantastic pay to go along with it. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a job. 

great group of guys. good pay. long hours. but they let you off early here and there. left because i wanted to go back to school

There were a lot of problems with the contractors working for the company, who had created safety hazards on the sites.
Tools and resources provided by the company were inadequate and when management was notified of problems there was no followup.

Job itself is very straight forward labor. Good compensation and expectations. Management is very professional and reasonable to understanding your needs and goals for the company! Overall really good experience with Unique.
