I highly recommend you have extremely THICK SKIN if you plan on being employed with UMH. It is so unfortunate that this Christian based Home has lost its core values. It seems not all the long ago it was a pretty fabulous place to work. That is sadly not the case to date. Many employees even after 15-25 years of service have moved on. Some don’t even make it through orientation. It is a revolving door.
Many of the hard working staff are friendly and absolutely love what they do. Most are exhausted, over worked, extremely frustrated and stressed. Your voice will NOT be heard, so do not even attempt to speak out about the MANY issues that you find troublesome. 

It shall fall upon deaf ears! 

There is ZERO morale or support from management/executive Director. 
Hear this… there is absolutely no work life/ family life balance, especially if you work FT. You are so over worked and exhausted that when you do happen to get a day off, you want to do nothing but rest. You are just a number, your hard work and dedication mean absolutely nothing to the management/executive Director who run this place. 


Staff is incredibly toxic to new staff 
Management has their favourites 
They expect you to come to work sick 
You’re simply a number to them 
Must understand everything immediately, if nothing they will bully you and intimidate you. There’s no room for error especially for bee staff. 
By far the most toxic and unprofessional environment I have ever worked at. How staff are treated is heartbreaking. Turnover rate is incredibly high. 

If long term care staff can work as a team it makes all the difference to the residents. A good manager can help bring staff together and a bad one will pit people against one another. The hardest part is trying to keep pace while also fielding resident and family requests. The most enjoyable is helping your residents have their best experience.

Great atmosphere supportive and management does all they can to keep us staffed properly and they do nice appreciative things to thank us.Good if you are a student very supportive I also did my first clinical here.Clean and family oriented.

I did not find it stressful, I just live too far.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You're average LTC day, except with awesome staff.

Very toxic place to work. No respect for workers. Mgmt looks for minor things to fire workers.  Residents and family members can be challenging to deal with. Lots of detailed work with respect to residents diets and textures. Very fast paced environment without the proper equipment to do it. Many budgetary concerns to work around..

Awful place to work. Staff is unfriendly and all agency coming from different places, management just cares about money, and many family complaints. Ministry always comes in due to complaints just check the reports 

Toxic and horrible management. Management has their favorites that are clearly toxic staff and focus on the wrong issues. They are not there for the residents they are there for money in the pockets. They do not try to help staff at all. 

Great hourly rate for those with experience. Managers understood life happens, a lot of personal support. Mostly friendly team members.

Training provided is extensive. Definitely want you to succeed, but it is tough work.

Great workplace management relationships.
Great pay. 
Very friendly and clean. 
Caring staff, would go the extra mile.
Ability to be hired within the company for a different role. Ie. Transfer to housekeeping
