It always depends what professor you are working for. Also, when permanent jobs are available, the profs will often have their own candidate hired despite of union rules. So, advancement is very difficult and almost impossible for a candidate who is under contract if he or she is not backed by a professor.

The benefits are offered only to permanent staff. The people who work under contracts are only entitled to the pension system. They can't have the rest of the benefits.

my review will be as short as possible. I would like to say that I have no regrets to coming to a small city like Chicoutimi. The city is really calm, the university is limited in resources yes but since my thesis is mostly theoretical, I don't mind the calmness.

I used to do this job during summer time, and I did love it. I was working with others people from different country.
I like this job because we meet many people from different places by satisfying their needs.
