Umi Sushi Express

Non-stop work! The most busiest restaurant in the food court at Toronto Premium Outlets. My co-workers are very kind and make me feel part of the team since I am the only Filipino working and they all pretty much speak Mandarin. The hardest part of the job is standing. It is a very tiring shift when all you do is stand to deliver the food to customers. The most enjoyable part of the job would have to be the free food and the fact that I know the customers keep coming back because the food we make is delicious.

The boss expected everyone to be a quick learner while they have 0 patient and not willing to teach. 
There are many things they expect you to do, such as making sushi roll, bento boxes, ramen, bubble tea. Also you have to do almost everything about the kitchen, for example pre cook, line cook, dishwasher, cleaning.
They require you learn it within a week.

Plus there is only 15 minutes for lunch break.
I would give a 0 star if i could.

Was only working there for 1 day for orientation and was promised to be hire with more shifts.. instead I waiting for almost week before I contacted the manager and was told I was let go because there were "not enough shifts available" they didn't even notify me or paid me for that one day that I worked. If you are looking to work here.. you are better finding someplace else. Worst experience ever... 

Umi Sushi Express is a fun place for a part-time worker, everyone

working like a team sometimes it is more like a big family.

Basically, doing opening everyday, dealing with cash, the most

important thing is take caring all the customer. Trying to meet all

their needs and wants, and provide a great customer services as we

can.

In general, the work atmosphere is cozy, enjoyable, and run by decent owner. But be ready for unexpected time cuts and neglect from the owner if you disagree with one of the two most eager co-workers at the workplace. A

Umi Sushi Express is a very friendly place to work in with very nice members. It is owned buy two very nice friends. Umi Sushi Express is at a food court so it gets fairly busy around lunch time, but everyone there work together and as team. Umi Sushi Express always say "Team Work Make Dream Work".

1. A typical day at work
   -The typical day at work to me was the boxing day. There were a lot of customers, but there's only me working in the kitchen.  however, I still can handle it.

Manager owned two restaurant locations in the mall, was barely present during shifts, there was no other manager on duty during shifts. Manager would fail to answer cellphone in case of emergencies most of the time

Fast paced fast food environment, the manager is very hard to communicate with, vegetables like cucumbers and tangerines sit out all day and taste very bad.

I'm working two or three days a week. I've learned some skills to have a communication with customers, how to make sushi and how to help with each other during workplace.
