Under the Sun Groweries

The farmhand positions at Under the Sun are enjoyable-hardworking jobs. Supervisors trust in us to get our jobs done. They have good leadership skills and none of the supervisors are afraid to get physically involved with every task at hand. Workers are given clear daily plans and goals, but also given our own freedom to carry out our day without someone always watching over our shoulders. There is limitless opportunities to move up, from operating the larger equipement to leadership roles to positions available at the indoor facility once the farm season ends. I continue to learn more about agriculture and sustainability, all while getting a great physical workout. There really never is a dule moment, so the hours of each shift pass swiftly. Breaks are taken at different times based on how are tasks are unfolding. I just keep my water bottle close at all times and micro breaks are encouraged to keep hydrated. I plan to return season after season to work at this farm. 


I found it extremely hard to build relationships here. The work environment is loud and fast paced. They "lost" my new hire paperwork and it took them over a month to pay me and I had to stop going because I couldn't trust to be paid. A typical day was start at 7 am clean equipment (that should've been cleaned daily but obviously was not). once trimming started it was incredibly difficult to have a conversation as the machines were very loud. You get a 30 minute break for lunch and one other 15 minute break. Didn't learn anything while there and had no opportunities to.

Company has a good understanding of the importance of open group meetings and discussions to better understand each persons work load creating a positive reinforced work environment. Fast work pace, positive welcoming co-workers/staff. Owner is flexible and understanding that life does happen. Commute to work is short- similar to driving to opposite side of Saskatoon. Tons of room for growth within the company- would recommend working here to a friend in the future

-no one around to tell you what to do 
-start time is 7 but the boss shows up for 7:30 
-scolded for not working every weekend 
-boss has unrealistic goals and standards 
- no tools for the jobs to be done 
-expected to walk in the blistering heat all day , and scolded for taking breaks 
- zero sense of direction 
- expected to drive your vehicle in the MIDDLE OF A FIELD 
- no compensation for gas when using your vehicle for work
- constantly waiting on materials , and fuel.

I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone that likes to keep busy. Working at the indoor facility is a faced paced and there is amazing learning opportunities in every department. All the staff is very easy to get along with and very welcoming. If you are interested in cannabis this is the job for you! The outdoor facility is also a great learning experience, you get a little dirty but for all the right reasons. 

Work days were very long, expected to work in plus 40 weather without water breaks, equipment didn't work properly, not a lot of direction, unprofessional managers, took over a month to get last paycheck and have been unable to reach anyone to get T4 statement. I do not recommend.

It’s a very easy job, where you do important work. It’s very cool to see the process of creating a product. It’s a fun and relaxed environment. It’s easy to work and enjoy yourself at the same time when you work at Under The Sun. 

Poor Job description
-Never compensate for gas used for their business
-Lots of gossip
-expecting to do fast data entry from new hire with undefined manufacturing process
-Unrealistic expectation and goals

I love this job I get to be around awesome people no stress at all and you get to be outside in the summer months no task here is ever to hard alot of team work based work. If your looking for a chill job this one's for you
