Union Burger

I have worked for  Union burger for a long time  and always wanted  the fun filled environment that most jobs have and was promised by the manager. It's a nightmare!!! The staff are like zombies from working their butts off. Management  has a poor way of interacting with their staff and they feel the need to slander you in their own language. Don't even bother to try and call in if you're sick, that will be used against you later .They're very greedy when it comes to food costs also. Always cutting down on the portions of bacon or caramelized onions to the point where every order has a complaint from the guest that they are very unpleased with their order, well that order that the customer is unpleased with cmes back the the staff when it was the managers who were making it. I love the staff i worked with but we all share the same issues and concerns. There's no benefits and it almost impossible to get ahold of Obsidian. I learned that with working at Union Burger no matter how hard you work or slave yourself for long hours most of the time that will not even be appreciated.

It's a less than stellar minimum wage job with really great people.  It can be stressful at times being right by Square One Shopping Centre it can get busy and the crowds can be overwhelming but the team working there at the moment are really great people.  The management, however, is the shortcoming of this company recently under new management the new manager shows obvious favoritism towards some staff and can be quite lazy and disorganized at times. Her husband spends a lot of his time watching over you on the cameras from his house and will call the store to complain whenever he feels like it.  The best part of the job hands down however can also be the worst part of the job. customers in who come to the store a lot of the time are really friendly, pleasant and good conversationalists,  however with any service industry people can be really unpleasant when they want to be and that's just something you have to deal with working here.

My position at Union Burger was quite a relief. I was assistant manager so my job duties included calculating all debit and credit sales, counting tills at the end of the day, filling in for the manager when he was unavailable, helping staff in kitchen and front when short staffed, taking complaints from customers and issuing checks to employees come payday. For the most part my job was relaxed and easy going, but I had a lot of responsibility. If a customer was unhappy with the food and just completely freaking out about it throwing things and swearing and screaming I was the guy to step in and deem if it was police worthy.

This place was destined to fail the moment it was built in st. Thomas. The owners had just built it to sell, and were incredibly rude. The amount of work was insane for minimum wage, and the working area was much too small. Menu was confusing to customers, and the employees were very unenthusiastic and over worked. Youd either get a 6 day work week, or youd get 1 three hour shift. Split shifts were the worst part of the job.

Union Burger is a great place to work because you get to have fun while interacting with your customers. You get to make sure that their food is what they ordered and see them enjoying it. It is also a very fun place to work because we are all like a family.

It was a lot of fun, working on union burger but sometimes for me as students hours were bit odd and I learned a lot of new things like managing etc. The hardest part of my job was getting the stock from the back. The most enjoyable part was making the fries and burgers

The communication between employees and employer was terrible as well, in my personal opinion they played favoritism heavily. There was also heavy pressure on employees on various tasks that we had not been trained adequately for yet.

The owners are some of the nicer employers i have worked for. That being said it can get stressful when its just yourself and one other worker one in front and one in back and you get 10+ people in line.

Food, staff and management is good. Friendly staff and flexible hours as they are not open late on weekdays and weekends.
Enjoyed working here as it was close to home and allowed me to keep my 2nd job.

The work while important was fairly simple but fun, Giving even the least experienced of employees the chance to learn and advance in training. 
Ample opportunity for Differentiation.
