Pros

	1.	Provided Resources: At Uniprix, I had access to useful resources like personal notes and the lottery machine. I made the most of these tools to stay prepared and sharpen my skills.
	2.	Initial Support: The support during my first two weeks was solid. I got clear guidance and felt like I was settling in well. However, after that period, I was largely on my own(as explained in the cons, below).
	3.	Structured Training System: The computerized training system for the lottery machine was extensive, with various learning modules and detailed documentation. The challenge was that this system was only available *on-site*, and with the fast-paced environment, I barely had time to dive into these resources or get hands-on practice with the machine.

Cons

	1.	Work Environment: Even with my previous experience, the work environment was tough. My coworkers were often too stressed to provide consistent support. While they said I could ask for help, they weren’t available when I needed assistance with situations that were *beyond the norm*. This lack of reliable support made it difficult to work as part of a cohesive team.
	2.	Lack of Supervision and Feedback: I always tried to solve problems independently before reaching out. Despite my efforts to handle things on my own, the absence of regular feedback and supervision left me uncertain about my performance and how to improve.  There was a lack of accountability for what we put out there to our customers. It made it harder for all us employees of this Uniprix location to stay aligned with our goal of delivering excellent customer service.
	3.	Hiring Process Concerns: The hiring process was fairly straightforward, but it didn’t include much personal assessment and seemed rushed. I was mainly informed about the job’s duties without much deeper discussion about my background. This meant there wasn’t a real opportunity to ensure a good fit between my skills and the role’s unique demands. I was swiftly replaced without warning, which seemed all too convenient since I didn’t really get any feedback on my performance. From what I gathered on my own , it was clear that they found somebody that suited the store’s needs better.

To improve the work environment at Uniprix, consider a few key changes. Start by creating a more structured training program with dedicated practice time so employees can fully use available resources. Encourage a culture where asking questions is welcomed and seen as part of teamwork, and provide regular feedback during shifts to help employees stay on track and grow.

Next, address any stress or hostility among staff to build a more supportive and collaborative atmosphere. Recognize employees’ efforts to boost morale and foster a sense of belonging. Promote teamwork.

For better feedback and supervision, establish regular check-ins between supervisors and employees to discuss performance and areas for improvement. Consider adding a mentorship or buddy system to help new hires settle in, and ensure supervisors are actively involved, especially with newcomers.

Lastly, review the hiring process to ensure it accurately assesses candidates’ qualifications and fit. Train hiring managers to conduct more detailed and objective interviews. These changes can help create a more supportive, collaborative, and motivating work environment.

A typical day at work as a former Cosmetician/cashier would consist of me doing: gift wrapping, replenishing, greeting, assisting clients in locating and choosing products, cleaning, making recommendations on certain beauty products, pricing cosmetic products and perfumes.

My last job was an excellent learning opportunity and I developed my skills and experience in numerous different ways. While I already had a strong passion for makeup, I didn’t have any previous experience with working in cosmetics. 

When my employer offered me a job as a Beauty Consultant, it gave me the opportunity to undertake additional training so as to be able to work in the cosmetic industry.

I was then able to put this training into practice on a day-to-day basis and I am now extremely adept at being a Beauty Advisor and a Cashier. I also learned a great deal about handling customers.

I think in general a good manager gives clear directions and actually stays pretty hands-off, but is ready and available to jump in to offer guidance, expertise, and help when needed. 

My co-workers were very patient, helpful and understanding. It was a pleasure to work with them as a team, because they were all friendly and hard-working individuals. 

Colleagues who worked close to me can tell that I am friendly, loyal to friends, cooperating, listener, respectful, honest, empathetic, caring and ready to help and always go the extra mile to help out.

The hardest part of my job was not getting a lot of cliental as I would like to have had. I am very passionate about my job and I enjoy working in a busy atmosphere to put my working skills to the test. 

The most enjoyable part of my job is the long flexible hours that were offered to me. I also enjoyed interacting with customers and gaining professional experience.

For the most part, I really dislike my job. The only thing I enjoy is changing things around and organizing because the store is a disaster. 
When I first got hired, I had left a new job I just started because Uniprix was offering more hours, and the manager had promised me a dollar raise after a month. After two weeks of working there, the manager quit. Therefor, the bosses never gave me a raise which I found very unfair considering I left a job where I was making at least two dollars more than I am now. Also, everyone has told me that you basically never get a raise, people have worked there for over a year and still make minimum wage. 
They are very selfish, no fifteen minute breaks. If you work a nine hour or eight hour shift, you just get one hour break. I know fifteen minute breaks are optional and is the owner's choice of whether he wants to offer it or not, but I have never worked anywhere that doesn't offer fifteen minute breaks, so hours can be long and tedious. 
They just hired a new manager, and she has no clue what she is doing. She was a receiver at another Uniprix and just got hired as manager so I don't really understand. 
The co-workers are kind for the most part, I always get along with everyone.

This is not a place I would recommend anyone to work at, unless you're retired and just want a job to get out of the house. 

Working at Uniprix allowed me to strongly develop my analytical skills as well as interpersonal relations.
Starting from a cashier position while attending University, and then advancing to the head of the post-office, part-time lab tech., assistant manager and finally manager, the environment allowed me to diversify and grow while maintaing a sense of loyalty.
I developed my analytical and strategic skills by attending the annual buying show as well being responsible for weekly circular and daily purchases. i was also responsible for inventory management and merchandising.
Starting as a team member and then developing into a team leader allowed me to develop and utilize my interpersonal skills. The foundation of Uniprix's employee relations was strongly based on mutual respect and growth which I found to be one of the reasons I enjoyed working there and why my loyalty to the company as well as my boss was quite strong.

Working at Uniprix Stadium is a great experience for any tennis fan. The co-workers are very nice and understanding. The same can be said about management. It's always great to see familiar faces around. It's like one big family working together. 

A typical work day as a receptionist can get boring at times, or it can be very loaded. Typical tasks are answering phone calls, arranging appointments, selling Rogers Cup tickets, receiving parcels, cashiering and providing customer service. Sometimes, there are no phone calls and no one at the reception so it can get boring. 

If you're a tennis fan or play tennis, there are some advantages. The cost of a tennis court rental is at a much reduced price or free at times. During Rogers Cup, you get some free tennis apparel which is nice.

I started as a student when I was doing my stage at the pharmacy. I would’ve to do stage once a week from school it was part of the course. I would’ve to find my own pharmacy and start my stage. In the beginning I wasn’t good because I didn’t have the proper technic and training from school. I would’ve to learn my own way. School would provide to teach such as math, meds, and the software that’s used in the system when to enter in the prescription. But gradually with time I improved and the owner offered me a job. I took this opportunity so that it would be very good for me to start off somewhere and learn a lot.

The job was really interesting. I was able to learn a lot about medications and what thy are used for. Anytime I would get curious about a certain medication, I would ask my boss (pharmacist) and he would immediately answer me. The only thing that I did not like was that the training was "learn as you go" therefore, if you wanted to learn more about entering prescriptions in the system you had to ask the other technicians but most of the time, it was too busy and I never got the opportunity to learn that aspect fully. I was stuck at the cash most of the times as well as counting prescriptions/calling people to let them know their prescriptions were ready.

Salary was quite good but if I would had to ask myself, Was it worth it I would say no. Why ? Because this workplace was toxic ... to say the least. Older emploies (and higher-up staff (even the owner!)) were allowed to bully new staff members. It was common to talk in the back of new emploies but it was accepted, even for small mistakes. Also no one was willing to help you learn your job, they were even using that to bully you more as you were prone to make errors when you didn't know much about the work itself. So if you apply there ... be ready.

I worked from 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Received all shipments at the réception for merchandise and outgoing returns. Teamwork was important in this function since the merchandise had to be delivered to appropriate areas in the store or labortory pharmacy.  Managed my own time to reflex the daily deliveries.
Not to many hardships, otherthan bad weather exposure when receiving the deliveries.  Most enjoyable part was meeting all the different drivers or saleswomen/men of their respective companies.

People are nice and kind good working experience and the pharmacist are great people. Prescription should be sent to new generations IT systems electronically would be great so less paperwork and better for environment as well. Overall, it was great experience to work with them.
