Worked in a public sector division in a CA satellite office. For much of the time, the office wasn't within the firewall (and thumbscrews) of the MN corporate office. Local senior management was incompetent and replacements were always brought in from another UHG outpost instead of promoting from within.

Some business units had astronomical voluntary turnover rates. There were a couple of manager desks where every project died.

When I realized that there was no real career path for professional project managers, I got out.

During the course of my employment there, both corporate culture and employee benefits took a turn for the worse.

Autonomous working with very high responsibilty

A day offshore is always exciting and challenging.  Work is not only dealing with illness and injury but involves being part of a team offering health and safety training as well as lifestyle improvement training.  It is a great atmosphere to work within and you certainly feel appreciated by the management staff at UHG.  In some organizations you are nothing more than a person in a seat, where at UHG I felt like I was wanted, and needed. They provided me with the tools I needed, checked in on me concerned about me as a person and as a professional.  Thoroughly enjoyed my time working for UHG.

Things changed after awhile and the Mars. that followed didn't distribute leads yo the ICA agents. Basically you are on your own. My feeling is that they give the good leads go in house agents. They have good tools and resources for agents and a very hood agent help desk. Pay is always on time . All in all if you have hood sources for clients a good place  go be a field agent don't know about being in house. A strong solid company if you want to build a career if uou have the corporate mindset

Optum technology is the IT arm for the largest Healthcare business in USA. The IT landscape is quite diverse and the workforce is global. With that sense, its a really big organization to work with.
I would rate it to be the best organization to work with as long as you are in the right group and at the right time.
There are many new initiatives and there is a constant push for innovation.
Overall its a wonderful place to be.

Very learning oriented, and utilizes a great deal of modern technology and current adaptive technologies to get things done.  A good experience in a corporate healthcare environment utilizing the processes necessary for today's healthcare economy !

People are nice friendly very helpful. Typical day at work every one speak when they come to work. Doing special occassion we decorant  our cubicle.We work as team helping each other not only reflect the people around us, but our supervisor and manager as well.We work on project an meeting our goal on certain time line an we get  it done.

Enjoyed my temporary experience working for this organization.. Learned much about the healthcare plans at that time, HMO versus PPO.  Liked assisting members, by providing and explaining their healthcare options available to them under the plan options.  Able to follow-up on member concerns, regarding their health membership coverage information and so forth;

The company is a well sustainable and service excellent in providing benefits to the clients. However, in our department, salary is an issue and other benefits like quarterly incentives are not really satisfying employees because it is somewhat inappropriate not to give the entitlement of such bonus.
