I had a great experience at the University of Windsor. The campus is welcoming and diverse, making it easy to feel included as a student. The professors are knowledgeable and genuinely care about helping students succeed, both academically and professionally. Many of them are approachable and willing to provide extra support outside of class.

The university offers a wide range of programs, and the courses are designed to be practical and relevant to real-world careers. I especially appreciated the opportunities for hands-on learning, such as co-op programs and research projects, which helped me build valuable skills.

The campus facilities are well-maintained, including the library, study spaces, and recreational centers. There are also many student clubs and organizations, making it easy to get involved, meet new people, and build connections.

Another great aspect is the location. Windsor is a friendly and affordable city, and being close to the U.S. border adds extra opportunities for travel and cultural experiences.

Overall, the University of Windsor provides a supportive learning environment with strong academic programs and a vibrant student community. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quality education in a welcoming atmosphere.


I am sharing my own experience as a "post-graduate" research assistant, not as a student.

As an RA, your workload and salary depend only on your supervisor, not the University. You may need to be available 24/7 working in a very stressful working environment with no chance to grow (and still get paid the minimum wage of 15$/hr for 30 hr/week). It is also possible that you work in a research group with less pressure and more fun with a more reasonable pay rate (generally, not more than 50k $ annually).
So, your career as an RA completely depends on your supervisor.
The problem with the University is that there is no reasonable minimum pay for the RA positions. As RA is considered a professional occupation (NOC A), the rate of 15$/hr is not fair. Also, there is nothing in the contracts about overtime pay since you may need to work up to 50 hours/week near deadlines.
Also, I think there should be some strict rules and regulations to stop supervisors from exploiting RAs.
In general, I do recommend you choose your supervisor wisely. If anything happens, nobody has your back here.

Typical days are generally scheduled around that 8am-5pm time range, and depending on the position those hours could be filled quite tightly with tasks, or things could be slow. This all depends on the job that you possess as well as the motivation you (as the employee) have to find things to fill time as well. 

I learned a lot about university protocols, procedures. and basic administrative skills.

Management can be something that also differs depending on your job title and department. I have had some bosses that are very involved in their employees steps every part of the way and then I have had other bosses that are more delegation based. 

The workplace culture within the university is very good. Many of the people I worked with were really great people; generally quite a positive place to work. 

The most challenging part of the work would have been the duration of contracts.

The most enjoyable part of the job is typically when you feel accomplished, valued, and satisfied with your work. It might be achieving a goal, collaborating with great colleagues, or simply enjoying the tasks you perform.

I will receive two to three footage of University ball players a week with the expectations of compiling 1 to 2 mins of video highlight for each footage. 
I learned immensely about time management and staying on top of my work at a timely matter. I was also expected to be responsible with having footage returned on time, despite if i ran into technical issues, I learned to resolve my problems without effecting my work requirements. 
Working with my boss, he gave me much room to be creative with my work and also add inputs on creative aspects that can help assist the image of the University Basketball team
The hardest part of the job was staying on top of the video footage given to me weekly. 
The most enjoyable part of my job was the challenge of completing each video, the liberty of using my creative knowledge and the enjoyment of doing something I love.

My time at the University of Windsor has provided an extensive management experience and training, where I was responsible for scheduling staff, detailed custom ordering for large events, overseeing the successful completion of set up and food service for events. I would regularly fill in for the Catering Manager and feel that this skill-set would ensure and smooth transition into the position you offer.
My co-workers and I have a good working relationship, our communication helps provide customer service that we are known for.
Working in a Union Environment for over 15 years, you have on going challenges on a daily basis, which I would resolves with little issues.
The most rewarding part of my job at the University of Windsor, is when working an event and the host is happy, guests are fed, and we have exceeded company standards

The employer worked well with staff to help accommodate people and their lives. ie: shift replacements and requests for time off were often accommodated when given enough notice.
The wage was decent for the local economy. Part-timers had an optional premium to pay for benefits. benefits should have been compulsory for better rates.
The job security was good, but little room for advance. As a part-timer I had to find loopholes to get full time hours without full-time benefits.
Management was good, sometimes a little forgetful and anxious or high strung for certain events, but we always managed to pull it together to get things done.
Employees act entitled and like the employer owes them something. I see a divide between the full-timers and part-timers. I don't view the job security to stay as strong in the coming decade or so.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I was part of a transportation team and that team was amazing and professors were so helpful and knowledgeable.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The University policies were not supportive at all for students and unfortunately I had this feeling that this university is sometimes in some parts is more into money collecting. However transportation team was so supportive but generally the university policies were sometime so unsupportive.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great work environment and nice people to deal with.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Going to offices located at university and have your own space, although those areas were sometimes so busy but it was good experience. This is common in a shared areas somehow.

A typical day at work begins with the excitement of discovering something new and exciting. In the beginning of the lab, all the workers set up a meeting and plan how to run the lab  three hours period. The lab equipment are put in  placed right before the beginning of the lab. During the lab, all the coworkers are assigned their duties in the lab such as researching, analyzing and recording the results in the designated charts. Each team member has an important role to finish the lab and they all work in harmony to finish results in time. Recording data is a very tedious job and sometimes it becomes hard to keep track of the lab results during analysis. Even though there are a lot of things to perform in a research lab under pressure makes all the workers self starter, time efficient and eager to learn something new everyday.

At the University of Windsor I had the opportunity to work with many wonderful professors and students who helped create a fun and productive work environment.  Throughout my career opportunities I was able to immerse myself into many fields on campus and learn various skills.  I was able to work as a teaching assistant in the psychology department, partake in research opportunities that promote wellness and cancer patient quality and work as a President for a student-led tutoring organization.  The most enjoyable part of my job was being able to meet new people and develop creative ideas to innovate the fields.  I am grateful for being able to work alongside professors in order to better my abilities and increase my opportunities for the workforce.
