A typical day at work is you have to be fully prepared and to know the subject and the topic to treat for the day very well, by constant reading, studying and searching for updated information before presenting it to students.

I have learned how to present a seminar  through  power point presentation, how to communicate to students by so doing I am improving my communication skills.

The management are so friendly ready to answer any questions and provide relevant assistance, I may require.

We work as a team, collaborators and learn from each other.

The hardest part of the job is every day you have to research and update your information to students, do a lot of demonstrations in a simple term for students to understand you better.

The most enjoyable part of the job, it makes you always committed to your job, gathering new information, learning more skills, socializing with different personality and more productive.

This job taught me how to operate in a lab efficiently as well as communicate with other members to satisfy the demands of that day. The over-night shifts capturing bats was hard to get used to but ultimately taught me how to properly fill out data/process bats under non-ideal conditions such as working outside. The work environment was great - all the members were easy to get along with and shared the same mentality about how important our role is in the preservation of bats in Canada. A typical day included filling vials of ethanol or RNALater, fixing equipment, checking all PIT tag systems were functional, set up traps to catch bats and process them, and perform rigorous decontamination of equipment at the end of the night.

The University of Winnipeg doesn't have a lot to offer and it feels like some staff members are stuck in their ways and not so keen on trying new things. Working with folks who aren't open to change can be tough—it's like they're not really into what they're doing.

And you know, it seems like these days, many schools are more about making money than really caring about how well they serve their students. Once they've got the cash, it's like they're not as bothered about making things better for the students.

Overall,  there's a lot of room for improvement in getting staff to be more flexible and making sure the focus stays on giving students a top-notch education.

The workplace of the University is amazing. As I go there 2days a week it always feel me with so much new information and great knowledge. 
But the hardest part of the work is that I always have to come up with new ideas based on others works and get good results on that to accomplished a good paper.
However, It's not an official job but I have to always be updated and full of new ideas. Since being a Research assistant is part of being a good student and I always been the best student in my whole education background its an important task for me.

Lots of down time, coupled with vacancy management style. Often split between tasks at a moments notice. Reported to multiple bosses throughout a typical day. Learned a great deal about government funded organizational culture. Gained years of experience in maintaining and managing public access/private access building. Interdepartmental communication was poor. Experienced frustrations because of miss direction. The challenges where many. The most valuable experiences where maintaining 100,000 plus sq. ft. buildings.

Working in a dynamic and fast paced office has been great over the past four years.  There are so many different aspects to this job and I have really grown and learned a lot.  Advising students on prospective programs has been really gratifying on a personal and professional level.
This position has offered me the opportunity to travel around the world and take on more responsibilities within the team.  I really enjoy working with different people and creating new relationships, this position has really allowed me to do that on a domestic and international level.

The three hours lab teaching start with stress, you never know how your students are and how much they will connect with you until you walk between them and get to know their each personality and their way to learn or to be able to open their ears and communication channels. but after half an hour or one hour the work is rewarded when at list 70% of the students understand the mechanisms of science. Then the environment is relaxed , we are connected.

Worked here for a bit as a Recruitment Officer. The team was awesome. They were friendly, collaborative, and always up for a laugh, even during the busy season. The work itself is a mix of travel, presentations, and chatting with prospective students. Some days flew by, others dragged. Typical admin stuff in between.

There’s a fair amount of autonomy, which I liked, but the structure can feel a bit loose depending on who’s managing. If you're into education and don’t mind the occasional chaotic schedule, it’s a solid gig. Not life-changing, but not bad either.

A fairly hierarchical organization, but one that values education and advancement opportunities for faculty and staff. 
A typical day is dependent on the needs of the department. The hardest part of the job is that because it's so hierarchical, lower positions aren't given the same respect as higher positions, regardless of how much they contribute. The most enjoyable part of the job is access to a variety of different people.

I was offered the job due to my ability to interact and form connections with my classmates, as well as my passion for the course. In preparation for the job, I made sure that I was more than prepared for any occasion/obstacle that might appear. Most of my training was a quick run-through on what to expect so, but not much in the field. I, however, am a very quick learner and took to the job quickly.
