What is the best part of working at the company?
Friendly and supporting supervisors and co-workers from my department as well as other departments. Wonderful students as well.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Sometimes I cannot deliver what the students want , for examples, cannot find them a seat because the course is full.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is friendly and warm. People and most students are supportive, We even have a therapy dog to help students and staff de-stress.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I start out with review of appointments, prepare for the appointments and help students during the appointment. Then I have to write up the reports.
When time permits, I will research about materials relevant to my advising job and information that may help my students.

A lot of micromanagement and hypocrisy by team lead and manager. The team has its own rules different than the university. Team is approved for remote by the university but you won’t get to work remotely at all, they make a great deal about it. 

So much unclarity on policies and managers not responding to requests on time. On face HR is with you but they will not help you as they’re constrained by the policies that seem to be set in 1900s. 

The job is not challenging, minimal or very slow growth, you’ll be wasting time  here that you can spend at another organization that values your input. They won’t focus on the 8 things you’re doing great or appreciate you at all, but micromanage and give you a lot of pain on things that have little to no significance in post covid world. 

New jobs are posted every couple weeks but you won’t be chosen due to office and management politics. 

During my time at the University of the Fraser Valley, I had the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds and people from all over the world. It was my duty to make sure that they settled into campus life as comfortable as possible and encouraged them to participate in different events and programs as much as possible. While engaging with those from different backgrounds of culture I was able to emotionally support those dealing with culture shock and directed them to different resources such as the counselors provided by the University. I also had the opportunity to facilitate different programs and events aimed towards the promotion of diversity in the university realm. This allowed me to connect and learn different cultures and people and was a beautiful experience.

Great learning and working environment  This is a committed volunteer position per semester. It is a constantly evolving environment with interaction with many different students in one day.  The hardest part of the job is understanding the lesson plan and being prepared to teach it with 24 hours notice.  The most enjoyable parts of the job is seeing the sparkle in a child's eye when they realize they can do something new.  This opportunity provides a great work experience for anyone looking to go into teaching or working with children!

Nice job to work while doing courses. People are wonderful and it’s nice to be able to contribute to the department.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nothing particularly stressful.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Nice and chill, you get to work alongside the studio technicians and they’re really wonderful.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Get in, do whatever tasks are assigned, and extra time beyond that is used for related projects!

Typically we collected water and weather data at different sites in Fort Langley and Abbotsford, using various equipment. I enjoyed working as a research assistant collecting water samples from the Fraser River and tributaries, as water management and coastal systems are my passion. The data we collected was sent to Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in furtherance of the Global Rivers Observatory Project.

This was a 3 month practicum; where I was tasked with blog creation and management, updating web pages, and maintaining a social media presence. The management gave structured and yet very flexible outlines of what was expected. The hardest part of the job was learning all the new software I was using; however, this was also the most enjoyable part of my time spend at UFV international.

Nothing stressful working with UFV

Very open and huge on equity, diversity, inclusion and culture

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Easy going and very helpful colleagues

A typical work day consist of:
Primary responsibility is troubleshooting computer problems.
Explain student about various PC components and disassembling them.
Assist students who require extra guidance & Perform various computer lab sessions.
The best part of working in University is the happy work environment .

It is a productive and fun workplace and I was able to learn a lot of new and valuable work skills.Ensured computers and printer were working properly, ensured that computer lab was kept neat, answered students' questions about computers, resolved minor problems and reported major problems to Information Technology personnel, recorded the number of computer lab users
