Upper Canada Forest Products

As a warehouse worker, I suppose I would fall into the category of unskilled labour. As such, I would rate my experience with Upper Canada as fair. It was a good place to start, for someone with limited warehouse experience outside of retail. The people were good to work with, excellent work culture. The job itself was easy to perform and learn. A team environment, where nobody was ever left alone. The downside I think was a lack of growth or advancement potential. I suspect this to be more of a Canada wide problem more than a company specific issue. I got layed off after 5 years. 2023 was a bad year for forest fires in B.C., maybe this has a negative effect on the business. An area for improvement would be trying to figure out how to keep people employed for a period of longer than 5 years. 
But than again, this is Liberal Canada. A very dysfunctional country.

Work starts at 7 am Ends 3:30 which was nice getting off with a lots of day still left. Working in Warehouse was OK but was very disappointing to work with a lazy co-worker who would rather sit and stare at a computer Work day could become hectic at times. The nicest part of the day was at the end of the day. Company likes to call employees "family" but unless you are a supervisor or regional manager you are just a kid not an adult. Warehouse work is easily achieved each day without having our hands held but manager is big on micromanagement and needs to be involved at each step. No trust in employees. Work is steady but there are slow times with nothing to do .The best part is meeting customers who are all great. Left for a better job. Was here almost 1 year. There is a big Ivory tower in the Office.

The workplace can be a semi fun experience,  but that's simply due to the staff that work there. When it comes to the management,  the company simply bites off far more than they can chew.  95% of staff are extremely overworked and they constantly ask way more of the workers than they should be required to provide.  They are unable to hold onto staff that work there, and in the last month have lost 3 senior staff due to a new inventory system that is designed for a warehouse much bigger than the one they currently have. All In all it's not a terrible place to work, it just needs new management. 

Went in for the interview and everything was great, so great that they cancelled their other interviews and offered me the position that day. 2 days after accepting and signing contracts they rescinded the offer "due to business needs and priorities changing," and offered no other explanation. I turned down two other jobs for this position and they dropped me before I could even work one day, for no apparent reason. Save yourself the hassle and don't bother applying, there's an overbearing corporate atmosphere here that clearly puts the dollar before their employees. 

The work environment is a fast paced work environment but work itself is relaxing and not very physically demanding. As some who switched from a food warehouse job due do physical strain, this job is better in all aspects. Overtime opportunities are also good as I am currently working in 11 hour shifts.  The manager is also good.  The only issues I had is that the company warehouse is too strict in housekeeping and they lack some tools which can boost productivity.

Not an easy place to work at if you want to be left to do your job. Micromanagement is alive and well here. Poor communication. Dead end job. had to way above local management to get trucks repaired. Coworkers are the only reason to look forward to going in each morning

Pros - 
By Toronto-wood distribution standards, the compensation is better than average.
Very good company at team building events.

Cons -
Not very ethnically inclusive when one looks at their outside sales reps. They hire them often straight out of school and pic a very specific model, as it were.
Too management heavy and title focused, as well.

Well let's just say management needs to go back to management school.
People will come and people will go very quicky quicky. Why should that happen if this organization is so great. If you think you are great, walk the talk big boy. Throw some money at it. :)

This company is growing and expanding. I have seen numerous talented people being promoted and given opportunities to try new roles and expand their responsibilities.
Management is very supportive and there is a culture of professionalism, integrity, collaboration, and teamwork.

Young, fast-paced company. Continuously looking for growth. Consistently changing roles and business. Very busy and expectations for hours stretch outside of typical business hours. Good company culture.
