A typical day at work involved teaching three classes (9-10:30, 10:45-12:15, and 1:00-2:30). The administration will also set up mandatory and unpaid meetings during break/lunch times on the same-day through email or by word-of-mouth. I've learned that "full-time hours" at UMC means 5 and half hours a day and that it is very difficult to gain extra hours. They do not, as they say, give extra hours to teachers in order of seniority. Plus, the extra hours are pretty much one hour a week for a club.
The management is very rude and extremely condescending to the staff. Speaking your voice to the management about their policies or procedures, by which I mean even asking questions about these topics, results in them forcefully and condescendingly retorting because they seem to perceive it as questioning their positions. The rest of the administration also seems quite disorganized, as un-paid meetings are organized on the day-of, mandatory fieldtrips are mandated the day before, school events are advertised ad-hoc, and rules and procedures are constantly changing. 
The other teachers are incredibly supportive of each other, but it's hard to feel comfortable in the staff room as the management is in the same room working. 
The hardest part of the job is all the lesson planning and grading that teachers are expected to do without being paid. It is very demotivational to spend time creating original and exciting lessons when it is not being paid for.
The most enjoyable part of the job is the classroom time where it is just the teachers and students, as you are the one determining how lessons should run and can most directly help your students.

I had really good time and memories with UMC. Just the thing was that I realized my ultimate career goal was not to remain as a ESL teacher and the hours I had was not enough to cover my living expenses. However, if you are looking for something that is part-time level, shorter hours than other 9-5 office jobs, but with distinctive pay and respect; and if you have good social, organizational, and teaching skills with Native-level English language ability, I would definitely recommend this job. The circle of staffs in any level or team respect one another and they were really good people. The facility is not big or fancy, so keep in mind that you would experience a bit of packed class at some point (the class room size varies depending on the students enrolled for each class and period, and what level you'll be teaching may also change every two months.) and the benefit itself would be accommodated at a part-time level compared to other full-time job standards, although you would be hired and recognized as a 'full-timer' within the institution. The students are mostly young adults and they will also inspire you for young and fun spirit! 

This is a fast-paced and stressful place in which to work. Low pay and benefits are the norm here despite the high expectations to perform a variety of tasks. New teachers are paid hourly, which means that much of the teacher's work (preparing lesson plans, developing/modifying resources, taking attendance, using various grading platforms) must happen on the teacher's own time. Needless to say, the turnover rate at this school is high. If you are a new teacher, you will learn much about the teaching profession, but a job in this school might burn you out and squash your dream of staying in education. The wage is so low that it is not a professional's salary; before taking this job, I could not have imagined that teachers could be so poorly compensated, especially in such an expensive city. Accepting a job offer from this school was a mistake. I am happy to no longer be there.

UMC underpays, overworks and underappreciates its employees. They will force you to do over 20 hours of unpaid work per week during exam and report card time, as well as about 10 hours of unpaid work per week on a regular basis. They are constantly changing rules and teaching methods and you have to coordinate your lessons with 2 other teachers, making it very difficult to teach what the students need. The admin only supports the "clients" (students are seen as cash cows, so the school does not do what is best for them, only what is most financially beneficial to the school) they never support their own teachers. Worst school I have ever worked at, stay away if you value your sanity!

A typical day at work was mediocre at best. It is hard to enjoy your job when it offers you nothing. Not even a livable wage! I learned that no matter how great your students are, a horrible boss will ruin everything for you. Do not work here. The manager is a nightmare. Hardest part of the job was constant beratement for not know the procedures, when I was never taught them in the first place. The most enjoyable part was QUITTING!  

The staff and the working atmosphere are friendly and nice. But UMC pays you low, very low. The management asks you to do a lot of things; but they do not give you any motivation or compensation for your hard work.I worked there for around 2 months on contract basis. They told me to give me a permanent job. But luckily they didn't offer me it after my first two months which I think is good for me.

The school has a friendly and relaxed environment. The school's philosophy is grounded in trust, so you can run your classes the way you want as long as you commit to your weekly lesson plans and the syllabus. You will receive support from the management if your students complain about you as long as it isn't repeated many times.

I studied English in this school where now I'm working for, All teachers and staffs are so nice and fun. My co-worker is also very nice and friendly. So far, I only worked there as a volunteer one time per 2 weeks, not many comments about this company. But I still appreciate that I have a chance to learn something there.

Low pay, high expectations, and no support. The owners take advantage of the hardworking staff, turn over is really high. There are so many other EL schools in the city that offer competitive pay and have internal support, so I would avoid UMC at all costs.

Great management. Friendly  work environment. The students are 
engaging and enthusiastic. 
The curriculum supports all language skills and is very well received by the students.
