The only thing good was your colleagues. The problem is they would usually get canned or leave. Revolving door of floor staff, which customers notice and comment on. Work is basic tedious and repetitive retail work that you will see at any retail sales associate job. Difference is you are serving customers that sometimes happen to carry firearms. There is barely any room for advancement. You will earn minimum wage and will likely not receive a raise, but you can earn commision (That is more like an incentive than a raise). You will have to demand a raise if you want one, and even then it could be 5 years before you recieve a proper one. Store management was good. The whole company is pretty unorganized. Plus side is that they sell cool stuff that's unique in winnipeg. 

Would not recommend working here.

I joined Corporate Security Supply / Urban Tactical 15 months ago after more than 40 years working in large companies in a wide range of industries .  It’s refreshing to work for a smaller, Winnipeg-based company that is growing strongly and has a very bright future!

I'm new to the team, but you wouldn't even know it. Everyone from day one has been supportive, pleasant and encouraging. I would recommend this company to anyone who likes to be challenged, whose curious to learn and who genuinely cares about the job they did at the end of the day. We're privileged to work with some really great people, in a constantly evolving environment. The president/owner is forward thinking and provides constant support and encouragement to his team. There are tons of opportunities for growth, so if you're a hard worker that wants to go places, start here!

Nothing in the job posting was factual. Starting salary was below what was posted and when inquired it was "probationary" following probation it did not change.
Salary was WELL below the posted range
"benefits" were none existent despite multiple inquiries
low level management were supportive but unable to fix higher level problems.
store pricing was such that even with employee discount it was cheaper to shop elsewhere and pay full price.

This workplace is super disorganized. Some coworkers are nice but many will stab you in the back as soon as they can. People are very two faced here and throwing other people under the bus is encouraged by the owner. It is a pleasant work environment until something goes wrong, which is often because everything is disorganized, or until the owner is around, which is not all the time but he is an extreme micromanager when he is around and needs to do your job for you. Turnover is super high here and you feel like you could get fired at any time, there is no job security and the owner is a bit of a lose cannon.

I was a warehouse receiver/order picker/ delivery driver. Imagine having all  that workload on you and being expected to have it all done at a job that pays a dollar above minimum wage. I always felt belittled and bullied by the managers and especially the CEO of this company. I've seen people come and go on my short time in this company for 6 months. The turnover rate here is insane due to a toxic environment and  pressure. This companies warehouse was named Corporate Security Supplies but due to horrible reviews it had it is no longer in this website. Now they just use this one to post for their warehouse jobs.

Working there for for just a short term I found the lack of communication and disorganized system made for a uncertain, stressful and unhappy work environment, where people were at each others throats. The turn over rate is unsurprising considering the way people are treated by upper management. There is unrealistic expectations and a culture of back stabbing and Micro Managing within the warehouse with little trust. I wouldn't recommend anyone work there, the moneys not good or worth the Stress and workload.

Being a Sales Associate at Urban Tactical is like one of those retail jobs where the place is dead all day so you have nothing to do. You feel like you’re stuck browsing around a store, cleaning over and over. The management is not great, just a few people who have been working there too long and treat their employees bad.   If you want a mind numbing job trying to find things to do all day with selling boots to rude working people and polite police officers, this job would be perfect for you.

The floor staff and retail managers were incredibly friendly, helpful, understanding, meet all of your needs, and always willing to teach you something new. But... There is a huge disconnection between upper management and floor staff, they set ridiculous goals, don't give clear direction to literally any task. On most shifts you'll find yourself standing around talking to your coworkers because of how dead the store is

I worked at the Brantford location for a few years, and have now moved on to my final career. 

This was the most exciting environment I have had the pleasure working in, and made some of the best colleagues and contacts in order to successfully prepare myself for the future. 

He customers and role changed daily which made the shifts fly by.
