This is a good and generally rewarding job as you are helping people achieve tasks in their daily life by safely transporting them to various destinations of their choice. The requirements are quite stringent to qualify as a full time employee, you must be willing to commit to 60 hours a week. You are given 1 hour paid break time in every 12 hour shift that you can usually split up or take all at once, generally whenever you like. This ensures you always have time to stretch, take washroom breaks, eat and even just breathe for a minute and regain your focus. If you are fortunate enough to be hired during the establishment process in a new city you will be paid a guaranteed hourly rate to ensure you're making a living wage while things develop and the demand is growing but inconsistent. However this isn't permanent and can be terminated within a short time period at the discretion of URIDE.  Once it is over, you will make 85% of the earnings generated from the trips you complete! You do get some tips, but don't bank on this as many people forget this part of the transaction due to the app streamlining and handling the processing of the payment and removing the point where the customer would determine whether or not they wanted to tip you after services rendered.  Speaking from direct experiences, cab drivers make more tips than rideshare drivers, even though the fare is almost always considerably less with rideshare. Cab drivers also usually work 8-10 hour shifts, not 12 hours. But they also work with a completely random rotating schedule and with Uride you can pick and choose your own hours. But there's no rules saying it will always be busy during the hours you choose to accommodate your life. This is part of the reasoning behind the rotating schedule with cabs, it ensures every driver has a chance to make good revenue and helps prevent them from getting discouraged from working certain days. Take this into consideration when planning your schedule. Be flexible and work some nights and different days when you can and your income should be consistent and sustainable. This can be tricky to find the balance when your household operates on a regular Mon-Fri 9-5 schedule, but it is doable!

I am usually exited to start the work day and with whom I will meet, I typically work 2 days a week and take calling's for XL rides.  If it's steady the job is enjoyable but during covid we do get some slow periods that drag the day for a bit.  I have experienced a lot of different ethnic groups and overall have experienced a enjoyable relationship with everyone being  very polite, gracious, pleasant and thankful for our service which makes the work more rewarding because of their appreciation of you.  I am sure this comes alog with how you also treat your customers.  The management team could not be more helpful, courteous and friendly plus the other drivers all work to help each other out when in need.  The hardest part of the job is when there is a slow down of requests for rides as waiting is not the most enjoyable aspect of any activity.  You have to love the interaction with other people, everyone has a story which is an education of life all it's own, it can open your eyes on aspects of life you would not normally understand.  

This place at first glance seems good. And in the beginning you seem like you think you made the right choice. But reality sets in when you find yourself sitting somewhere many times over an hour and no one to drive. Or you can drive all across town to pick up a ride and literally drive them a few blocks. If you like long country drives that’s great too. You can drive someone 1/2 out city limits or more seems great until you realize you now drive back empty at your expense. You will have some good shifts where you make a decent buck but be prepared that this is not the norm. They put too many drivers on at one time and you wait anywhere hoping to get another ride. Over all you will put tones of mill ages on your car have to keep up with maintenance extra oil changes etc. Not worth it. When you realize you are destroying your car pay is low with no benefits. Company does cover insurance while you are driving for them but your risks for accidents increase too and you will be left with a damaged vehicle.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working with Uride is the flexibility and independence it gives me. I’m able to choose my own hours and work around my schedule, which makes it easy to balance work with my personal responsibilities. I also enjoy meeting new people every day and providing a safe, reliable service in my community. Uride’s platform is straightforward and supportive, which makes driving smooth and rewarding.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of working with Uride is that demand can be unpredictable. Some days are very busy, while other days can be slow, so earnings are not always consistent. Traffic, weather conditions, and dealing with different passenger behaviors can also add pressure at times. However, I’ve learned to manage these challenges by planning my schedule wisely, staying patient, and focusing on providing good customer service.

Been driving for Uride in North Bay since day one.  Will be 2 years in June. Best job I've ever had!!  Flexible schedule, take time off when you need to. As a contractor for Uride it's basically your own business and you have business write offs.  Enjoy talking to regular and new customers everyday, and like making their lives easier.  I also believe in this service to help people stop drinking and driving!!  I find that once a rider tries us for the first time they always come back.  You only get out of this profession as much as you put into it.  The more you work the more you make....it's also a great part time job for extra money.  Management and dispatch are professional, supportive and truly care for their drivers and customers.  I've had over 5,000 safe rides and look forward to many more!!  Definitely recommend this for anyone....the rest is up to you.

They can't afford to pay managers properly, so they force them to drive to supplement their pay. They force managers to work long hours without pay to recruit more drivers. They ask managers to come up with new ways to lie to applicants so that they become drivers. This is easily the highest turnover company in Canada, period. Uride does nothing of value to retain drivers, so managers have to work longer and longer hours just to keep up with the turnover. If managers are unable to hire enough drivers, they’re guilted into driving by the owner via a phone call from the United Kingdom. Uride is constantly changing incentives to retain drivers, or creating half-baked partnerships with charities to pick up news headlines. What they really should be doing is changing driver’s “contractor” status to “employee” and start paying vacation, overtime, cpp, EI, and WSIB. Driver retention would change overnight.

The owners, managers & dispatch are very good people that know their business & care about their drivers & clients.

Some of these negative reviews here are unfairly written as many of them were obviously not meant for driving.  Pay them no mind.  Positivity breeds positivity.

To succeed, you have to be somewhat social at least.  Talking with clients is 90% of the job.  Like any job, you get what you put into it.  If you expect to drive a few clients & walk away rich, your unrealistic.  The more hours you drive, the more you make.  Simple as that.
If you help grow the community with great customer service & attitude, the money will come.
I love this job & highly recommend it to anyone that is curious about driving for part time pay or even a full time job. 🙂

You make $35 IF it’s busy, and that’s before the cost of gas and maintenance, and before tax, you have to bank your income tax portion till tax time making your pay checks seem bigger than they are compared to other jobs

Add to that the lack of benefits, workers comp, sick pay, pension, and job security and you’ve got one of the worst jobs on earth. They can and will fire you without notice, warning or reason. These companies are destroying job culture by undermining the standards put in place by governments over the last 80 years like minimum wage and sick leave.

I have been driving for over 2 years now and I still love it. I was originally only driving part-time on weekends, while I worked my full-time job in construction. But due to covid my construction job changed so I had the opportunity to start driving full-time days with URIDE. I have been driving for over a year now full time and I really enjoy it. Every day is different some days are busier than others but overall it is a good way to earn some money and meet a lot of people. URIDE is a great company to work for and I would highly recommend you check them out if you are looking for an additional way to make some money. 

The amount of km put on the vehicle plus maintenance you work for less than minimum wage. They promised a certain salary then after a few months of them bringing the app online in our area then dropped guarantee. They have recently changed the app which is a horrible design and have taken away a lot of features that helped keep uride accountable. If you are running on a guarantee they try and find every little mistake so they don’t have to pay it out. Uride is a super shady company and would advise agains driving for them. When you try to ask about why changes were made you get ignored and your messages on their apps deleted.
