Working at Valhalla has really opened my perspective of the outdoor industry & I couldn't be more in love. When customers come into our store its more than just helping them buy something. It's an experience & an opportunity to not only help someone but also grow a relationship with our customers. To give them the best advice and gear for their next adventure. The hardest part of my job is hearing everyone talk about there epic travel and adventure plans, sure does make me jealous; however also very excited for them. 

One of my favorite aspects of my job is the people I work with. The owners are an absolute delight, my manager is such an incredible  woman (she is very cool) & my coworkers are so knowledgeable and passionate, Its inspiring. 

I've never felt so at home with a job before & I feel truly blessed to have met everyone I have so far. I can't wait to see where else my journey with this job will take me, what else I will learn, who I will meet and mostly how I will grow as an individual and with my team.

Great manager, they really care
We recently got a raise which is fair because of the local high rental price, price of food, bills etc.
The retail space needs to be bigger, the workload is high most days, but the staff pull together and try to get it done.
The schedule is a little disappointing, open 7 days a week, no matter the weather or not.
And no one can have weekends off except management. So sometimes can feel a bit defeating.. 

A typical day working at Valhalla Pure Outfitters is pure joy. Everyone comes with a smile on their face to work and working with friendly staff makes a great team. We learn lots as team with team meetings once a month and staff training on products/ brands we sell. The management is great and personal always checking in with you and wanting to see you grow in your position. The workplace and culture is geard towards outdoor adventure. The hardest part of the job would be boxing day when we have the most shopers but we get through it has a team. The most enjoyable part of this job is making community friends with consistent customers.

Very flexible with work hours and a Great work environment

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Low pay and off season is very very slow

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Fantastic and low pressure. Customers are usually very understanding and have amazing story’s to share. There are also some great deals working through them.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Nice and easy. Usually a nice pace to the day

What is the best part of working at the company?
Poor management, the owner is the most disrespectfully person as I meet,  low salary, no sales bonus or commissions.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management and work routine is so boring, no grow opportunities 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Extra Work no extra money culture

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Super slow and boring, all day caress the clothes.

Always a wonderful team of people to work with as well as wonderful customers.  While it is a retail job, the pay is fair but there are many perks beyond the paycheck, such as staff events, paid training with meals, discounts, etc.  
Management is very fair and I feel extremely valued as an employee.  Very open communication and flexible schedule.  Very accommodating and wonderful place to work.

I loved my time at the Red Deer store. as far as a retail experience goes, you can't beat this one. There is opportunity to meet great people and get deals on great gear. 
I learned so much here and  it was bitter sweet to move on.

Average retail work. Talking to customers discussing gear, often discussing upcoming or recent trips. Helping customers get geared up for any activities they want to do outdoors. Hardest part of the job is not spending everything I made on new gear. Awesome group of staff and management.

It has been a nice place to work with a lot of different learning opportunities. It is a fun place with very interesting and high-quality gear with tons of resources to learn about everything instore.

The retail team, head office support, and in-store managers are generally wonderful! The owner of the store actively works against his team, customers, and suppliers to create a truly toxic environment.
