I applied and was hired shortly after graduating with a business degree. At the time, I was excited but not totally sure of what I was walking into, nor did I know exactly what kind of career path I wanted. Fast forward a few years later and I have found myself holding a management position and an incredibly rewarding career. It hasn’t always been easy, it’s a challenging job and that is what keeps things interesting, but my superiors have continually helped me along the way. They have been supportive through my failures and have never failed to generously reward successes. If you are looking for a job that will truly engage you, push you to grow and ultimately allow you to learn new things constantly then Valnet is the place for you.

The office culture is great as well. There are free snacks, lunches, and fantastic events. More importantly though, Valnet has a very competitive culture that encourages hard work and resourcefulness. It is not a place for those who are looking to coast. It is a very dynamic environment unburdened by the loads of bureaucracy commonly found at bigger organizations. Valnet operates lean and because of this, you will often find yourself having the opportunity to increase the scope of your responsibilities and work on different things. Given that it is a quickly growing company, there are also a lot of opportunities for advancement and career growth. 

Valnet isn’t the place for everyone though, if you are looking for low stress job where everything is clearly defined and you are always told what to do, this isn’t the place for you. The pressures of this reality can rub some people the wrong way, but this is the only way to thrive in a hyper competitive industry.

A few years removed from my start date, I consider myself incredibly lucky to have been hired at Valnet of all places and hope to spend many years more working with so many great colleagues, many of which have become great friends.

I've worked with Valnet in some capacity for over six years at this point. Throughout my time here, I've been fortunate to be surrounded by talented and caring coworkers who have actively sought to help me on my career path.

The flexibility of being able to have a remote online position with Valnet has been incredibly beneficial to my life and productivity. I'd say that and the content I work with are the best things about the job.

I don't mean to sound like I'm just saying rote good things about them, but it's actually kind of difficult to put into words how professionally fulfilled I feel with Valnet, especially when looking back on my first position with them, working as a freelancer.

I started off writing articles, advanced to editing, and then began managing a team of writers and editors.

It took a while to progress, and at the beginning, the pay wasn't the greatest. But it's the people who I've worked with who have been the best part of the job. I've met so many talented and kind people while working here. And as I progressed in my career, I've always felt more than compensated.

I've been with Valnet for eight months in a manager-level role, and my experience so far has been positive. Everyone I work with takes their job very seriously, which I appreciate, because I do too. We all work hard, long hours, not exactly a nine-to-five role for me, but I knew that would be the case when I accepted the offer. I work remotely, and Valnet is not a remote company, so there were some growing pains in establishing relationships with my peers who work every day in the office. But we worked through them, and Valnet has made it easy for me to work out of the office when needed, though the company definitely prioritizes hiring employees who can work in a physical office. Valnet is very much a results-oriented company, and it relies heavily on performance metrics. This is a good thing for me, as I thrive on having clear, measurable goals. Overall, my first eight months have been positive. 

Valnet has a unique ability to challenge and encourage you to perform at your highest level. It is a company that places a lot of trust in its employees, and therefore presents opportunities that often catch you off guard - at least they did for me. Which is motivating and challenging, and prevents you from ever getting complacent. This company operates in a fast-paced industry that is always changing, which is incredibly stimulating and never boring. It may not be for everyone, but if you are anything like me and are looking to leave your comfort zone, then this company will provide exactly that. Ping pong and free lunches are fun, but the real value for me has been what I've learned and the personal growth that I’ve experienced in such a short time.

The fast-paced industry isn’t for the faint of heart. Responsibilities change quickly and frequently which can make it difficult to build momentum unless you are very disciplined. Flexibility is a must!

Overall Valnet is a solid company to work at in the position I have. I have good autonomy in my everyday tasks, a decent work-life balance and the ability to work completely remote.

However, remote work does come with its disadvantages. I feel out of the loop a bit with the day-to-day events of the company and that can cause a disconnect at times in what is expected from the job.

The bigger issue I have is the lofty expectations management have for their growth, even if they don't always want to provide the resources to get to that level. This requires more investment than they are sometimes willing to make.

In terms of benefits, I can't say I have much experience from other companies but no complaints there.

I cannot speak to the workplace culture as I'm a remote worker.

I spend most of my day at my desk working on my three computer screens. Sometimes group meetings to best strategize for most optimization of our work. I've learned so much about social media culture, policies, business analyzation, reading statistic reports, creating business reports, and so much more. This job has been a productive learning experience, if nothing else. The hardest part of my job would be the fact that work does not stop at the office, however this is not something that I mind because I love my work. Just sometimes, it is hard to plan ahead for things because of this. The most enjoyable part of the job is that I get to work online doing research, working on things that I'm interested, working with photoshop, and with a team that is extremely positive.

I've really enjoyed my experience at Valnet Inc. I enjoy the people I work with and the environment I am around. Everyday I come into work and know what I am expected to do and make sure I get these tasks done on time. The management at Valnet is amazing, they are very understanding and trust me to get my work done on time. They are always giving me tips to help me become a better worker and be more efficient. The workspace culture is also great, everyone is very friendly with each other even if you are in different departments. The most enjoyable part of the job is getting to learn more about my co workers and working collaboratory with them. As the months have progressed here I've gotten more and more comfortable and created new relationships with those I am working with. I am excited to keep growing and facing new challenges a long the way that will help me become a better worker. Overall I've really enjoyed my time here and looking forward to continuing to grow.

Some of this company's websites have gotten quite a fiery reputation, with ScreenRant and CBR being the most contentious ones, and it's not for nothing. What seems like a comfy remote job for pop culture enthusiasts is a trafficking-obsessed slog. 

The writing process itself can be fun, colleagues are generally friendly, and the schedule's flexibility is heavenly, but everything else is a chore. 

Writers have to pitch, sometimes frequently if the editors are picky. They also have to construct their articles in this format full of hyperlinks, which should be an editor's job. They also have to potentially look for, edit, and upload pictures. 

This can easily make a 45-minute task last a couple of hours. All of that for between $10 to $18 an article depending on the website.

It'd be tolerable if the pay were good, but unless you pump out article after article, you're better off having a minimum wage job. It's more consistent and less deceiving.
