Velan Inc

Worked at Velan for around one year as a buyer, learned a lot, proud of the products delivered with good teammates collaboration..
However, here are some comments from my job:
- Long working hours every day to complete regular tasks including meetings suppliers (weekly) in early morning or evening. 
- Always penalized by Monthly supplier bad KPI review made me frustrated (compared to my daily hard work & effort).
- Lots of tasks for buyer with limited freedom (too many supervision / process) make it more difficult to finish daily tasks.
-  To many meetings for operational position (buyer)

During interviews they are trying to show how professional they are. But in reality once you start your job, you will realize that there is no proper training for new employees. Managers are not supportive at all. Employees working under so much stress, they always try to protect their job. No one will be friendly there, toxic people and environment. If you are a new employee there good luck because you will never get any kind of supports from your manager or colleagues, you will be all by yourself. Don’t recommend this company at all. The only good thing about this company is salary and benefits.

Great people to work with mostly in plant 2 and 7. I was an internee for summer and had a great supervisor. There were other internees too in summer and it was fun. The project was ok for an internee. The salary was ok for my first internship and the project that i had even though it was less compared to some other companies. New employees are trying to improve the working procedure but some old employees trying to resist. Need a better communication between foremen.

Velan had been the type of company that did not pay the highest salaries but gave a person job security and a human work environment that took work/life balance into account. Unfortunately times are changing. Company is transforming itself into yet another corporate entity that views people as numbers. Employees are being asked to do more with less.

Suitable work-life balance. Salary package is between average and good.

Management and communications are not so good. Silo culture is deeply rooted. No growth in academic or skills talent. Management is highly political and non-transparent. Priorities are always unclear and higher arci took no notice of loyal employees and their suggestions to make the necessary changes in the system, resulting in every order and commitments for documents submittal to be late.

Velan Inc. is a leading valve manufacturing company in the world. Valve production range consists of almost all types known (viz. Gate, Globe, Check, Ball, Butterfly, Needle, Control, etc.) and the service range goes as high as severe service in the nuclear, oil, power sectors. The company is certified by almost all major certification, most important of those are ISO 9001 (since 1991), ASME N stamp for nuclear quality (since 1970), API 6D, etc.

I was a quote administrator and I had a good time. The co-workers are great and I appreciated them. I moved on because I was offered something else. I had around 48k and when I ask 50k, the HR representative told me there was no way I would ever get that. This was pretty much the only draw back :/

The company is striving to make important improvements in many areas as it continues to transform itself.  The company has implemented frequent surveys to better gauge the sentiment of the workforce, has increased on the job training.

Learn job safety training esp. On welding area . The management always orient and encourage employees to be more productive to achieve the goal. The company give opportunity to learn more knowledge and skills to his own field of specialization , thru schooling and seminars.

 The company has clients worldwide ranging from oil and gas to nuclear. There are numerous opportunities to gain exposure to manufacturing and quality control. The people working there usually have long careers and are great people. Can be boring at times but challenging projects make up for it.
