I enjoyed my time at Vermeer Canada. The job was fun, I enjoyed getting to know customers and employees from other branches. Field work was nice as it was a change of scenery on service calls. There was however, some politics that promises that were not met. 2 weeks prior to my lay off I was ensured that all 3 of our positions were safe, and then one day I walk in to a letter on my desk stating I was receiving a temporary lay off. Being a father of 2 the promise of job security was appreciated, and then a great feeling of being let down with so little notice. Very disappointing of a company that I regarded so high.

Top heavy management team, never a pay increase for the people that actually work. Management team is never on site and when they are they can’t be bothered to give you the time of day. Guys on the floor are out for themselves and have no problem throwing you under the buss, or bad mouthing you to management or customers to make themselves look better. Toxic, stressful work environment.

Management is good, but the shop I was working at was not friendly. The Forman was not helpful. He made the environment feel tensed for no reason. 
The company as a whole was good. Upper management is friendly and put on good moral boosting activities every few weeks. Unfortunately, my everyday work life could not handle the tension in the shop from the Forman. 


Always people checking up on you to make sure you have what you need and are comfortable. The tool allowance for apprentices is very good, as well as an allowance for work boots every year too. Managers often moving around to see if any branch has something they can improve on, which is good to have.

Literally as the title says , salesman making 150k a year to start and the ticketed mechanics making less than half of that, cut the fat off the top end and pay the trades already , owners literally need to shake their heads and wake up

It was a very negative work environment.  Everyone in the office hates their jobs which makes for a very long workday.  The unprofessionalism was over the top and management didn't care.  There is no training for new people so they are left to fend for themselves.

Toxic work environment.
High turnover over of technicians and parts advisors.
No training.
No quality shop tooling. Must supply your own. 
No communication from management. Very stressful.

No room for anything..if your skilled they fear you and prefer hiring less skilled people to profit more at cost of customer!!! Run..stay away...Extremely high employee turnover for a reason!!

Lack of work, busy and slow seasons.

Vermeer is a solid brand with a great reputation in its field. The Acheson branch is a bland work environment with an atmosphere of underachievers content with skimming through life on 45k-50k a year for 9.5h shifts.
