A typical day at work during a slow period consists of cleaning your tools, cleaning your work bay, helping others with their projects, taking on work as it comes through the door.
I've learned a lot through Toyota's schooling and the people showing me how things are done correctly.
Management is full of awesome people that sometimes have trouble communicating what needs to get done and how.
The workplace is full of awesome people that generally stick to themselves unless they need extra guidance or realize someone else needs help.
The hardest part of the job can be dealing with customers that don't know what they're talking about or attempting to work with bad instructions from management.
The most enjoyable part of the job is successfully fixing a vehicle or completing a project that you were assigned to. Being able to show off what good work you did or having someone from higher on the command chain recognize the work you're doing as amazing.

I came to Vernon Toyota after working in several other automotive positions at various locations. My experience at Vernon Toyota was the best compared to any dealership I have ever worked at. 

Management was fantastic and they do whatever they can to help you succeed and achieve your goals. You are provided with training to ensure that you are equipped to execute your tasks.

Colleagues are fun to work with and everyone functions together as a team. There is a strong sense of trust between everyone at Vernon Toyota. This is unique in a dealership and they have an extraordinary amount of long term employees as a result of the trust between staff. It is a testimate to the great culture they have created. 

I would highly recommend working here if ever given the opportunity. This is truly a special place to become a team member.

Love Toyota, the product, their philosophies etc.  Have learned many things from the forward thinking company.  I fully respect the "Green" nature as well, means I can sell their product with conviction.  
At the dealership level, it has become more difficult to keep the excitement due to customer expectations.  Changes in economy have brought on lower pricing, however there is always the expectation for more.  
Hardest part of the job is breaking down the "walls" of customers to help them find the right vehicle.
Most enjoyable is find the right fit for someone, and having the flow of the sale.  It can be fun!

Salary was decent, just a bit above the legal minimum wage. Benefits though nice, costed more than most places by an extreme amount. Job progression was really about who you know not what you know or how hard you work. Promises would be made and never followed up on or would be used to get you to do more, with the idea that once you do that little bit more you'll get what was promised whether it be a promotion, apprenticship or wage increase. 

Honestly would not recommend working here for a long time, it is a good short term job.

They do not pay you commissions or spiffs other anything Extra that makes the automotive industry worth doing. Owner doesn’t care about staff and had them carry hundreds of dollars worth of his Christmas gifts for his family from his upstairs office to his vehicle right through the showroom. Common, treat people as equals not as your servants. All other staff were great but sales manager and owner make it not worth applying for

Company truly values great culture and great personality. 

Staff are encouraged to sign up and attend training and continued education.

There is a great sense of belonging and ownership in everyone. Management works very hard to ensure all staff feel supported and empowered.

Open communication and a very safe environment to provide feedback. Everyone door is open for each other at all times

High overturn for a very good reason. You will probably always see Vernon Toyota hiring for at least 2 positions constantly. They quite literally said "this is not a dead end job" in the interview. It is a dead end job. Do not expect advancement. Do not expect a good pay raise. 
It is not hard work, but what you see is what you get. 


I was told in intrview they were an extremely busy dealership most days spent wondering looking for make work projects. We agrred to a wage and when payday came wage I was given wasnot wage agreed upon. Took a month to get straightened out. Service manager was sick for 2 weeks and still came to work. Then laid off the workers because of covid.

Working with the Vernon Toyota team is a genuine pleasure. The team members are friendly, and the diverse tasks within my role consistently keep me engaged and challenged. The atmosphere feels like a close-knit family, and honestly, what more could one ask for? 

Constant staffing shortages. Very low rate of pay to start. Depending on the department you work in, you get very little help from management. VERY high rate of turnover for a reason. I would not recommend working there.
