Veterinary Purchasing

A typical day at work included picking orders to the invoices, checking others orders for errors, and packing the orders before shipping them off. Most days I worked on the warehouse floor, but on others I would be packing/checking orders the whole day, or working on the dock - loading trailers for shipping. I learned the general responsibilities of having a job as well as collaboration skills and attention to detail. The management sometimes made decisions that angered many of the employees and caused what seemed to be unnecessary head aches. However, in my experience they were very fair, and provided me with periods of absence when required for my education. Vet Purchasing had a specific attitude among students employees, there was a lot of gossiping in the warehouse but overall the student workers were fairly positive while some of the older workers were bitter and treated the students with attitude. The most enjoyable part was working Sunday shifts with my favorite co-workers. The days were relaxed and had a 4 dollar premium. The job also payed slightly more than minimum wage on a regular day, which didn't hurt.

The management encourages people to act like children and be immature and will not take action against problem employes that have tenure and instead will get rid of people on probation who have the misfortune of running into this employees.   Also if they suspect you of misconduct they will just get rid of you and will refuse to be willing to let you give an account of yourself nor will they even listen to you 

I actually kind of liked working here, good people and employees, family atmosphere for the most part. management was a little sketchy and 2 faced, my shoulder was bugging me from hand bombing transport trailers, I asked if I could do a different job for the last 2 days of the week (1 week  before probation was over) they said yeah no problem, next morning they walked me into office and fired me. Was rather disappointing because I made a lot of good friends there.

You are on your feet all day, which I like- they keep you busy. Management makes decisions and doesn't seem to consider the staffs opinions or the effect it will have on their lives. You never knew what time you would be finished for the day and things changes quickly. Lots of opportunity to learn different areas and some opportunity to work part time in the office/ order desk. Lots of long term employees here but many new people leave.

It's just a job. It's not a career. Little advancement if you aren't related to anyone higher up. Music and podcasts allowed through headphones. Management seems to only care about themselves. Most coworkers are okay, but older ones can be catty for no reason other than bored. No office people trained on the floor properly, yet put unnecessary pressure on us to get things done faster. Even during covid.

A day at work started at 8 a.m and would end when the orders were packed and gone. At this job there is no set end time for the day.
Management was very set in their ways and did not like change.
Most people there made the days enjoyable. The most difficult and the most enjoyable parts were the problems I had to deal with and the solutions I had to come up with to fix them.

Poor warehouse managers have turned a once desirable place of work to a toxic environment in a short period of time. This company cares nothing for employees and will completely switch your work schedule, on a whim, for no reason at all. Hard work means nothing if you're not friends/family with the bosses. 

Not a physically demanding job, depending on where you are put. Management needs to be more professional and organized. Hiring process needs to be more thorough in my opinion. Human resources need to be more reliable to the warehouse employees. Not a bad first job, but lack of benefits make it hard to be a forever job.

I had worked at veterinary purchasing for 6 years. It was a great place to work and always strived to give its customers quality service. I left not due to the company but to my own desire to move from the wholesale industry into the manufacturing industry.

it was an easy and fast paced environment to work with. The owner was an easy, very knowledgable person to communicate and work along side, and gave a lot of trust.
