Two very distinct cliques the dos and do nots, favourites played on all levels, unsafe practices encouraged to hit the numbers needed. 
HR is a disaster and most of the time not present in the building but there is a recognized employee that will hear the concern to make it appear HR issues are of some level of importance. 
Over all one of the most wasteful companies I have ever had the displeasure of working for, there is so much potential good this company could do for its communities but supposed red tape and rules prevent them from helping their community (ask the houses that are behind the Lorne Ave location in Stratford where the slamming of the press have to affect everyone in the area of that plant).
Temp workers are treated less than appropriate and are as disposable as wet wipes to the management and supervisors that actively encourage if they can't cut it make them leave philosophy, I lost count of how many I watched leave in a fit of rage or a fit of sadness with water works. 
If you are a lady do not work on the shop floor unless you have very thick skin and choose to tolerate a very poor work environment where reportable incidents get shoved under rugs for the doers. 
They like most in the area are bringing in Automobile factory people that attempt to bring in practises and procedures designed for that industry and unless it's a doers idea, you may get e terd in a monthly draw for a gift card but your ideas fall on deaf ears. 
Training is minimal and if the machine acts up and the lead maintenence is busy, your on your own especially with 2 of the supervisors 1 will help and work hard with those that work hard with him or the numbers are low. The other 2 will allow you to flounder to test your resolve and see if the begin to push you out or bring you in. 
In short unless you absolutely have to work on the floor for this company DO NOT they would replace you before the grass covered you cemetery plot and they wouldn't have sent flowers because of the expense unless you were a doer of course.

Some people were really nice. Yet managers don't want to deal with anything. Certain lead hands are good but rest are beyond arrogant, some trainers are beyond disrespectful. Hr is very lucrative. The lack of communication and understanding the situation is pathetic. Let alone the amount of arguments of getting a raise is sad. If the management don't like you good luck getting one without complaining. Safety isn't even remotely good. Constantly calling for overtime in the summer and a lack of hours in the winter. Good luck getting 35 hours in the winter. Let alone being cold all winter. The benefits are subpar. The other issue is trying to get a straight shift job without having to rotate weekly.  If you do get hired here find something quick and this is from someone that was there over 3.5 years. 

Worked here for almost 4yrs.. Very challenging task was given and production deadlines were tight on summers but management will support you and help gain enough knowledge to continue growing and be equipped to get ready for future adversities in production. Started here without any knowledge on the machineries but quite confident I learned a lot before leaving. Something that you would consider to settle for a  long term commitment but economy was not that good during my stay that they have to let go of some when its slow during winters that would be imposible for a second shift schedule to work out then. Otherwise it might have been a different story.. 

In my time at vicwest I worked very hard and cooperated with everyone. 
Unfortunately I was constructively dismissed. When I started they had another temp which they fired within a week of me being there, same thing happened to me, without warning and just after my 3 month probationary period. 

Had a very positive annual production review the previous week, so when I spoke with hr they stated there were “complaints” stating I wasn’t talking to another coworker which was my “work best friend”

Get to work have coffee and socialize with other workers.Morning meeting to discuss the days work for the day.Then go to our work areas and begin a productive day.To use forklifts,stand up lift trucks i.e.-Raymond Reach,Clark.Got along well,but as you know there is or can be heated discussions.Working in heavy down pours and snow storms,but worst part was shoveling materials out for shipping.When i got the trailer loaded fast so the truck drivers can get on their way.Also having time to assist the drivers tarp their loads if time permitted.JUST DOING A GREAT JOB and go home knowing i did a good job!

There is nothing good about this job. Lied to first day you start

The people and the management, very toxic made me not want to work corporate ever again 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic and bullying and management doesn’t guide you to succeed in the roles. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Getting harrased and also bullied and doing other people work. And also over worked over stimulating with all the arguments and blame game

start 7am get organized with the crew,put up fall protection roof barriers, made sure each employee had all personal safety equipment. made sure that there was fresh water avaiable & made sure each worker was sober. a little hard work is good for people in general. In roofing the weather is important because high-winds. Rain, snow &cold weather determines how much to do in a work day. In regards to co-workers some were not suited for this work & a few Foremen where not suitable to lead crews.

Cant speak for the main plant.  But the warehouse was understaffed. Underpaid. Under apprecianted. And not the best place to be if your health is something you care to. I learned alot about appreciation in what is behind a construction sites  shipment. How much effort and peoplepower it takes to run and facilitate hundreds of jobs worth of product. From big job to small jobs. To your mama papa shops and retailer stores. Vicwest

Vicwest cares about their employees and it shows.  They have so far handled the COVID situation very well.  If you have an issue with something there are people you can go to, and they will work with you to resolve it.  The work environment is great and they make sure that you have the tools you need to perform your role effectively.  

-Company is in a big personnel overhauling and IT transformation, this sometimes lead to rapid employee turnover rate, lack of staff training due to technologies rapidly being introduced to the business which the business doesn't have ample time to adjust and build training materials and schedule in knowledge sessions.
