The typical day at work is when I feel that I feel I have contributed to devellopement and productivity of my compagny and participate in its devellopement.
A Senior Technical Representative/ advisor with over 14 years of professional
experience in ‘Customer Technical Support’ in different telecommunication and new
technology environments in Canada.
Core knowledge in various software development languages and databases.
Main domain and area of expertise in developing & managing customers enquiries by
troubleshooting and offering relevant solutions. Knowledge of customer service
principles and practices. Professional experience in delivering service and support using
and operating automated call distribution phone software, via remote connection or
over the Internet.
Thru experience in this field and Interaction with customers to provide and process their
requests and enquiries and focusing on giving satisfaction to them in view of
maintaining ongoing business relationships, I have acquainted strong communication,
organization, and analytical customer service and resolution skills.
My experience gave me quick adaptability and ability to multitask in the changing
technical and Managerial atmospheres that are common in today's marketplace.

It is a classic customer service call center job, talking to clients 37.5 hours a week, even hired with a part-time status. 

We are first hired to work evenings and weekends, with the little premium that comes with that kind of schedule. Then, if we apply for the full-time status, we lose the premium, but then get to choose the daytime schedule you want (to some extent), have a more normal schedule and the pension plan becomes mandatory.
 
Independently of the status howewer, benefits are quite great, and the salary is good, which makes it a comfortable job to keep when ones does not have more than a high school diploma.

The most enyoyable part of the job is when you get to have an awesome manager and awesome colleagues. You get to go every day to work in an environment that causes stress, because of the clients generally, and then sometimes expections to be met, but in the meantime colleagues become friends. Making new friends may be one of the best things at that job. 

There are also lots of opportunities to change departments and go up the ladder, since customer service is pretty much the main entrance door of the company.

My tenure at Vidéotron Mediapages was under the context of an unpaid internship. 
Working for their directory (Mediapages) gave me an exceptional understanding of traditional B2B marketing techniques; we were required to research the market, & contact business with regards to advertising using Mediapages as a vehicle. 

Management was supportive, & once I demonstrated a fluent understanding of research methods & implementing my findings into weekly reports (generally in the form of either competitor movement or SWOT analysis for specific regions of Quebec), they gave me the opportunity to develp my skills in producing & copyediting 2 region's directories. 
I was given the task of partnering with their team of graphic designers to produce prototypes of the directories under heavy time constraints. We developed & produced overall aesthetic of the directory & I  copyedited its content.

Working for Videotron Mediapages gave me hands-on opportunity to develop skills which I had only previously used in a school setting. I would certainly recommend any other student to take advantage of their fast-paced, results oriented business environment.

1. Clear Vision & Communication
From the first call, their team knew what they wanted creatively. They provided detailed briefs about style, mood, and pacing — which made planning easy.

2. Professional Dancer Shoots
The videographers they hire are clearly experienced with movement and performance. They knew how to:
	•	follow choreography smoothly
	•	anticipate key moments
	•	frame shots to highlight energy and emotion
This made the final video feel dynamic and engaging.

3. Collaborative Environment
They encouraged input from dancers and the creative team, which isn’t always the case in technical shoots like this. That respect for artistic autonomy was a big plus.

4. Timely Delivery
Edited videos were delivered within the agreed timeframe — even with choreography changes late in the process, they stayed on schedule.

🛠️ What Could Be Improved

1. Gear Consistency
Some shoots had top-tier cameras and lighting, while others used more basic setups. It didn’t hurt the performance, but better consistency would improve overall quality.

The main problem with this company is that management does not trust its employees and micro-manages them.  There are "too many chiefs and not enough indians".  There is an adversarial relationship between management and unionized employees.

There is a constant tug-of-war between Engineering and Marketing-Sales.  (Marketing wants everything right away and Engineering takes too long trying to get everything perfect).  Everything moves too-fast when green-lighted or is stuck when red-lighted.

Around May or June of most years, management panics about hitting financial targets and a lot of development gets frozen.  Jobs are often left unfilled and promotions until December are unusual.

Everybody is always very busy explaining/covering their buts as to why things are not going perfectly.  Lots of energy gets wasted.

Yet turnover is rather low (although seems to have picked up.)
Most depressingly this is commonplace for the industry and most companies of this size.

Videotron was a pleasant experience, learned a lot from co-workers and management alike. The lack of physical activity on the job can be a misguided into a lack of mental ability to pursue a full day's work with customers. Otherwise a generally good work environment with little to no stress generated from the workplace, stress can be a side effect of dealing with customers, but Videotron does a great job of teaching stress management in its 44-day formation. Job advancement is relatively easy, it only requires time and good work ethic. Personally, I would have stayed much longer had it not been for personal issues to be dealt with. Would recommend to anyone looking for full-time stability with the ability to endure work days which consist of (the usual) customer service incoming phone calls.

You’re considered a part time employée even though you work full time hours (37.5) meaning there are a lot of benefits that only full timers get, such as being able to choose your schedule, which means you’ll get the schedule that they want you to get so forget about having the weekends off. Also very hard to get a full time position
Outsourcing to places where agents don’t care about how they do their jobs makes it difficult for the rest of us who actually know what we’re doing.
Need nerves of steel, learn to get past the people who scream at you on the phone
Very redundant, doing the same thing every single day, not a very stimulating job
The company does offer very good benefits, group insurance, vacation
The majority of supervisors are very nice and considering, however some will treat you like you’re beneath them

Working at Videotron was a nightmare. The management was disorganized and indifferent to employee concerns. They frequently changed schedules last minute without any regard for work-life balance. Training was practically nonexistent, leaving employees to fend for themselves, resulting in mistakes and frustration. The pay was abysmal, far below industry standards, and raises were nearly impossible to come by. Employee morale was low, with constant turnover due to the toxic work environment. HR was unresponsive to complaints, creating an atmosphere of fear and resentment. Additionally, the company showed little appreciation for hard work and dedication, leading to a lack of motivation among employees. Overall, Videotron is a company that fails to prioritize its employees' well-being and growth, making it a regrettable place to work.

A typical work day starts with the consultation of messages. In a call centre environment things change almost everyday. Flexibility and adaptability is needed. You never know what the next customer is going to ask or tell you. You always have to be ready and react in a positve manner. Working with your co workers is fun. Every one has a new story everyday. The management is very strict. You have target to reach but at times they also consider the human factor. What I like in my present job is being in contact with people everyday but it can also be consider as the most challenging thing  because you have to deal with circumstances of death and divorce which can be overwelming if not handle properly coupled with the fact that you also have to work on Sundays.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Don’t go work there, it’s a culture that promotes pointing fingers and you spent more time justifying what you are doing than actually working especially if you are in a manager and up position.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not recommended, everybody is working for themselves, no cross team work.  It’s not what can we do to work together, it’s this is what I need and just do it even if it does not make sense.
