Always training and swimming, keeping the team alert and active. Working early in the morning was my favorite, I had the rest of the evening to do what I like. Small shifts allowed me to train between shifts. The public was very friendly, always happy to see us and make small talk. The hardest part of the job was that if the pool had to be closed we didn't have any financial security. Although, the best part of this job in particular, is that we had options of which pool we wanted to work at, so we could change it up a bit.

It keeps you busy all day and you don’t get bored

Working for the city gives a good sense of job security. The pay is good and the 35hr work week leaves more time for personal affairs. Retirement benefits are trough the roof! vacation time is short at first, but over the years will rise up to 7 weeks.

Work hour can be flexible, but the amount cannot change (no part-time opportunities).

I was hired there for a contract for the winter to give parking tickets during the night shift. I was alone in a car and I drove around the city to give tickets. The hardest par of the job was when people saw me by the house and come out to yale at me. The rest of the job was really fun I was doing my things in the car listening to music.

The bleu collar workers are not treated or payed the way they should be .. in the last 15 years .. the blue collars have lost much of their power to the citys bargaining table we are hopping for a new
And better collective bargaining agreement 

Always Training in a group to better our lifeguarding skills.
Great teams for watching the pools, great supervisors who take there jobs with passion! hardest part of the job is working outdoors is poor weather conditions.

No team work. The employees are generally brats and exclusive. The  manager is incompetent and doesn't care about her job, her supervisors and the employees. No hours at all sometimes and no respect or care for the citizens. 
The work is nice, the people suck.

I liked working for the city of Gatineau, but after 7 years spent in that area i tought that it was time for me to move on. The city offers a great salary, but doesn't have great benefits for people who, like me, were working only part-time.

Relaxing yet demanding job, where you will meet wonderful peoples. The management is attentive to all of the needs of there employees and manage to be your friend while keeping the necessary status for a good leadership.
