Not at all open to remote work and accomodations for people with mental health problems. Very demanding on the hours you have to be available to work leading in having no family life causing many workers to have family problems including drinking, drug abuse. Many workers on the front lines have had major problems resulting in many of them having divorces. Have to be available almost 24/7 because of the weather conditions for most of the year, I myself have already worked 105 hours in a week ( out of a maximum 168 hours possible, 7 x 24). Overtime for non unionised staff is paid at simple time, not time and a half or double time like the unionised workers.

my overall experience so far is amazing. working for the city in day camps, gives you the opportunity to meet all kinds of different people. there is of course a lot of responsibility given you are looking after a group of maximum 15 children. however, it is never a dull moment, if you enjoy working with children. they will make you laugh all summer long. furthermore, you grow a bond with other monitors there and they become friends outside of work as well. the city of Laval encourages us to plan activities for just us monitors when we aren't working. this creates positive energy in the workspace. overall working for the city in day camps is a great experience. you build many great characteristics such as responsibility, punctuality, patience, think creatively, and so on.

a typical day at work would be, i come in, unlock the building. verify that everything is in place, manage the people that are coming later, make sure the place is clean. when the citizen come in, we welcome them, we guide and help them if they need any assistence. we assure security and help if something happen, we guide the client if they have any question about the city or what is happening in the building. at the end we make sure everyone leave and we close the building. ive learn alot about communication with client, how to act in stress situation. the hardest part of the job is if an accident happen to someone and they need medical intervention and the most enjoyable thing is talking to client who need help.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Helping offer public services and make sure everything goes well.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
With people that are regular from before you even worked, they will not understand if the rules have changed and act entitled, putting themselves and others in bad situations.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Show up, greet the people already waiting, wait for the signal to open, have a kind smile and look approchable. Make sure the rules are followed, stay nice and make sure when you leave you left no one behind on the ice.

The job is doable but there is a lack of job security. If you are temporary, that have not worked enough hours to be on the recall list, you have no voice. The supervisor can subjectively say you are no good and they won't call you for the next season. So smile, small talk and kiss... until you are on the list then the union starts recognizing you. Btw, if you are not French, Goodluck. 

I love working for the city of laval. Employers treat us very well, co-workers are amazing people, we are syndicated so superiors can't abuse us. I loved working with sport organizations, taking suggestions from citizens who lived in my neighborhood so we can share a better municipal land. What I didn't like was that the work schedsule was not flexible at all. To have a day off, there was a lot of paper work, and we were limited to three per contract.

This job is the student job for the city of Laval. We work with baseball associations, soccer associations, and citizens. The management is the entry level management for the city so it changes rather often. The hardest parts are the long hours required to get a full 40 hours in the best part is the number of people you meet. Great networking job for young people entering a summer job.

It was very nice working for them, unfortunately it was a temporary contract.

Nice co-workers, nice management staff, nice environment, salary was ok, not many bebe since it was temporary but overall it was very nice . 

I tried many times applying for other jobs but the website for ex-employees didn't work. 

Amazing experience to acquire and fun to work all summer long in the sun. Work with many different people of the public such as day camp, seniors and young families.

Depending on what Dexter you're in, you may have great management like in mine, secter 5, or have less organized people. But the goal is to increase wages and benefits until everything is up to the best standards
