A few years ago I worked as a busser at one of the properties and my experience was horrendous.

The management treated the bussers specifically like slaves , as we were responsible for most of the duties in the dining room that did not involve cooking. Most of us were 16 year olds working as much as we could outside of school and on the weekends.
That being said, we were expected to run around until our feet would bleed, and we were sweating buckets. I suffer with asthma and I stopped for a moment to catch my breath and was mocked for “huffing and puffing.” By upper management. We also had to work long banquet shifts and I was not told when my shifts would end. I was eager to work although If I had school the next day I would ask my end time to arrange a ride home from a parent. I would get screamed at and made to stay longer if I asked this question. Management would also ask for everyone’s tips than illegally take a portion out for themselves, as they felt entitled to everyone else’s hard earned tips for being on duty. They also had us wear pins that reflected the company logo. At times it would fall off and I would be threatened and screamed at by a family member of the owner. 

If a knife was a few degrees of place on the table I was screamed at and belittled in front of guests. Whenever I would stop to have a drink of water I was screamed at by management, this happened so often I would have mental breakdowns at work and eventually left. 

On top of the disgusting treatment the gift cards or pre paid visas that were given, only were given to staff with certain longevity and hours. A lot of staff were left out of this including myself who although had been there every week for a year, did not have enough hours. 

This is an absolutely horrific company to work for and I suggest anyone who is applying or debating it to look elsewhere. There are many jobs that will pay minimum wage, where the management will not make you cry every day.

I've been with Vintage Hotels for over 6 years and work in the sales department.  I've always been paid well and know that this company pays more then other hotels in the area.  Along with great pay the company has an excellent savings plan and profit sharing which is very generous!  The job is fast paced and very busy, which is why I love it, you definitely aren't bored in this department (even after being here for 6 years I can still say this). Some of the aspects that I enjoy about being with sales department are working with numerous hotels and departments daily, meeting new clients from all over the world, being able to entertain and show clients around the hotels as much as possible, having the support of management to travel and build client relationships (which is integral in any sales role) and having a great team of people to bounce ideas off of and work together allowing you to reach individual and group goals. The company always does their best to promote from within so there is a lot of opportunities to move departments or jobs within your current department. Niagara-on-the-Lake is a beautiful area to come to every day and Vintage Hotels really has amazing properties and services that we can offer our clients making doing sales here a really enjoyable job (I've worked for other hotels that were a hard sell due to locations or not being very nice and this is totally opposite from that).  I would highly recommended Vintage Hotels and the sales department if you are looking for a fulfilling sales job that offers a lot of potential for individual and group bonuses and opportunities to excel within the company.  A lot of sales departments have high turnover but I am happy to say that my colleagues and I have all been here for a quite some time and I know that I will continue to be part of this team for many years to come.

I have never been in a company like this my entire life and I am a professional from the Fortune 500 corporate world with 30 years experience.

Management is bad, HR is bad and all your experiences will be bad.  Everyone hates their jobs and the company, so morale is really bad soon as you step through the door. 

I started really positive but then people would constantly talk about how bad the company is, how bad their jobs are and how they are treated.  When you hear your coworkers talk negative every day you start paying attention.   We would process all the people terminated or left and it was always a huge list.  Most people can't get past a few weeks.

Soon as I started I was looking for a new job.  The sales and reservation teams are absolutely horrible and would go out of their way to make your life miserable. Management would generally be rude and demanding.

There is no budget, All the chairs in our department were broken and I had to fight with management and HR for 4 months to get a chair that wasn't broken.  6 months in I still didn't have the monitor they "ordered" for me when I started. They told me to stop drinking the fresh coffee and company lunch was just leftovers from the restaurant. wow.

Vintage Hotels treats people very poorly does not care about you, the managers don't care about you, your co-workers don't care about you. You will have no support, no proper training, no raises, no promotions, low pay, low morale, and a low budget. It's just mind boggling. This is a company that gives you PTSD.

There were a few good people, but they are probably gone by now.  This is a corporate culture that goes right for your soul.

There are several things that some past employees even here failed to mention so I’ll share some of my personal experiences from all of their NOTL locations.

-I’ve personally been sick from the “free lunches” and have seen coworkers become sick from them as well
-They will literally make up reasons to fire employees and even lower level management if they don’t like them. Not even for a professional or job related reason
-I can’t count how many coworkers I’ve seen crying because of management over the years
-Do not ever expect a raise even if promised one
-Overall actually a kind of dangerous work environment

Absolutely everything is outdated in these places, from computers to policies to the rooms. I’ve seen them paint over mold for god’s sake. It’s just not safe and they expect the world for low pay. All you get for Christmas is a 25$ gift card and any company incentives they give you are pretty worthless. It’s been a few years since I’ve left now but I still tell my friends and family not to even apply there. The “experience” isn’t worth it. I used to cry on my way into work before I quit in 2018 so please, do not work for this company or Niagara’s Finest Hotels (they own them if you didn’t know)

Just wish that we could all be treated fairly and not certain people always getting their preferred sections and way more tables than other servers that haven't been there as long, it is definitely not fair seating by host/hostess either not sure if they just don't understand how to rotate seating or if they just don't care to give fair seating to all servers but the lower level of the dining room is definitely way over sat then the rest of the diningroom and when sections are not rotated then the same servers are making bank every shift they work.. not idea situation if your new or even hired since covid, otherwise I think your hood but it is honestly not fair that certain servers call the shots and not management or supervisor on duty.. 
Tip pool is only good for that reason if your involved with the tip pool, personally I would rather be on my own... I work hard and when others don't but they end up getting a portion of your tips it sucks.
Servers don't tip out properly either when I say this I mean there is no set percentage on tip pool as to what they give to host, bussers, bar and supervisors they just put an amount aside without the calculation being done and I don't think that's right.

You're a number here. Management is cliquey and will stab you in the back and twist anything they can if they want you out (especially when you speak out on things). Don't expect a raise or any recognition after years of hard work and loyalty. Ask for any help and they take the opportunity away (but you have they're full support and help if you need it apparently). Overwork hotel and spa cleaners untill they are no longer physically able to work and will gaslight you as to why you take so much time off because of it. Building is falling apart, some parts extremely unsafe and staff complains yet no changes or updates made. Will accuse you of things and when higher up in HR confronts you with "evidence", threatens your job, it turns out you have to walk them through their own job because they didn't even look through the tapes long enough to see what actually happened, no apology after all that either.   I recommend applying elsewhere. Glitter on feces is still feces. If you love pizza parties, then this place is for you. 

I was lucky enough to get put on days. The wages are low for a multi million dollar Corporation. You are expected to do a lot for low pay and not ask questions. Management is very under qualified and did not care about staff just the bottom dollar and saving $$ so they get a good xmas bonus and raises. 

The so called free lunch is disgusting, it was usually cold breakfast thats been sitting out for hours, or it was carbs and pasta that was usually undercooked. I get that it is free but come on people in soup kitchens eat better than that! The only good days were if there was a wedding the night before than we got the left overs which were decent like steak or prime rib BUT this was maybe once a month if that. 

My Co-workers were great but there was no way for advancement just the way it was. 

***The best thing about this job was that in the summer when we up sold and were very profitable we would receive pre paid master cards where the value was anywhere from $30.00-95.00 it was a nice little bonus but again usually on in the summer when the Hotel was making hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Office of 30 women who all know each other and have worked there for years. Most of them were welcoming and inclusive! However it definitely felt like there were cliques and division within the department. 

Management did not care about their employees mental wellbeing, laughed it off when we were berated by guests on the phone. Barely followed proper procedures regarding sick days and instead tried to sneakily reduce hours as punishment..

Spa treatments are wildly expensive and not nearly as exclusive as they'd have you believe - anyone who stays overnight at a Vintage Hotel has access to the hot springs and swimming pool at Pillar and Post... be prepared to field lots of angry questions from people who were under a different impression.

If this job taught me anything it would be that I deserve better. From the stuffy work environment, to the insane dress code and horrible management - this is a place you’ll want to avoid. This entire place is beyond outdated - and I don’t just mean the horrific office decor and ancient computers. The policies are ridiculous (no piercings other than ears, only one ring and one bracelet per hand, close toed shoes, skirts past the knees, etc). Management clearly doesn’t keep up with technology and market trends, especially the head of marketing. Management sticks together and are more or less only there to yell at people all day for no reason. Job culture is horrible and everyone is always miserable. Working for this company is like going back in time 40 years. The fact that they pushed me out the door was truly a blessing.

Run for this hills from this place. 

VP of marketing is a poorly trained manager with ZERO management skills from this decade when it comes to new and younger staff. They yell at staff without any reason, consistently talk down to people and protects sales managers who create and spread hostility. This job severely impacted my mental health and if you’re looking to build a career in hospitality and sales - apply literally anywhere else 

Not worth your time or mental health. 

Senior Sales managers and peers consistently fearful of upper management. 

If you want to feel belittled daily and fearful of your boss this is the place for you.
