A typical day here would include getting up at 5am for a quick breakfast and shower, taking a short bus ride to our job, splitting up into teams and gathering all of our seismic gear we needed, then hiked for the rest of the day either planting or collecting geophones for seismic data retrieval. We would work about 13-16 hours a day, 7 days a week, with 3 days off at the end of each month. My coworkers were great and were like family by the end of the season. The hardest part was pushing my body enough for the first month to make it but I did it and the most enjoyable parts were learning so many new things about the environment and gases and seeing so many new things.

A typical day at work was receiving new applicants from the start of the day.  The oil business at the time was very busy with an enormous shortage of workers.  I learned very quickly to manage my time and to be as efficient as possible with the demand. Management was always supportive giving all the resources needed to staff crews.  The working environment was fast paced and competitive but rewarding.  The working environment contributed to the difficulty of the job but it also gave me the most enjoyable part.  Meeting new people and being able to open up opportunities for them in a line of business that still to date continues to give.

The Calgary office feels isolated from global growth opportunities, making career advancement for senior leaders difficult. The management culture is quite traditional and risk-averse; there is a heavy emphasis on oversight and empirical validation for even routine tasks, such as professional development and training. This high-scrutiny environment can often stifle the autonomy and innovation that senior engineers need to thrive.

Working in the desert is a great experience. It opened my mind and allowed me to learn about different cultures. 
The management is archaic with a limited number of young professionals. 
The hardest parts of the job are the long working hours and the conditions.
The most enjoyable part is working with different people with different educational backgrounds and cultures.

My favorite job by far. the seismic industry is exciting and challenging. this is a great place to work if you do not NEED the income. Get to work in the morning, enjoy a safety meeting, drive to the field and begin your day working outside. I hope you have lungs because you're going to need them,

Beside the fidget cold temperatures it was a very good experience being able to navigate in the wilderness with nothing more than a map. communication by radio to manager on site made my problem solving skills greater and the hardest part would be the conditions and lack of rest time.

Extremely Busy not enough interaction with other people though. Need more variety in the position. Very isolated job. Learned a lot about the overall running of the office and costs involved in running it.

was   good  company  to  work  for  , some  of   management  was  not very   good, lived  in  hotels   and  camps. some  of  the  managers  could  not get along  with  each  other thus  making  it  a difficult  work  inviroment

Very un fair and no concern for their employees.Knowing the AP department was moving to Houston, They still hired new employees.
Not a warm environment to work in. People very clickly.

Starts with the morning meeting than drive to middle of no where spend all day outside in hostile environment. a huge learning curve as the job was on field and the pay check was very good
