A day in the office is much different than the other reviews on here relating to service or parts specific roles. 

I was able to learn a lot in my marketing role since there was only one person in charge of media communications efforts before my time. I found that there was a lot of room for growth in the first couple of years to develop and trial new content, SEO and social media strategies. 

The workplace culture is, in my opinion, rather outdated and dull. There are slight efforts every year to try and bring the locations (7) together but it can be difficult and upper management cares more about client-driven events, understandably so. As for culture at specific locations, it really depends; some locations are smaller and closer, have more team lunches, whereas bigger locations may have small groups that chose to be friendly on the side but not as a whole location. The departments can be very divided while working in the same building, people work upstairs or downstairs for years and may never meet once. 

Management works hard to provide solutions in every department to clients' needs, and caters to strengthening client relationships; due to this, it does seem that they put most of their ROI efforts into the sales teams or managers, and do not reward or take notice of other levels of employees throughout the company. 

Thus there are some hierarchical issues that would benefit from being addressed but the trucking industry is male dominated and functions under an older principle of business structure, so it may be some time until modern improvements are made. 

Overall, Vision Truck Group is a decent place to work (in the office culture at least) but it can be slow, uneventful and dreary some days. 

The employees across locations are nice people and they truly made for some of the most enjoyable times of the job. 

The hardest part of the job was budding heads with upper management since there were individuals that were often stuck in their views, or are unwilling to listen to new ideas and suggestions.

Working in parts is hectic all the time, however management have taken steps to help minimize stress and keep a positive environment.  There is lots of employee engagement and inclusion.  Managers check in with staff throughout the day and remind staff how much we are appreciated.  Work related frustrations are taken very seriously and management work with staff to take corrective actions.

The staff is great, everyone is helpful including people in the other departments.  Management encourages employees to stop focusing on everyone's short comings and support each other and help everyone succeed.  Everyone is willing to roll up their sleeves and work, even the managers.  Our parts sales rep will help counter staff after hours to find parts or sort something out.

Your experience with every employer is based on what you put into the job.  This company is very clear in the interview process what it expects and even provides a booklet with everything on paper.
Managers notice when certain staff put in a minimum effort just to get the day over with and they will reward the staff who actually care.

Upper management has ruined this places work environment, when i started there people were happy to come in and the environment was always positive, then upper management fired the service advisor and replaced him and everything went downhill, the first things my coworkers would say to me as soon as i seen then in the parking lot was F***this place. the service mangers are decent but anything above them are toxic i would work here only if its your last choice or if they are paying higher then what you currently get but this is not a place you want to be long term they have 0 loyalty to people who have been there for the company. oh and if  you came to learn diag just leave they only give it to the techs who have been there and will tell you in the interview you will get to learn diag but you will never receive any jobs for it, you will just be changing parts. Also expect nothing but transmission drops your first 3 months they do this to every tech because the techs that have been there do refuse to do them. 

- management is poor, people are promoted without any management experience
- not enough older techs to pass knowledge to the younger techs
- loads of high-school gossip
- not enough proper equipment,
- techs are thrown under the bus constantly
- cliquey behaviour
- constant worry of being fired
- Parts don't do internal inventories, at times easy repairs take days or weeks, even PPE isn't re-stocked at times
- management doesn't seem to trust anyone, or take advice from employees
- day time foreman is incompetent and will never take responsibility for any screw-up, instead blaming techs, singling out techs, even lying to SM, he's not a leader and should be put back on the floor

Company has shot itself in the foot, with the constant incompetence in leadership and management, it is now trying to survive day-to-day. 

Had our first meeting the other day, it went well. Hopefully this company starts to invest in their employees.

Upper management cited false accusations about my work, my character & my job performance to fit their narrative.  Like other reviews have stated, it’s a small circle that you won’t fit into.  They appear to be moving into a franchise model, where any employee could be moved to any location & be able to work as requested without having difficulty to so.  Which isn’t a bad idea, doesn’t seem like they are willing to be patient with employees adjusting to that system though.  
You will be constantly stressed about how well you are performing your duties, you won’t know you aren’t doing exactly what they want you to do until it’s too late. 

Etobicoke location is going downhill. Theres no work, our then-foreman, now new manager has zero experience working as a mechanic, and it shows. Will lie to get her way and customers try to avoid her. 

No wonder the shop has no work when management doesnt care about the customers or their employees, and are rude to their customer base even when its their mistakes theyre being rude about. 

Management took away bonus with no warning, all senior mechanics have left, shop is mostly unlicensed apprentices being put thru a revolving door. No one is happy

Our company has many great features to recommend it. First is the great people already on staff that are knowledgeable and supportive every day. Secondly is the great product that we can offer our customers and knowing that it is backed up by great parts and service departments. Thirdly its our great facilities to work in with everything we need to do a great job and invite our customer to feel comfortable and welcome. Fourthly is a strong hands on Management staff that are working hard every day to give us the tools needed to grow our company and make us successful. All these items make this the best company I have worked for in my forty year career.

There is no room to grow in this company. The company is very cheap so don't expect to get paid fairly. No employee team building what so ever. You are basically  just a number to them and they have no regard for you as a person. The upper management is quick to terminate you and does not bother to even speak with or even acknowledge the employees (mechanics). Management is terrible and lets not forget to mention the rude and inexperienced (this is an understatement) foremen running the show. They are just about ripping people off. If you do end up here you will end up questioning why you got into the trade in the first place.

If your not family or the same affiliations your not moving up. The person I had to work alongside made the job much harder and the days drag on. It was literally unbearable the most annoying  and unprofessional person I've had the displeasure of working with. He wants to make other people's lives as miserable as his own by being as annoying as he possibly could all day. Warehouse supervisor was great but the rest of the management team was unrealistic about expectations and want you to dedicate your life to a job that your underpaid and overworked at. 

Started with this company just after finishing my schooling. This was my first job, Manager which hired me was amazing and taught me loads. Original manager moved on and new management took over.
Found the morale after they took over dropped. Manager was very abusive and did not treat people with respect or dignity. My decision to leave was a no brainier. Spoke to senior management about situation and how thing have changed for the worse and nothing was done. Company will continue to loose employees unless they make changes for the better.Hope this helps people in the future.
