The store location and who is the GM of that location where you will be working will decide your life here at Visions Electronics. If the GM is a nice person and does not treat you like a slave then you are pretty much lucky. Otherwise, before coming to work you just want the day to end. For example, endless moving products to the sale floor and back to the warehouse for no reason just because the manager is indecisive. This is really frustrating and exhaust the warehouse staff and sales staff out when he/she can focus on selling or organizing their department other than just relocating heavy products out front and back to warehouse repeatedly and wasting time.

The amount of stock checks on a daily basis has increased tremendously comparing to when I first started due to an increase of store locations now in Ontario. It is like you working for other locations and not making and commission at all. Sometimes I noticed so much skids of shipments that the warehouse gets blocked up badly to the dock that the warehouse staff cannot build skids to ship out product to other stores. If they do not act quickly and ship out products right away the other store on other end will give them a complain phone call telling them why they are taking forever to ship out their products.

I also noticed that every time when there is a long weekend such as Labour Day in September or Thanksgiving in October; there will be an extended long hours sale day on Saturday of that same week. Staffs who is normally scheduled off on that day will be forced to go work on that day from 8am to 8pm (12hrs shift yes comparing to just an 8hrs shift). So be prepare for that.

On top of that, there will also many Grand Openings of other stores within the country. So a new store will be opening and they make all other stores in Canada open at 7am to 8pm that day. Also prepare for that one as well.

What will happen is that there is no customer coming at 7 o'clock morning on a Saturday Sale Day meanwhile every sales staff is excited for nothing and the day just going on like any casual Saturday of the year.

Sales staff where I work at continuously getting fired or leave on their own will due to lack of salary or management is not treating them like a co-worker but more like a slave as I had noticed while working here. Not sure what management said during the interview but they seem disappointed after getting their first 3 paychecks.

There are probably 5-15 training a year for new products like TV or Cellphone both online or in-person at a location. You must travel there on your own with your pocket money or gas if you drive. Sometimes my manager forced me to go training on my day off while I already had plans with my friends and family. Worst case is when I had to attend training after work (so tired after 8hrs shift and standing on my feet) and go training and they do not provide foods there.

Manager also used their special PIN to reverse sales and give them all the commission credits while I worked hard for that package of deal for my customer. This is unfair since I worked hard for it and get only half or less for the commission.

Pros now: there are monthly contests such as LG, KEF, Dyson and SONOS. If you make it to the top then you can win prizes for that category. I won a SONOS Play 1 once and I was so happy but watch out there are many pros salesman out there in the competition as well and he/she can win your prize during the last minute and all your hard work is gone down the drain.

You can buy anything in the store at cost if you work here. Pretty come in handy if you love electronics products like me.

You only get Benefits after working here after 1yr. Let your manager know right away when you almost reach one year so they can apply for your Benefits and when it is exactly 1yr you can have your Benefit card ready to go clean your teeth and like 70% drugs discount.

when I first started at this company it seemed very laid back, it seemed like a place a young guy could make a lot of money. While that is true, that's only if you suck up to the managers at every turn. on multiple occasions managers have reversed commission money under themselves for the most ridiculous of reasons, and without notifying any involved parties. Imagine you get your paycheck at the end of the month and its 100$ less than it should be because some manager decided he wanted it instead. There are multiple rules in place to make sure the managers can scum you out of money at every opportunity. 

Couple that with almost no free time if you work the 12:30-9 shift often and it is a very very difficult place to work. During the busy season it is mandatory to work ridiculously long shifts, sometimes over 15 hours with no overtime pay under the pretense that you will be making commission money, however as previously mentioned the managers will take all the money they possibly can from you. On one occasion my 150$ TV sale was reversed because one of the managers spoke to the guy I was helping 3 YEARS AGO.

I can keep going unfortunately, one of the only benefits of working here is the fact that you can go on your phone or put on a hockey game when its not busy, but then out of the wood work comes a manager asking you to do tags or merchandise, which to be fair is part of the job, but they then proceed to do the exact same thing you were just doing while you manage their department for them. This also gives them an opportunity to talk to customers and potentially make commission, which they then proceed to not give you half of. However when you don't split a manager in its a sin against god and they have a very melodramatic talk with you about how its not fair to not give someone part of the sale when they were doing work for you. 

The only reason I stuck around at this job was because I made friends with some co workers, but they then all proceeded to leave right after Christmas directly because of the management and lack of proper pay. And the only reason I am still here is because the job market in my area is so ungodly, hellishly terrible, that visions is actually a decent place to work.

On top of that your days off are not off, you will almost certainly be phoned by your manager or another salesperson about work related things, one time I was out for breakfast with my girlfriend and one of the managers phoned me asking me to come in, I of course told him that I had plans and wouldn't be able to. He then tried to guilt me into coming in by saying "oh I guess we won't be having lunches today..." 

Overall if you're thinking of applying here, only do so if you love money so much that you can throw all your free time and human decency in the trash.

As a lot of the other reviews mention, this job is commission based which is almost worse than getting paid the hourly (minimum) wage because you never know what you’re going to make. If you work in the home office department like I did, you are better off getting a minimum wage job so you are guaranteed money and not fed a bunch of commission garbage.

The management is an absolute joke. As a matter of fact, most of the “keys” or “managers” at my job were incompetent, rude, lazy workers who thought they were untouchable because they have been there for years. I was under the impression that many of them lacked college education. 

Head office... could care less about their employees or their managers. Within 3 months, 3 new GM’s. And head office doesn’t care to give you, nor the managers a heads up. You walk in one day and everything is moved or to-be moved based on the opinion of an airhead general manager or the regional manager. 

I only applied here because my last job closed down and my bills still needed to get paid but I did not know what a disaster I was walking into. If I knew the culture of this company and this store (Clareview) in particular I would of never submitted an application to them. I never do job reviews like this, I only thought it was important to do because I see the job ads that they currently have posted and they’re trying to hard to make it seem like it is heaven on earth.

Before you try to get a job with them just take this into consideration— they have absolutely no respect for the people who work there. They act like a bunch of teenagers and the pay is very, very little for all of the work you’re expected to do. They will tell you if you make more from hourly pay vs commission they will pay you higher amount, but in reality they frown upon this and so does head office and you will often be threatened and/or terminated without a heads up within your 3 month probation period.

Worked at visions for about a month. Some of the guys have major creep radar. Management is awful makes you come in on your day off for training, I was told was unpaid as well. The manager will sell any and everything at cost if you ask for help...its commission and if its sold at cost you literally make nothing. Lots of petty drama and gossip if you liked high school then this is the job for you. You have to come early for morning meetings I'm not talking 15 minutes early I'm talking 30 to 45 minutes early for a pointless meeting. Very long hours some days 12 hours plus...which you dont get paid for. Forces you to join their what's up group chat which is hardly used for work related issues and mainly used for socializing...waking up to 100 missed messages in the "work" chat for non work related conversations is annoying. A lot of power hungry individuals that like to be in control. Literally zero training goes into this place, they dont tell you what to do and just expect you to know. First day there they just stuck me on the floor without a word didnt tell me if I was supposed to greet customers or if I was supposed to observe everyone just left me standing in the middle of the AV section. Following days didnt get any better. Some of the people were funny and I enjoyed their company other then that terrible work experience.

The people hired at Visions Electronics in Kamloops are great people.  Everyone is very friendly, outgoing, funny, and great to work with.  
Unfortunately, this wonderful aspect is outweighed by extremely poor management.  Top sales staff are favored; receiving special treatment which allows them to come and go as they please, show up to work under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and treat the company and staff disrespectfully.  The bottom of the sales staff are asked to do things that are out of their job description; such as shovel snow, or mop the floor.  
During the holiday season the hours are very mismanaged.  Many days they're are too many staff on shift at one time for sixteen hour shifts.  Instead of splitting the staff up into appropriate numbers for regular eight hour shifts.  
The General Manager focuses mainly on the sales staff and does not communicate properly with the cashier staff.  Cashiers are very poorly trained; seasonal temp cashiers get little to no training at all.  Full time cashiers are expected to take on some administrative tasks as well, but are not given recognition or the proper work space for these jobs.  Cashiers are able to fill their time with organizing/ cleaning tasks, especially in the slower seasons;  but are not consistently given the supplies to do so;  the store is always dirty despite cleaning efforts.

I've had the opportunity to work for this company for 5 years (still employed) and have grown through challenge every year.  

Typical work day in the Installation Bay will vary.  May start with a remote starter, then the next job is an amplifier with a couple speakers.  All while helping consult jobs with sales staff and organizing work flow in the shop.

Time management is a skill you must develop quickly in order to be efficient, but once you do, you can maintain or increase your work quality within the working day.

Management is good, they allow me to operate my business as I see fit as long as I operate within company guidelines of course.

The company is big on training for Installers and encourages self development.  It's rare to see an organization to encourage so much progression in an employee.  

The hardest part of the job is putting too much time into it at times.  It's easy to work those extra hours and blur the work/ life balance line.

The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to do what I love for work and run it as my own and have a lot of freedom to do so.  Being autonomous at work is important to me and this is one of the few places of work I can have those freedoms and be rewarded for my efforts.

Where to start...Management was meh at best. Plain disregard for following any covid-19 related protocols such as sanitizing and enforcing employees to wear their masks, and often disagreed with each other on how the store should be run.

There was a clear divide between warehouse workers and the salesman. Despite having to unload trucks, receive stock, do stock checks, put stock on the salesfloor, and load trucks; the salesmen still expected you to do carry-outs and would call warehouse for almost everything that wasn't making them commission. Several had snappy attitudes and often talked down to warehouse, such as being asked if I needed my hand held when asking a simple question. 

After working for only a few days with almost no training, I was left alone to unload trucks, move tv's, receive stock and do carry-outs while management decided the senior warehouse man was more useful building shelves.

I was told I needed to take initiative despite doing more work than people more superior to me, and even after reorganizing parts of the warehouse, I got no recognition and nobody even attempted to keep it organized. 

I could continue about even more negatives, some worse than stated, however I'd be writing a novel. To sum it up, I will never work for visions electronics again.

I found this place to be very bittersweet. You get to work alongside some really great people, there's a lot of great knowledge to learn and incentives and prizes to do so. I personally love learning new things so these incentives were just a bonus for me. The management isn't great. The training program in the beginning looks like it's going to be great, but there's little to no follow through and you end up training yourself for the most part. A lot of this you actually have to do on your own time if the store is busy all day with customers, which is both frustrating and stressful. They do expect a lot, long hours, and during the busy season you're looked down on and made to feel bad if you don't come in on your scheduled days off. ***It is true that they'll fire you on a whim, even after the probation period, and refuse to give you any sort of reason.*** IF you play all your cards right and are the best of the best then there can be good opportunities for advancement, which is really awesome. But if you're just learning in the industry, don't expect to advance here. I will also warn you there is a bit of a shady culture as well with some of the expectations management has around sales...

It's a big scam.

They claim manufacturer spiffs that are entitled to the sales reps.

You accrue alot in profit and spiffs...however if one of your "KPI's" (which aren't REAL KPI's) is off, you get nothing.

Basically the sales staff costs the company nothing as the profit and spiffs you earn pay for that staff member if they don't hit their monthly sales targets.

If you are a section Manager, your section could hit all sales targets...but if you don't personally overachieve then you get NOTHING.

They make you wait for a year before benefits. And then they fire most once they hit that year.  A friend was a section department head.  He turned in his resignation to accept a job with a competitor.  The regional called him and convinced him that he was valued and would have more upside in staying which he did.  They fired him less then a month later after he turned down the other offer.  He had worked there for One year and two weeks.

When I left, I was owed 2 weeks pay.  They didn't pay it.  

SLEAZY and sketchy company.One of the two worst companies I have ever worked for in my 35 years of sales experience.

Daily tasks: Inventory count of different categories, receive products at the back dock, help salesman find products, check returning TV, bubble wrap demo TV, carry-out, load TV onto car, home delivery, bank deposit and home installation with AV Installer. Move and organize products in warehouse, on the sale floor and back to warehouse, trained new employees with SS3 system.

When it is your day off on Saturday and Sunday, products will go missing during these two days because of salesman. When Monday comes and you are back to work you need to do inventory count and you have trouble locating the missing products.

No room for advancement, you rarely get a raise, most likely 1 time per 2yrs.

Co-workers are laid back here, keep pushing their tasks onto other co-workers who is new.

If you are the GM's pet, they invite you to have beer after work hours while the front door is locked.
